a fresh start would be good for you, renee had whispered in his ear as she tucked secrets between his scars. a new university on the other side of the country after it hadn’t worked out with the trojans stateside. a new university without an exy team, without publicity, without pressure. jean’s been here two weeks now, and can already sense the otherness of it, thanks to all of his newfound free time. he hasn’t stopped running, hasn’t stopped spending hours shooting puck into net when he cannot trick his body into sleeping, but he has stopped being ignorant to the world outside of the sport that almost killed him.

hence, there’s some kind of wrongness at belgrave university. wrongness not too dissimilar to riko moriyama and his hell-reign. there are ravens here, if not by name, by nature. it rattles deep in his bones.

basic mind-mapping led to two names that seemed ever-present in reports of strangeness, two names identified commonplace; vera stone and hamish blake. of the two, hamish’s felt the least intimidating. he’d seen vera around the campus, and knew there was raven in her too. so hamish it was, the one jean approached fearlessly in the late afternoon, knocking on his t.a. office door. 

   ‘ there’s a cult here, isn’t there? ’     about as unforgiving as a forest-fire, those words, all tact lost to impatience. a fresh start would be good for him, renee had said. but what if this fresh start was simply a repeated cycle?    ‘ don’t lie to me. too many people have died, and i know a thing or two about power structures. enough to see there’s one here. maybe even two. i can’t figure out if you and vera are working together. ’

                    a brutal, humorless laugh passes her lips before she tosses back the goblet full of red, bitter liquid she had been offered by a grounder who’s name she hadn’t been given. everyone in polis had treated her much the same way since she had arrived — quiet, uncertain looks and careful, quick conversations. they refused to introduce themselves, refused to spend a moment alone with her — as if something about the fact that she came from the sky made her inherently dangerous. or maybe it was just their perception of skaikru as a whole. and, really, could clarke blame them? 

                    setting the goblet aside, she shook her head and dropped her gaze from lexa’s. “i don’t wonder much at all, actually. it’s not just me they’re out to get.” but the answer was avoidant in nature, because she knew what lexa really meant. clarke’s list of enemies was ever-growing. “you know what it’s like better than most, though, don’t you?”

they    had    no    other    options.            she    had    no    other    options.            someone    had    to    press    the    trigger        &        no    harm    to    chris,        but    she    was    quicker    on    her    feet          ---          if    anyone    had    a    chance    of    getting    out    of    the    bombs    range    in    time,        it    was    her.            besides,        she    made    it,        she    was    the    only    one    who    could    fix    it.            like    said    prior,        zoe    had    no    other    options.

once    the    explosion    died    down        &        the    growls    of    the    dead    seemed    to    cease    she    took    her    hands    off    her    ears.            gun    aimed    ahead    of    them    just    in    case    of    stragglers.            the    last    thing    zoe    wanted    was    to    be    stuck    in    this    crumbling    building    after    dark,        especially    seeing    they    had    just    rang    the    dinner    bell    for    other    hosts    for    miles.

             after  everything  that  had  happened  at  their  favorite  summer  camp,  dylan  wasn’t  sure  the  others  would  want  to  keep  in  touch.  he’d  understand  wanting  to  put  the  traumatic  events  behind  them,  but  he’s  pleasantly  surprised  at  the  constant  texts,  and  everyone  checking  in  on  each  other.  dylan  made  it  his  mission  to  see  them,  traveling  around,  dropping  in  (  never  unannounced,  though  no  one  would  put  it  past  him  ).  jacob’s  the  lucky  winner  this  week,  and  dylan  sighs  as  he  falls  onto  the  couch  next  to  him.   ‘ you’re  gonna  have  to  show  me  around  at  some  point,  we  can’t  just  sit  around  all  day, ’   head  lulls  to  the  side  so  dylan  can  give  a  teasing  grin.   ‘ i  mean,  we  can,  but  wouldn’t  you  much  rather  take  me  around  town,  show  me  your  favorite,  i  dunno, gym . . .  spots . . . ?  or  whatever  else  you  do, ’     @apocaelypse.

                   KNUCKLES  TURNING  WHITE  ,  GRIPPING  HARD  ONTO  HIS  PISTOL  .  crunching  dead  leaves  underneath  the  soles  of  his  boots  .  he  muttered  under  his  breath   as  the  coloring  of  his  socks  was  starting  to  show  through  the  worn  down  material  .  he  really  needed  to  find  more  clothes  that  fit  him  .  specifically  hiking  boots  .  maybe  he  could  find  an  old  REI  .  his  breath  was  showing  in  the  air  as  it  was  getting  colder  and  colder  .  on  his  shoulders  was  a  brown  and  tan  jacket  with  wool  on  the  inside  and  around  the  collar  .   his  pants  were  faded  jeans  ,  a  hole  in  the  knees  he  suspected  coming  from  moving  around  so  often  .  his  tongue  rests  on  his  lower  lip  as  he  focuses  on  the  surroundings  around  him  .     a  broken  twig  .   voices  it  seemed  from  a  woman  and  a  young  boy  .  he  reaches  his  pistol  up  ,  eyes  darting  from  side  to  side  .

         ❝  who’s  there  ?   ❞   davy’s  voice  was  gruff  ⸺ raspy  from  the  cold  air  in  his  lungs  .  he  was  on  edge  .  they  had  already  lost  so  many  lives  to  the  apocalypse  whether  it  was  to  the  walkers  or  those  who  chose  to  live  on  the  more  brutal  side  of  life  .  in  the  distance  ,  he  was  finally  able  to  make  out  the  two  forms  of  which  the  voices  belonged  to  .  they  looked  civil  ⸺  not  like  hunters  or  bandits  .  ❝  don’t  shoot  ⸺  friendly  !  ❞  he  shouts  out  ,  careful  not  to  be  too  loud  in  case  of  walkers  .  though  ,  he  keeps  his  gun  up  just  in  case  she  is  to  be  hostile  .

it was nice to see how many multi muse blogs interacted with my sadness last night . . .  but it’s also really disappointing.  like i’m so sorry that so many of us have the exact same experiences just because we’ve decided to write with most  ( if not all )  of our muses in one place.  because multi muse blogs, in my experience, are usually the most active, the least dramatic, and the most friendly of all the rpc folks i’ve interacted with in my 10 years on this site.  so i’m going to tag all the multi muse blogs i follow lol because they’re all incredible and worth a follow!
