Hearts and diamonds are a match made in romantic heaven..

This charming Vintage cluster ring features gorgeous heart shaped diamonds and a brilliant cut diamond, arranged in a lovely flower cluster formation. It's crafted in 18k gold throughout with lovely split shoulders, and features English hallmarks dating it to 1987.

The lineage of the heart-shaped diamond stretches back over half a millennium! Its inaugural mention is attributed to Francesco Sforza, the Duke of Milan, in 1463, during an intriguing conversation. In this exchange, the Duke analogized the legendary exploits of the affluent "Cosimo de Medici" from the political dynasty in Florence to the allure of a heart-shaped diamond. If we entertain the veracity of this dialogue, it suggests that heart-shaped diamonds were fashioned prior to the 15th century and gained renown as emblems of regal status.

Following closely, in 1562, Mary Queen of Scots gifted to Queen Elizabeth a magnificent ring embellished with a heart-shaped diamond. This illustrious gem ranks among the most celebrated diamond hearts in history, imbued with connotations of camaraderie and benevolence during its era.

Inspired by the romantic 18th century idea of 'Giardinetti' jewellery, (Italian for 'little garden'), a felicitous floral necklace. A symbol of love and a token of esteem, the Giardinetti features a wild rose depicted in a fabulous Rococo style and studded with glistening hand faceted old rose cut Diamonds. The twinkle is truly quite bewitching! The rose cut Diamond Giardinetti dates to around 1750, is of Silver and was likely originally a part of some larger jewel, perhaps a tiara or brooch? With no way to wear it, we have converted this romantic flowerette into a stunning and captivating necklace. We smoothed the back and attached two Gold rings to enable the pairing with this antique Victorian Gold chain. We feel it works delightfully.... almost as if they were made for each other! The glorious old Diamonds are laid on silvered foil which shows their delicate tea stained gentility. Beautifully historic, these multi faceted Rose cuts began to appear around 1670 (Ogden) and very often had 24 facets. Some of these do, but many have between 16-20 facets. Each is hand faceted and shows a differing shape which is influenced by the natural crystalline shape of the gem. The finished length is 17 inches, and the 9ct yellow Gold rope chain closes with a cylindrical barrel clasp. The Giardinetti measures a touch over 2cm in each direction. Circa 1920's, a delightful and verry pretty Diamond pendant in the 'lavaliere' style which was the most fashionable at the time. Skilfully crafted by hand, at the time recycling a selection of glittery older hand cut Diamonds; a chunkily distinctive cushion cut to the centre (this measures at least 0.40ct), three small twinkles from hand cuts to the articulated drop, and a beautiful antique warm Champagne hued Pear-cut Diamond to the pendant (measures at around 0.30ct and which seems to be in an older original setting). All unique and precious this piece would make a most lovely and treasured special gift.
