how do you imagine fem angelface lookin like? Do you think she would look the same as her male counterpart but somewhat different?
basically this:
Tumblr media
so not that different from her male counterpart.. i really liked the caterpillar eyebrows and messy hair so i kept those, as well as her being insanely blonde. the freckles are there just bc i thought they were cute. i think she’s very young, too. not 16 like in the script which is INSANE and FALSE, but in the 19-23 range.
and character wise i think due to her youth she’s the one who changes the most out of the cast, or at least among the side characters. so while this is a spiral into insanity for narrator its a coming of age movie for angel face. she just slippery slopes from -> attending fight club because she enjoys violence and agrees with tyler’s sermons -> becomes further radicalized as she joins Project mayhem and the soap company -> becomes one of the leaders of terrorist cult and commits domestic terrorism and murder on a massive scale. at the beginning i 100% believe she had a puppy crush on Tyler/narrator, but probably grew out of it sometime between getting her face smashed in and putting pipe bombs in senators’ mailboxes. imo she’s very aware of how she looks and is extra aggressive to compensate, which is probably why she got promoted in the terrorist death cult.
i draw her super cutesy and wide eyed in most of my posts.. but tbh i dont think thats how she really looks, but moreso how narrator sees her if that makes sense? narrator has a tendency to perceive only in relation to herself (i want bob to br my mom, i want/want to be tyler, i want the boss to be my dad (NOT as in she want the boss, as he is, to be her dad, but that she wants him to be a paternal figure? something that he’s not)) and in that same vein she sees angel face as “i want to be her/ i want to want to be her/ i want what she has”? if that makes sense. sort of an inverse tyler (i want her ability to reject society and find freedom vs i want her qualities which make her accepted and desired in society)? thats why i think she resents her so much—“you have what i wanted and you choose to reject it/you have what i tried to have and you have it without even trying/ you can have both these things at the same time while i cant even have one (total commitment to tyler’s ideology and acceptance/desire by society because of her looks)” sort of sentiment— and ofc tyler being affectionate towards her doesnt help.. so basically a time bomb made of jealousy and resentment.

2019 December Update
Tumblr media
The game is officially playable from beginning to end!
That battle has concluded...
Soon begins the war! But first, a brief reprieve for the holidays.
And I must throw in the usual caveats. We're still playtesting, we're still polishing, we still gotta get age ratings, more red tape, etc etc. And most importantly, we need to figure out the launch strategy. Think Megaman, charging his shot for 5 and a half years... We're not allowed to miss at this point. It has to HIT.
Luckily, we're in a relatively stable position where we don't have to rush the game out immediately. It's not LAUNCH or STARVE - it's... take some time to aim a little. We don't want to launch in the shadow of a bigger behemoth game, and we don't want to launch completely unknown either. We have to build up the game's media presence, which has been neglected so far. I know it's annoying to have to continue to wait... but please bear with us a little longer!
Here's what we've been doing for the past couple months.
---------- THE SCRIPT ----------
The script sits at over 80,000 words. I didn't realize the significance until a teammate told me that that's actually as long as a novel! I looked it up, and sure enough, it's a little longer than the first Harry Potter. But unlike Harry Potter, hardly any of these words are wasted on, pffft, narration. It's all juicy dialogue!
Tumblr media
(Some of the game's golden nuggets of dialogue)
There was actually a lot of mundanity getting to the end. Pirate, acting as my editor, caught tons of errors and inconsistencies. One of the most recurring issues had to do with capitalization. I like to capitalize things, often inconsistently. Some common questions that arose:
Why is this text highlighted yellow, and this one highlighted blue?
Why is this monster name capitalized, but this monster not?
Why is this item capitalized, and this one not?
... and so on!
All very mundane issues, but all very necessary to tackle. And there was a TON of 'em. (em vs 'em was another thing we had to make consistent). I actually did some research to see what capitalization rules Zelda had. From what I could tell, when it comes to animals and monsters in the Zelda universe:
All monsters are capitalized
All regular animals are not capitalized
The Cuccos are special, and ARE capitalized
Tumblr media
(a collage of Zelda pictures I assembled to study)
In the Zelda universe, all regular items are lowercase, but highlighted blue when mentioned in a quest context (e.g. "butter", "hylian wheat"). Items can be uppercase, if they are special named items (e.g. "Sheikah Slate"). We adopted similar rules as Zelda in some cases, and deviated in others. For instance, in the Phoenotopia universe, there isn't a clear distinction between animals and monsters - that fish monster is really just an animal that happens to be the alpha predator in its natural habitat. So most entities are lowercase, but "big deal" entities can be uppercase.
Tumblr media
(we made a formal document to consult whenever a question regarding capitalization arises)
---------- A SAMPLING of QUEST AND CHARACTERS ----------
A lot of new quests have arisen in our great writing effort extending over the past several months. And with it, new characters, big and small. I'll tease a sampling of some of them here (warning: some light spoilers ahead):
Tumblr media
My favorite new quest is undoubtedly our game's new "Trading Quest". This one takes inspiration from the Zelda series - the trading quest similarly has you roaming the world and its towns in search of needy people who desire a particular item. Deliver them the item they desire, and get a new item. Do this 10 times, and the ultimate weapon awaits you at the end.
I tried some things to vary up the formula. Some NPCs don't reveal what they need right away - steps have to be taken to get them there. It's also possible to go down the wrong route in the sequence, and have to double-back. We try to keep it interesting.
Tumblr media
---------- LOOT PLACEMENTS & GAME BALANCING ----------
A great effort was also spent towards balancing the game this past 2 months. Because even one good healing item, easily obtained, can throw the game's whole difficulty off-kilter. And this same principle applies to other areas, like the money economy and player powerup options. Altogether, they form a very delicate ecosystem for enjoyment.
One of the recent things I did for this game was put down exactly where each heart ruby, energy gem, and moonstone could be found. And this was actually a rather involved process because you have a limited number of rewards to distribute (you wouldn't want the final max HP count to be a weird number like 297). Put too many rewards in the beginning, and the late dungeons would have no rewards to offer. Put too much in the end, and the inverse happens.
I found myself going back into earlier areas and plundering their rewards to fill the later areas. And then to ensure a relatively even spread of rewards within each area themselves, I drew crude maps of the dungeons & their reward spots, so that they could be studied from a bird's eye perspective.
Tumblr media
But it was still not enough. With NPC quests and towns also taking up their own allotment of the rewards, I found myself running low on things to distribute. So I went back to the books and upped the number of rewards across the board. Before there were 44 Heart Rubies to collect - there are now 55. Before each Heart Ruby boosted your max HP by 5, but now each one now boosts your max HP by 4, so your final max HP count would still end up the same. It's kinda similar to what happened with Twilight Princess, where they broke with tradition and made 5 heart containers required to gain a new heart instead of the usual 4. Overall, the final tally for treasure to find is:
55 heart pieces
30 energy gems
108 moon stones
Who's crazy enough to collect them all?
---------- BADGES / ACHIEVEMENTS ----------
As one of the game's finishing touches, there's a menu for BADGES - they're this game's version of achievements. This is an ongoing task that we hope to stamp out this December. A few favorites of mine from the original flash game will return ("Pillow Connoisseur" is among them).
Tumblr media
(The menu looks like this before any badges are earned)
I allocated slots for just 33 badges, so we're selecting the badges very carefully. We got rid of most of the fluffy ones that appeared in the flash game - we wanted to reduce the number of badges that you would earn automatically for just playing the game (so no more "1st boss", "2nd boss", "3rd boss" achievements). We're aiming for a healthy mix of easily earned badges, hard earned badges, collectathon badges, secret fun badges, and so on.
The badges have another twist - they bear miniaturized portraits of characters from the game! In the initial brainstorm mockup phase, I wasn't really fond of the badge designs. You got a medal of a heart because you collected some hearts, and you got the medal of a moonstone for collecting moonstones, etc. It just seemed so... expected.
Tumblr media
(various badge mockups)
How could we engage the players on a more fun and deep level? The idea came - what if we attached pictures of the people you meet on your journey? And these people's stories and character would have a connection with the achievement? That could keep the player guessing which character would come attached with an achievement, or even reveal a hidden detail about the character you didn't know.
Tumblr media
---------- MUSIC ----------
Will has just one more task to do. And that's to recut the song for the trailer. One of our other goals for this December is to make a really good trailer... again. There's actually 2 other trailers we cut and never made public for reasons. Maybe I'll talk about them one day in the post-mortem.
Since this may be the last conventional update, we wondered with which song to best leave the audience. And we decided that the most suitable song is "Sanctuary". It's a song that the player will often encounter often when they happen upon a quiet resting place in the world.
There's a little story behind this song. Two and a half years ago, I linked Will the Earthbound song, "Buzz buzz's prophecy", and told him, make a song like that!
In response, Will made "Sanctuary".
Give it a listen HERE. What do you think? Did Will hit close to the greats?
---------- FAN ART ----------
Three fan arts have come in the last couple months. I display them here proudly:
Tumblr media
Another submission by Cody G! Gale looking shy as she flashes the V sign for the camera. I like how Cody G's art is continually evolving. Note the additional detail on her eye, and how her hair is drawn extra fluffy. Very nice!
Tumblr media
Shafiyahh is another consistent contributor, and made one in the spirit of Halloween. I really like their costumes! Gale as an angel, and Lisa as a demon, fittingly captures their relationship, since Gale is the responsible one and Lisa is the troublemaker. So cute!
Tumblr media
A contribution from a new artist, Negativus Core! Wow, Gale looks so bada-- here! We often forget about Gale's tough side due to the cutesy graphics. This is probably how her enemies see her. And the gummy (slime) is a cute touch!
---------- FINAL NOTES ----------
Similar to last year, this will be the last update for a while. If things run too slow, I'll post a status update come end of February 2020.
It's possible, and this is a BIG IF, that something notable happens sooner than expected - like we're going to a con or we have reason to drop the trailer sooner than later. If so, this blog will update earlier than expected. BIG IF. Otherwise, it's end of February till next you hear of us.
The game's development has reached a new uncharted territory. We're going to take the time and figure out exactly what our next steps are. In addition, we'll still be doing some playtesting and script polishing. And we'll be taking a break too. It is the holiday season, things move kind of slow around this time of year. We'll enjoy the company of our family and friends.
Until then, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

@plumb1tes
(The image was made by me)
It’s a real good image. I want to let you know from the beginning of this review that CD and I have both been raving about what a good troll Charyl is from the second she set (prosthetic) foot in our inbox. She’s so so creepy and we both love her so much.
FIRST: Alternia, and she’s closer to being in the Hiveswap setting then the Hivebent one.
I think given our current info re: Hiveswap all that tells us is that she is living before Feferi was hatched.
Name (preferably include how you came up with it and why): Charyl (derived from one of the Deathstalker scorpion’s venom known to cause paralysis) Thytue (from a genus of scorpion called ‘Tityus’)
Age: 7.85 sweeps
Strife Specibus: Needlekind (the sewing kind)
I like it, especially since you can also swap it with the hypodermic kind. If I may suggest another option, maybe stringkind? She could use anything from silly string (comedic), to thread (thematic), to fishing line (deadly).
Fetch Modus: I can never think of a good one, lol.
I have two for you! The first is a simple SINGING MODUS based off Singer sewing machines.
The second is a CLAW CRANE MODUS like the ones you see in arcades and are invariably rigged to some extent. I like this for a few reasons:
1) it harkens back to her toy theme which is present throughout her bio, and
2) you could have the “claw” of this modus be her limp doll hand, which would just look so creepy.
Blood color: Cerulean,
Symbol and meaning: Scorrius, sign of the cunning (Hope + Derse)
We’ll get to that later in your bio!
Trolltag: tetraplegicTrinket (it’s referring to her dolls, which are trolls that are essentially permanently paralyzed, and she dolls them up)
It’s a good name! If you want to alter it slightly you can go for quadriplegicTinkerer so her abbreviation can be QT.
Quirk: Sh3 tr13s to 1ncoporat3 h3r s1gn 1n h3r sp33ch! (i want to find something that suits her better, if you have any suggestions!)
|-|-|-|- H(::)w about that she begins and ends her sentences with f(::)ur stitches and replaces “o” with (::)? -|-|-|-|
|-|-|-|- B(::)th as a d(::)llmaker and as s(::)me(::)ne with bifurcated visi(::)n eightf(::)ld? -|-|-|-|
|-|-|-|- Als(::) it mimics the cutesy way s(::)me l(::)lita girls talk by making their (::)’s r(::)under -|-|-|-|
Special Abilities (if any): Vision eightfold, with it being split to both her eyeballs, to appear like buttons, going along with her doll-like theme. It doesn’t really do much for her.
I mean tbh that holds up. We don’t know how much of Vriska’s own abilities were from her vision eightfold, her psychic mutation, or her eventual role as a Thief of Light. The girl had a lot of stuff going on.
Lusus: ScorpionMom, a giant scorpion that paralyzes Charyl’s dolls for her with her giant stinger. She also eats the trolls that die after being turned into dolls. Charyl also laces her needles with her lusus’s poison, to kidnap trolls she finds fit for being turned into dolls. Their relationship is pretty good, all things considered, though ScorpionMom keeps to herself, most of the time. This adds on to Charyl’s feeling of isolation.
I think this is oddly permissive for a ceruleanblood lusus; while Vriska’s Spidermom was obviously an extreme case, it seems that bigger lusii generally need to get fed, and will not necessarily take kindly to their ward dangling almost-available food in front of them while they finish playing with it. I think it makes more sense that Charyl uses her lusus’s poison to paralyze (and eventually kill) her victims where Scorpionmom’s full sting would out-and-out kill a troll. It can still play into her isolation because she’ll need to work to keep away from her mom while her doll is still alive, and it still gives her an easy method of getting rid of the bodies.
Apperance: She is a tall troll, around 5’9, and rather thin. Charyl has vision eightfold, though split, and makes her eyes look like buttons. She styles her hair into two long twintails, and a bow wrapped around her horn that has her symbol on it. Charyl dresses in gothic trollita garb, which is mostly made by herself, consisting of a black, frilly dress with a cerulean bow, and mary janes, and knee-high socks.
GOTHIC TROLLITA. HOLY SHIT I LOVE IT.
Charyl is a quadruple amputee, from an accident where one of her dolls, a fellow cerulean blood, was under-dosed, and managed to mind control Charyl into breaking and contorting her own limbs, as a way of revenge. The cerulean blood escaped, and Charyl managed to recover from the life-threatening experience. She managed to take some rather large doll parts, and fashion them into workable replacement limbs with the help of an acquaintance experienced in robotics.
Hm. So I like the premise of this a lot. With that said, do we have evidence that psychic cerlueanbloods can influence their peers? After all, part of what makes them so dangerous is that they have psychic abilities on par with a lowblood sans their requisite vulnerabilities. If I may suggest a different scenario with a similar outcome, perhaps an indigoblood with a particularly STRONG immune system failed to succumb to the poison in the expected timeframe and overcame her with their remaining strength. This could spur her distaste for kidnapping highbloods and still leave her disabled.
Personality: She’s pretty bubbly and energetic, and quite motherly. Sometimes she wishes she were a jadeblood so she could take care of a wriggler. She also treats her dolls (both living and nonliving), like her children, loving to dress them up and take care of their needs. However she is also very controlling, and is quite uncomfortable whenever she isn’t able to offer her opinion, or do things how she wants.
She’s pretty spoiled from her highblood upbringing, but is equally friendly to both highbloods and lowbloods, due to her not caring about the hemospectrum that much (though she turns more lowbloods into her dolls than highbloods, due to them being easier to abduct). Charyl is a lonely troll, and uses her dolls as a way to not feel as alone as she does, due to her lack of friends outside of the ones she meets online.
Yeah kidnapping lowbloods sure is easier when everything about the hemospectrum makes them easier to kill huh?
Due to the experience with the cerulean blood (which is one of the reasons why she prefers lowbloods for her dolls), she hardly leaves her hive, aside from going outside to find new victims. She is also socially awkward, and prefers the company of her dolls, mostly due to not fearing the social apprehension she feels when interacting with highbloods.
Interests: Charyl absolutely loves fashion, especially gothic trollita clothes. She likes sewing, and making her own dresses and accessories, for herself, and also her dolls.
If it wasn’t obvious, she also is obsessed with dolls, though her favorite type are the trolls she kidnaps, and permanently paralyze with her lusus’s poison. Most are unable to speak, and eventually die to the poison. Charyl dotes on them, dressing them up and taking care of their needs. She has a rather large collection of both living and nonliving dolls.
Charyl also likes playing doctor, though treats “patients” through the process of bloodletting, with the same needles she uses for her sewing.
Title: (got any suggestions?)
I do, because I don’t think she’s actually a Hope player. I mean if we wanted to stay on that track she’d be more likely to be a Rage player because her whole schtick is narrowing her own and others’ options, and I could make arguments for her being a Life or a Doom player, buuuuut.
You’ve made her bio one that’s very Of Things. She likes having material things, whether they’re bodies or dolls or clothes. And her hobby of kidnapping real, actual trolls to turn them into dolls is technically a form of recycling and of creativity.
Basically, she’s a fucked-up kind of Space player. More specifically, she’s a Thief of Space, which is GREAT because she’s like if Kanaya and Vriska had a creepy and fashionable lovechild, ESPECIALLY given that you said she sometimes wishes she was a jadeblood!
Her inverse would be a Page of Time, which I think kind of works given that she’s effectively fucking with others’ time both by freezing their progress and by dramatically shortening their lives!
Land: Doesn’t have one yet! Still on the fence on if she’ll actually play sburb or not
That’s fine! For the sake of argument let’s say her land is Land of Chloroform and Frogs (LOCAF). All these frogs just floating in chloroform. Maybe some of them are splayed out like an anatomical diagram. Maybe some of them have been taxidermied. Many of them will be dissected like a high school bio unit. It’ll certainly make it easy to see which frog have the anatomical traits you want in the future Bilious Slick. The Land probably isn’t even safe to traverse without a gas mask given how damn fast the stuff works. It’s macabre and fits really well with how Space players’ frogs tend to be frozen in time in some manner.
Dream Planet: Derse
I definitely agree that she’s a Dersite given how much she seems to be in her head. With that, she’s a Scorga, sign of the Deviser, which sufficiently vague that I guess it works?
…Oh MAN I just looked that one up and the fuckin’ arrow tail looks like a scorpion poised to strike! It’s perfect for her!
Thanks again!
Thank YOU for this creepy creepy lady! My redesign will be very very minimal but HOO BOY did I have fun making her sprite!
Tumblr media
This is gonna come with my requisite list of credits especially because I do not have a tablet and had no goddamn idea where to start with spriting her dress. That base is from deviantart user Thefantrolls and was then heavily edited to match your picture. The horns are straight-up Vriska’s, the bow is from naphal, and the hair was made by compositing like 4 different fan-troll templates.
For the redesign, I used a prosthetic base by hmnj to make it a little more obvious that her legs are prosthetic while maintaining the doll aesthetic. For the hair I wanted to do the scorpion callback but didn’t want to do anything as obvious as the stinger braid (especially since it might lose the lolita aesthetic), so I took a note from Gothorita’s design and tried to give her scorpion claw buns?
Anyway thank you again for this scary scary woman I can’t wait to see her in action.

@game studios: please stop making open world games until you know how to handle them.
I have an unpopular opinion. I personally do not care for open world games. I can no longer be impressed by realistic ocean graphics, individual blades of grass, randomly generated weather, or glitchy, twitching, randomly spawned wildlife. I’m over it. I may just be yelling into the void here, but in my opinion, open world games give writers too much room to be lazy. Or, on the inverse, it spreads everything so thin that not only does it destroy any sense of urgency, but it also destroys any emotional beats the narrative tries to set up.
The W*tcher 3 and DAI are both really good examples of this. Everything in W3 with C*ri screamed for urgency and expediency. This was your DAUGHTER and she was going to be MURDERED if you didn’t find her before the Wild Hunt did!!! But then I just ended up dicking around and doing the same go here, kill this, rinse, repeat kinds of quests all over the map for literal months. There was no reason for me not to do so! The world was right there, and C*ri apparently could wait for me to finish hunting down every giant bird monster the world had to offer. By the time I got back around to the story, I had basically forgotten what was happening and why the game wanted me to be concerned about it. C*ri showed up and I was like oh cool, she’s still fine I guess. Better go play some more Gwent. It not only destroyed the urgency the writing tried to instill in me, but it also kind of crushed the sincerity of most of the moments between G*ralt and C*ri. Like, he loves her and she loves him, but I also just had Witcher Daddy running around collecting playing cards while his daughter was being chased down by evil inter-dimensional elves. There really wasn’t much reason for me to prioritize C*ri or the narrative over my dicking around. That, and Skellige was an active fucking nightmare and broke me as a person. How dare you put that many quest markers in a map that’s so fucking miserable to navigate. I try to 100% most games I play, and had done pretty well up until that point. Then I saw all those stupid fucking dive points and just wished I could launch myself into the sun.
At least W3 was interesting though. F*nal Fantasy XV had the problem of having the most horrifically dull open world I’ve ever encountered, along with the most BORING quests being repeated until the whole game was a blur of shitty particle effects and giant chickens. It got to the point where I just skipped all of the boring side shit and tried to cram my way through the story, because god damn it I had already played this much and I was going to at least finish this bitch of a game. At which point I ran into the OPPOSITE problem of W3.
FFXV’s writers seemed to think that the game itself was interesting enough that I would take time between each story mission to explore the world, but in reality  I had absolutely no reason to do so. Navigating the world was tedious and boring (I WOULD RATHER ENDURE LOADING SCREENS FOR ALL ETERNITY THAN THOSE STUPID CAR RIDES), and the even the special area missions were boring and repetitive. I was dreading every diner, every dungeon, and that god damn frog woman. I wanted to finish the story and never have to wait in a glitchy diner bounty screen ever again. This led to some incredibly awkward narrative beats.
Literally right as the game started the emotional narrative was all over the place. Noct and friends are seemingly gallivanting around and having the Best Bro Trip 5Ever literal hours after their home city is invaded and Noct’s dad is murdered. Noct was sad about it for one cut scene, but then we’re riding giant chickens around and throwing around little cutesy quips (that got repeated so much that I started putting the game on mute while I was traveling between quests just so I wouldn’t be annoyed by the repetitive dialogue). Then there was literally everything with Aranea. I love Sharp Wife more than literally every other character aside from Iggy, but her introduction to the party being ham-fisted right next to her becoming a temporary companion was like fucking whiplash. I played those missions really close together, and I was just sitting there like, why is everyone laughing and joking around like everything is fine? Like you were literally JUST trying to run my emo ass through with your javelin thing, and now you’re just betraying a massive empire after spending ten minutes with me and my group of jackoffs (not you, Iggy, you’re perfect)?? LIKE WHAT? THEY’RE JUST OK WITH THAT?!?!
The worst to me was the Gl*dio story arc. After the fight with the titan thing he’s all pissed for reasons that were completely beyond me, and then he and Noct have a conversation that didn’t really seem to be all that angry to me at the time. Like he said he needed to take care of some personal stuff, and me as the player was like, yeah man, shit’s pretty fucked right now, you do what you gotta do. Then he's out of the party and I’m like ok you do you bud, we’ll see ya later. But then the whole party is like freaking out about it like it was some huge betrayal after literally an hour. Like we got out of the cut scene and they’re immediately lamenting like he’s been gone for days and days, when for me as a player it’s been like... Two hot seconds. So, in order to stop their bitching and get Gladdy Daddy back, I just ran to the next story mission in the hopes that I would be able to get him back and everyone would quit crying about it. Well, I didn’t have to wait long, because he shows up in like the next mission WEARING A FUCKING SPACE SUIT OR SOME SHIT, and apparently nobody recognizes him FOR REASONS?!?! Like?!?! HOW MANY GIANT MEN WHO SUMMON GIGANTIC SWORDS AND SOUND EXACTLY LIKE YOUR LIFELONG FRIEND DO YOU KNOW, NOCT?! Anyways, long story short, they’re all being obnoxious emo little fucks then after two hours Gl*dio is back and everyone is fine and back to repeating the same annoying dialogue. It was fucking stupid and I ended up just giving up on the game after that.
The only game I’ve played recently that I thought handled being an open world well was AC: Odyssey, and I think there’s two reasons for that: 1) the narrative doesn’t take itself too seriously most of the time (you KILLED his mater and FUCKED his PATER), and 2) it’s literally an odyssey. Sailing and journeying are kind of the whole point. That and it was all different enough that every island felt distinct and the game only crashed for me like once and none of the bugs were game-breaking (my experience with W3 left me burned, I had entire questlines that were broken because the starting point was bugged and CD Pr*jekt Red apparently never fixed the bugs in question).
Point being, I haven’t really seen much evidence of open worlds adding anything to games other than some flashy visuals. I much prefer games that have a set map with set things to do. Sure it doesn’t feel like an entire world to be mastered at my fingertips, but it also tends to crash less and each part and character can get the attention they deserve without having to worry about everything else being generated as I go for the sake of realism.
TLDR; open worlds won’t fix bad writing and they will break the fuck out of good writing.
