Chukotka (I would like to do more painting detailed portraits in the future hehe)
Hittite Empire (Not sure if I'll keep this design, but I do like the missing eye! I think she def acquired it towards the end of her life)
Egypt, Lebanon (Apparently crocs are quite popular in egypt i hear its quite depressing in cairo and evidently lebanon agrees)
Uzbekistan (I realized I never really put her blue since I associate her with earth tones and wanted to try it :3)
Nivkh, Ainu (Mr ainu makes an appearance again!! did some reading on sakhalin and the nivkh-ainu interactions were so interesting to me)

It really fucking pisses me off that when someone draws Syria with Assad regime flag - it's a tragedy (which is fair) but when someone draws Belarus with Lukashenko's regime flag - then it's okay for some reason. Both Syria and Belarus deserve justice and fair fucking treatment at least in Internet.
Also, guess what? Both Assad regime and Lukashenko's regime are supported by fucking russia.

Hey Alfred, have any other countries come to live with you when they have had an influx of immigrants?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some people stay longer or shorter depending on their government, while some nations don't come at all because they're politically unable! With many they have other nations telling them what to do, so they're really at someone else's whim.
Scotland- Many Scottish and Irish immigrants came to the US while it was still a British colony in the aftermath of the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745, either fleeing prosecution or being deported as indentured servants. Many Scottish immigrants ended up in North Carolina in particular, especially in Appalachia. It's still apparent in some parts of the Appalachian dialect, and the Scottish and Irish also happen to be where Americans get the contraction "ain't" from.
Norway- Many Norwegians immigrated to the United States starting in the 1830s, something that continued through the mid-19th century due to pursuit of religious freedoms, political disagreement regarding the union with Sweden, and the potato blight. They primarily settled in the Midwest and formed farming communities, affecting the dialect there much like the Scottish affected the Appalachian dialect.
China- Many Chinese immigrated to the United States during the 1850s and 1860s to escape poverty and political turmoil in China. They mainly settled in the West and entered the United States through San Francisco. They were involved in the Gold Rush and while the Irish primarily built the Eastern half of the Transcontinental Railroad, the Chinese primarily built the Western half. The Treaty of Burlingame established guaranteed religious freedom for Chinese immigrants and granted them privileges, though naturalization was notably withheld. However, this aspect of the treaty was famously curtailed by the Page Act of 1875, which banned Chinese women from immigrating, and the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, which banned immigration of Chinese laborers. This act wasn't repealed until 1943.
Lebanon & Syria- During the 1880s, many Syrian and Lebanese immigrants, particularly Christians, immigrated to the United States to escape oppression and political turmoil in the Ottoman Empire. Lebanese were marked as "Syrian" on official paperwork until the 1920s, and both were often marked as "Turks", similarly to Lithuanians being marked as "Russian" or "Polish". The Ottomans later set constraints on immigration to prevent population loss, though it was not a large enough wave to cause this.

Syrian Occupation of Lebanon, 1976-2006 AD.
This is one of my most painful scars, because it came from someone who had been there for me all my life. Again, I don’t remember when I got this scar exactly, but it had to be around this time. The issue was that Syria had been occupying my lands since my Civil War. At first, I thought he was helping me, but his intentions were not what I expected. He wouldn’t leave me alone and was building up his army of supporters, invading my cities and destroying entire areas. When the assassination attempt on Mr. Hariri happened, my people went ballistic. Everything was tying back to Mohammad’s (Syria’s) president and how it was all planned. All I remember was that Mohammad tried hurting me and my people. This was a stab wound, and although I don’t remember when it happened, the details as to how it occurred are as clear as day to me. It was late one night, I had trouble sleeping. My people were fighting one another and my government was going haywire, but Mohammad had stayed with me the entire time. He said he was helping me, that he wanted to take care of me and make sure I got back on my feet. I was half asleep when I heard footsteps in my room and heavy shuffling. When I opened my eyes, I saw him hovering over me, a knife in his hand. With no remorse, he ran the blade right through my chest, thankfully, only on the right side. I don’t know if it could’ve killed me, but my country had been so vulnerable at the time, I guess we’ll never know. Mohammad ran off, fled back to his country and later, withdrew his troops. It still hurts whenever he’s near, but I forgive him.

Ah yes, well, believe it or not, I’m not so unlike-able that I don’t have...what you could call friends.
China: Ha, he thinks he can tell me what to do...but I don’t want him to turn his back on me because he trades so much with me. He just wants South and I to stop fighting because it would make his life easier. Easy for him to say. It’s not his existence at stake...
Russia: I probably wouldn’t still be here without him. He showed me how to stay strong when your enemy is stronger, and he helped me get better technology to even the playing field. Nowadays he pretends to not be friends with me because he doesn’t want America to notice. I don’t care if America notices.
Cuba: We’ve always been good friends because we agree on a lot of things, especially socialism being great and America being the worst. I learned Spanish just for him. He also boycotted the last Seoul Olympics with me. That’s true friendship.
Vietnam: She ended up going through almost the same thing I did with the north-south ideology war. I flew MiG’s for her because it felt sort of personal...like I could redeem myself that way.
Malaysia: We were cooperating well on tourism and trade for a while, but we had a fight because my leader’s half-brother was assassinated in her country and she wouldn’t give him back. Now we’re not talking, so actually she shouldn’t be on this chart...
Singapore: He doesn’t judge me like other nations do, but he doesn’t judge anyone as long as they’ll do business with him. Whatever. He buys my stuff and that’s more than can be said for most countries.
Syria: We’ve been friends ever since he’s been fighting with Israel (just another puppet of America, by the way). I also showed him how to make a nuclear reactor to power his cities, but Israel destroyed it because no one can have anything nice these days. Anyway, he’s been having some troubles with a civil war lately, and I’ve been trying to help him, but he can’t seem to decide if he wants help from me or not.
Pakistan: He wanted to get a leg-up on India and knew I wouldn’t judge him for it, so we started toying with rockets together. Since that went so well, we’ve been having more cultural exchanges lately. Some of my students study abroad there.
Iran: Ah yes, Iran and I bond over many things. Like Pakistan and I, we bond over science, but she’s more into nuclear physics... And, well, after you get labelled a “rogue state” by America, no one wants to be your friend, so we stick together.
((OOC;; This took so long because I didn’t want to use the character designs of people who I’ve never interacted with, so I tried to come up with some quick, simple designs and it took a bit of research because I’m not well-versed on many of these.
But these aren’t set in stone! I just needed something visual to answer the question with. These designs probably won’t continue to have cameo appearances unless people specifically ask about these countries, because I’d rather leave these countries to people who can do them justice. That being said, if people who have OCs of any of the countries here want to interact with me, please do so I can learn! This is a sideblog so I can’t send asks from it though, so opportunities for me to initiate interaction are a bit limited.
I like Singapore’s design though. Maybe I’ll bring him back.))
