cherry-flavored
prompt: snow cone (august 13th). 187 words. @jegulus-microfic
Regulus can feel the ice dripping down his head, cold and wet and sticky as it melts in the hot summer sun.
“Did you just drop a snow cone on me?” He asks, turning to James, who’s snickering.
“Maybe.”
“You’re a child,” Regulus replies, wiping the ice from his face. James is looking at him, of course as he does it, eyes boring into Regulus with intensity. James Potter did everything with an intensity, in all honesty.
“What, do I have something on my face?”
James shakes his head. “No—no, just looking.”
“Well—stop it,” Regulus says, shoving James’ shoulder. They’d come to the fair to have fun that day, and snow cones to the face was not really his idea of fun. At least Sirius had decided to stay home—Regulus could only deal with one of them at a time.
“Sorry,” James says, though the apology doesn’t reach his eyes.
“No, you’re not.”
“No, I’m not. You look good with snow-cone on your face.”
And it’s probably good that the ice was cherry-flavored, because it covers the blush that spreads rampant across Regulus’ face.
