What drew your Tavs to their love interests? Was there an instant connection between them, or was it more of a gradual build-up? What's their favorite things about their respective LIs?
Thank you so much for the ask!! (I swear I'm working on the tents one I just need to actually draw them 😭)
Andis got smacked directly in the face by Cupid watching Wyll's introduction, and Karlach with her golden retriever energy had him at hello. He was immediately drawn to both of their genuineness and sense of fun. Also watching Wyll with the tiefling kids made him swoon. However he does kind of have a crush on everyone new he meets and assumed it would just go away with time so he didn't really make a move beyond his normal platonic affection. His favorite thing about Wyll is his love of a dramatic flair and his unfailingly good heart. His favorite thing about Karlach is her sunny disposition and her love of trying new things. They also all really like dancing and music and that's something they bond over (no I don't have a ballroom dancing thing whatever do you mean,,,) He just loves them so much you guys <- projecting
Salix. Okay salixstarion is really interesting to me because for the majority of their relationship (act 1-mid act 2 at which point they break up) they go through varying degrees of hatred, contempt, and disgust for each other and for their situation. The thing that drew her to him is the fact that he's an elf, meaning she can't use her siren song on him and therefore he poses a serious threat to her safety within the group. The best way I'd describe their arrangement is, they're both playing the exact same game of 5d manipulation chess but they both hate it too much to realize the other person also hates it. Their relationship improves a lot after they break up in act 2 and by the end of the game she's started to develop a genuine crush on him, and him on her, which they then proceed to never address even though they're adventuring together post-game.
Ren and Gale clicked pretty quickly I think. They got talking to him at first because they recognized him as having been their classmate at wizard school, and then continued because of their shared love of their respective crafts. They adore it when he teaches them things about magic and just things in general because they love learning and he's one of the only people who's ever really treated them like they deserve to be taught, if that makes sense. They could spend hours listening to him talk. Ren also loves his artistry when working with the Weave, it reflects their own passion towards the more artistic and beautiful side of their work as an artificer. And he's such a genuinely good and kind person it's hard for them not to fall in love. He's perfect for them is what I'm saying
...I haven't decided who Monty's romancing yet-- I'm just gonna go with whoever tries to fuck him first because that's what's most in character lol. I think his endgame romance is Wyll because uh. Gwaincelot brainworms. My interpretation of it is he'd flirt with Wyll right off the bat, get rejected, drop the subject because he didn't care that much anyway, sleep around with whoever else, and then realize oh fuck I actually genuinely like him what the hell do I do!!! And then they get together sometime during act 3 and are ridiculously cute. I think he does have a brief fling with Gale during the sleep around phase but it's very much no-strings-attached. I really don't think he'd work out with Gale in the long-term. Wyll however I can see being perfect for him.
Cesair isn't romancing anyone I don't think because he's still not over his ex and also this is a playthrough with a dear friend of mine and I won't subject it to that (hi @otherworldlyjukebox ily). But I can see him with Gale, Astarion, or Minthara - he'd definitely end up ascending both of the boys but he'd be so chill with it afterwards. He's used to being subservient so he wouldn't see anything wrong with being Gale's Chosen or Astarion's Consort. There also are the narrative parallels between him and Gale and having had really imbalanced power dynamics in their past relationships. His moral code is really fucky so I could also see him raiding the Grove and recruiting + romancing Minthara if he was guided to that.

This time I watched the episode during the Premiere. I’m not that good when it comes to waiting so
I try to avoid it but this time I had to watch it earlier than usually but the review comes late anyway.
This episode starts with the word Gazelle written in big and a flashback of Pladao who is running against other people. I guess this episode is to show that she is a runner, so she got the nickname of gazelle from her friend/cousin (I can’t really remember exactly). This will also allow the episode to make comparison all the time with how gazelles lives, how they can be prey and easily subdue. I thought the girl was actually really flirty with Pladao, but it’s probably just to show how close they are.
After the opening we find again Pladao from the present and she is reading a postcard/message from her cousin talking about the man she was dating. A scene that is only here to emphasize the mystery of her death. Then we get the 2nd apparition of Kitti the male friend I didn't talk about in the last episode. Pladao and him are talking about her cousin relationship. He is the one who tell Pladao about Naam and the Rendez- Vous (=RV because I’ll write that name a lot). My question is how does he knows all of it. Pladao is supposed to be close to her cousin but she would have preferred telling Kitti about her relationship over her cousin ? It doesn’t make any sense. Plus he is not saying everything. Why being mysterious like that? The only funny thing is that I was expecting the pregnant revelation by the way he was talking. XD Okay so Pladao has starting doing her investigation to find the Jungle right after Kitti talked. She has a freaking board for it. My gosh, it’s so cliché. Kitti told us there are no information about Naam but she found his picture to put it on the board. By the way, why is she hiding the board with a cloth? It stands out more. We got again the flashback of her first encounter with Naam or his twin. At this point there is not even enough way of distinguish them.
Back at work. She propose her investigation as a story. Then we move on Gale and Phethai still not communicating properly. She admit she can’t really fight for him either. They really deserve each other. When she tried to leave the journalists found her, so she tried to go for another way butPhethai stopped her. At the end he tells her to stay with him and kiss her. The last episode he was letting his mom said she wasn’t his girlfriend... He changes his action every 5 min. Why doing the press conference if it was to end it this way? Of course, Bad mom saw everything. She is furious. Now, he wants to retire from acting. Wow everything goes so fast, it’s kinda hard to follow the logic behind all of that. Okay so Bad Mom thinks he can't do anything without her but he is willing to try anyway (for 5 min I guess until the next change of mind). Bad Mom can’t control herself and slaps him. Mam you should live your own life and stop being so obsess with your son’s life. In retaliation, he is threatening her to reveal the truth about his name to the family of the real Phethai. He wants to be Wayu. Wow, Gale superpower is giving him some balls. We have then two useless scenes with Gale at work being happy and Phethai who now wants to be a pilot? All of that was just to end with both of them going on vacation together. We also get a Bad mom is furious scene number 2.
We left those character to get to Naam who is at a wedding. Nithan. the ex of the future groom is also here. She wants to congratulate him despite her friends saying it's impossible to be friend with an ex. Let’s agree to disagree. It depends of how the break up happens in my opinion. Naam is watching them but also listening. Nithan sneezes and her friends jokes that it is a sign that she is lying (It will happen several times during the episode because Nithan has a weird kinship with Pinocchio). The mother of the groom mocks Nithan comparing her with the bride. All moms are bad moms in this series. Naam is looking like someone who wants to cause a stir. He goes to the girl and pretend to be working at the weeding and that the groom wants to talk to her, supposedly to apologize. She is overjoyed. The groom is reciting is vows. He says he will sing a song and apparently he is used to do that to every girl he is dating because Nithan caught him at this time and complain. He wasn't expecting it. We also got a Chinzilla reference xD. So funny ! I try to imagine them.
Back to Naam playing with some kind of mixing console to make their argument heard by everyone. Let’s spare a thought for the poor bride. We basically learn that the groom is a cheater and a liar. Naam still doing shit to make this even more chaotic. I love this guy. Groom’s mom tries to save the day but it's to late. Naam is having fun. This guy is too much. Nithan is then escorting out. I don’t know why is she trying to talk with the groom’s mom? It's a waste of time. Why even going to this wedding? Naam appears and Nithan wants to know why he did all of that and of course it was for fun. This guy likes to play with other people’s life. Okay now is he flirting with her? I thought he would be the one for Pladao. but maybe the twins will have different girls. He gave a paper to Nithan to go to the RV. Nithan’s mom is the only good mom in the show. She totally support her daughter’s actions at the wedding. Hurrah with have a good mom. Revenge taste sweeter when it's done with loved ones. Okay so Nithan is in fact happy of Naam action. Already smitten with him? The grand mother is sick so Nithan may get some inheritance. They have a family reunion with Nithan. Mom and Dad are divorced? They can’t seem to stand each others. Of course Nithan won't get a thing from grandma. Her mom can't believe it. So predictable. Nithan doesn't care because she knew it. It's so funny because you can guess pretty easily the story. Nithan wants to leave but before it happens Mom kind of announce that she is getting married. What the heck mom?
Nithan pretends that she will get married in front of her family but now she has to find a fake boyfriend. She is trying to find a man good at lying, so she will think of Naam of course. Find the paper again girl and go to the RV you'll find your liar xD. Back to RV again. We’re back with this damn piano. Everyone knows how to play in this show. They must teach that at school. Is the piano the guitar for straights in Thai drama? Of course no one is here except Hunter. XD The guy doesn't have a home. He lives here full time. He gives again his speech for the newcomers. He asks why she is looking for Naam and she answers that she has a favor to ask. She learns about his alias and Hunter warms her that Naam is manipulating her. Then, he serves her the famous drink we have seen every episode. By the way I think it looks like a bad sangria. Pladao is also here (finally!). Also looking for Naam I guess. Nithan doesn't know about the Jungle so Pladao tries to explain it to her but no… There are no more lights and Hunter says it is normal. It’s a ruse because the girl has disappeared and Pladao is surprised. Hunter tells her, she is on the roof but it's probably a lie. They are playing such cheap tricks how can anyone be naive enough to fall for it? Mix role is so small here but I kind of like the small smirk he got here.
Pladao goes on the roof. Naam is coming or we think it is him because I believe this time it's the other one. The hair is different, maybe. She wants to ask him something but he wants them to play a game. It’s flip the coin and guess right to have an aswers. Pladao guess right the first time and asks him again if he knows her cousin. He doesn't answer. He only says that Naam doesn't know her. But you do !You are the evil twin. Everyone can see it. He is also flirting with her while she is recording him. So Naam likes Nithan et Evil Naam likes to play with fire. They are still playing a drinking game and they play “never I have ever” (I don’t remember the name of this game but it’s something like that). I guess she will kiss him soon. Banco! I knew it. Wow the kiss wan’t great. Okay it was just an appetizer. The real kiss happens after. I’m not a fan of Nanon but he knows how to kiss. Hack, Nathee and Pine are drinking coffee/tea... RV became a brunch place. They wonder who is the reporter who exposed them. But we don’t care because Paldao wakes up in a bed. Did she sleep with evil Naam ? This bed has seen so much. She can't even believe it herself. Never drinks guys! Evil Naam left a note for her. She is feeling bad. She found him and offers him to grab a coffee and he tells her he knows about th tape. She explains why but he is laughing. Flashback to the beginning when Nithan was taken by Viper. Okay I think you have to look at their hair to distinguish them. So Naam is the real viper and evil Naam is playing with Pladao. I kind of like this dynamic. Give me twins in every show. I love this shit. Okay this episode was much more interesting. Can't stand Gale and Phethai. Give me the reporter and evil twin. XD.

Let's talk about Hilda's dad
As you've seen from my latest posts. I've made stuff concerning Hilda's dad and I've mentioned him before. But now I'm speaking more about him. Especially after finding out he does exist in canon.
Many minutes ago or so I got a message from someone by the name of @smol-maru55 who I was nervous to speak to because I worried I might of bothered people with my posts. But Smol was very polite and actually offered me information that literally Luke Pearson himself answered in a review. I thank Smol for sharing me this because this changes quite some stuff.
Especially what's amazing this was before the show aired on Netflix. Including I think this is where the wiki on the show got this information. Luke talks about other stuff but he talk about Hilda's dad. If you guys don't mind I'm gonna share what he said. But I'm gonna keep the link to the interview to show where it came from. Especially he said other other interesting things too.
Luke Pearson: "There are too many stories about absent/crappy fathers turning a new leaf and showing everyone that they were always a good guy really. It's not something I'm interested in getting into. Hilda's dad's never been there for her, and his absence doesn't define her or her mum in any way, so I don't see him as an important character. I may touch on what his deal is eventually, but he's not going to get to swoop in and take up a lot of panel space."
That's what the main man himself said. Including like I said it changes my mind on some things. But I understand where he's coming from.
Related to the topic and I have spoke of this before. I do have head canon on Hilda's dad and it was around the early days of when I was in the fandom and they still are relevant.
Basically I had this idea for why Hilda's dad wasn't around was because of some reasons. Yet it's honestly like I joked about what the fandom would think would be quite depressing. Even for a show like Hilda. While it has it's serious moments. This would of been a bit much.
The idea I had for Hilda's dad is at first he did love his family, he loved Johanna, and he loves Hilda. But over time as Hilda grew up and became more adventurous, something changed.
Hilda's dad never liked the supernatural and how it was so normalized it was. Especially his daughter was embracing it and her attitude actually annoyed him. You have things like Twig living with them, Woodman visiting without permission. Including other things out there.
So I decided I guess at a point and reading a Johanna X Reader story(Yeah I'm saying that I'm not saying where) featured Hilda's dad and he left the family when Hilda was 5.
Basically he left her at a young age, told Johanna he just couldn't handle the stuff that was going on. He wanted a normal life. The guy left to go somewhere else most likely join the military. Which was something I wonder if I should make a thing but it's official I put him as a SAS which is kind of ridiculous.
He literally left because he didn't wanna deal with Hilda's adventurous attitude and other things. Which kind of says something....if the guy can handle one of the most harsh training for one of the toughest special forces in history, and he passes with flying colors....
But he can't handle Woodman and he almost tries to kill him with an axe. Which I joked about with @simonxriley that Hilda's dad wanted to kill Woodman at one point but Johanna got to stop him(because she even knows that's wrong and Hilda wouldn't want that). Especially it didn't phase Woodman and that freaked Hilda's dad out. Also Hilda found out later when Johanna told her.
The story for him I had was he would go to Trolberg after Woodman told him what happened. He visits them and it be this arc of how he wants to do better and be with his family again because he realized he was selfish. But it doesn't go that Luke talks about. This is part of the depressing part.
So the idea of the story of Hilda's dad trying to get together with his family is showcasing after years without them. He tried change but he can't. Because he thought everything would of been normal now in a city but Hilda didn't change and it's some what worse in Trolberg when he finds out the adventures Hilda has been in.
Especially Hilda's dad revealing to Hilda he actually left because of her. Because he didn't want a daughter who embraced the supernatural and all that around her. He has this prejudice against that stuff because it bothers him.
With the lesson being sometimes dad's aren't always as they seem. Even after they left they sometimes won't change and you have to move on from them. Because if they can't change why should you have them back in your life if they won't change for the better.
Basically with Hilda doubting herself that her own father abandoned her because of her personalities. But because of her friends and Johanna she learns it's okay and it's her dad's fault.
Hilda's dad was supposed to be an antagonist in a way. But not a villain despite he's a SAS ex one or not that's scary. He's a guy who can't mature and change, and just appreciate his daughter of who she is.
I wanna make this clear not every dad is shitty, their have been bad ones. But not every dad is bad I want to be clear on that. It was the concept of Hilda and Johanna moving on from him because he couldn't mature and be at peace with everyone. Especially how his daughter grew up.
Thinking in the end he just leaves, tells them goodbye and realizes this never worked. But seriously that sounds depressing like maybe that he does love them but he can't handle it, yet he can handle being an SAS.
Honestly thinking on this I definitely see why Luke didn't wanna do something like this. Even with my intentions being a different outcome. It's just a bit much unless the show takes on more serious subjects if Luke wants to or not.
In fact I even predict and think I could of made something like a reaction to Hilda's dad is that everyone if you love Johanna, if you ship Johanna X The Librarian, or if you love the show a whole lot and every character. The whole fandom just bands together to hate Hilda's dad because why the hell would you abandonded her own daughter because she loves flying on Woff's and she loves wilderness and everything it has to offer? Hilda is literally the best thing ever and a child that's a blessing.
I do think or yeah I remember. Their was an idea I had for an extra character. A younger male who would be a babysitter if Johanna wasn't around, and has a crush on Johanna and it's sort of like a child having a crush on a teenager at first. But basically it turns out that babysitter this guy that really cares for Hilda and her friends is basically the dad she always wanted and the kind of man Johanna always wanted because he actually cares despite he's weird, he tries his hardest.
I'm sorry for rambling, but again I totally get Luke on why he doesn't on go into detail of Hilda's dad. Especially the fact he admits it never had such a huge affect on Hilda and Johanna's life and they aren't defined by it. God I love he actually said mum but he is British.
Still would of been funny if well I originally wanted Craig Fairbrass as Hilda's dad but I want Kit Harington now so I can see all the stupid but funny headlines of how Jon Snow is in Hilda and people getting into the show and I'm like, "Me and a whole bunch of other fans were here first" it be this funny thing.
Also the younger babysitter guy would be voiced by Tom Holland or KJ Apa.
Really I would like to hear what was Hilda's dad's deal of why he's not with his family anymore. It's probably not gonna be like this but I keep thinking he and Johanna weren't a good match and he's actually a good guy. But still that's the thing Luke doesn't like.
I want him to be a good guy now voiced by Kit Harington because my God if a character like that existed on Hilda, he would probably be the worst character because he's more of a selfish jerk than other jerks like Trevor or the Marra. Especially Trevor is just a kid but still though, hope he develops in season 2. Especially the Marra are the Marra, their jerks, but they just want to cause nightmares for folks. Even though Kelly seemed to be alright because Frida showing some kindness towards her after giving Kelly her bunny back. Which might of well not fully changed but had Kelly appreciate Frida more.
Also Victoria Van Gale just kidnapped a baby weather spirit which was shitty. But considering her place was destroyed. She probably learned her lesson.
An asshole dad who left his daughter because he didn't like how she was is a bit too much even for me or....something.
Anyway I wanted to share that. I'm sorry this got long and me rambling.
