#and then the way elijah says tristan's devotion to aurora is 'pathological' like that's not a mirror to him and klaus

"you made him. tristan." "i think it would be more accurate to say that we made each other." i cannot believe that this stupid show bungled this relationship, what an absolutely solid set up that they did nothing with.
anyway tristan and elijah were exes.

Do you think Tristan might appear in legacies not that his sister is in it?
Hi there! I think you are my first curious anon this year. Huzza!
Fair warning: This is probably going to be a rambling chaos.
From a narrative point of view? No. But I was also pretty sure that Aurora wasn't going to appear a week ago so what do I know?
Tristan has never exactly been a fan favorite character (except for me). At least with Aurora, Rebecca Breeds is coming from her starring role in Clarice. Oliver Ackland is big in Australia but not very well known internationally. I don't think the actor or the character would represent a big appeal for the general audience (Again: Except for me)
Then you have the small issue of being dead.
Resurrection has always been a thing in the TVD universe but each series approaches the issue differently.
Legacies has the Necromancer who can revive supernatural beings with unprecedented ease but not much is said about other individual witches or covens able to perform similar spells. That's likely a conscious choice because if they delve into the possibility too much it would generate questions that are difficult to answer.
Why isn't Hope, extraordinarily powerful as she is, seeking for a way to revive Hayley, Klaus or whoever else?
This universe also has a tendency to present bonds between siblings of unparalleled importance. But that doesn't mean the individual characters can't stand on their own.
It is perfectly possible to have a season with only Damon. He would just be incomplete without Stefan.
It is perfectly possible to have a season with only Klaus. He would just be incomplete without Elijah.
Even in Legacies itself. It is perfectly possible to have a season with only Lizzie or Josie. Same deal.
I would argue that Aurora and Tristan are the greatest case of this kind of bond. Elijah describes Tristan as pathologically devoted to his sister and he says that Aurora would do anything for Tristan. When Elijah Mikaelson, king of clinging to your brother no matter what, calls you out for how strangely close you are to your sibling, you know that you reached the top of the mountain.
Aurora doesn't require Tristan to cause tons of mischief. And I have no doubt he is applauding and cheering for her from whatever underworld he is in.
I would be concerned if they do return him to the stage. This is a different set of writers. I would be very cautious about what they might try to do with Tristan.
But would I feel cheated, insulted, mad as hell and heartbroken if they don't even acknowledge the relationship or mention it only to portray it in a negative light? 100%
And if Aurora feels like doing an intensive and fast course in the magical arts to reunite with his brother while she in in her new body....You know....Please go on?
Do I think they are going to bring him back? No.
Prove me wrong, Legacies.
No. Seriously.
Prove me wrong.
I dare you.
I double dare you.
Do it.

happy holidays! how does aurora feel knowing her brother is actually dead now and not drowning repeatedly under the ocean?
Well, I can tell you that Aurora for one is not having a happy holiday.
Long, vaguely unfocused, rambling about Tristan and Aurora under the cut
To say that Aurora isn’t handling it well would be an understatement.  I’m going to have to answer this in a sort of round about way, because I’m sure that there are a lot of people that assume that Aurora is relieved that her brother no longer suffers.  I understand why people think this, given how close Aurora came to killing Elijah specifically for that purpose, but to assume that it stops there would neglect pretty much everything that we know about Aurora.  At her core, Aurora is very selfish, and part of this comes from how long Tristan has allowed her to be selfish and for how long he’s spoiled her.  At their core, Aurora is used to being taken care of, and Tristan is used to taking care of her.
Now, this is where people will probably point out Aurora’s lines about “the modern weapon for the modern woman” or the fact that she undermined Tristan’s plan with Rebekah.  Frankly, Aurora is only modern when it’s convenient for her.  The moment that things don’t go her way, we see her back to with Tristan.
I think that Tristan gets a bad reputation in the fandom a lot of the time and it’s partly due to people not recognizing the bias in Aurora’s “Tristan, I love him, but he can be a bit daft sometimes.  Thanks to him...”  line where she goes on to detail the various things that she’s suffered over the centuries which people assume that he forced her into.  People tend to take Aurora’s words at face value, which, with Aurora you can’t really do.  When we first see Tristan and Aurora in the Monastery, after the sword fight, Aurora is asking Tristan to take her with him.  To which he replies that it will be soon, but not yet.  She points out that not only has he promised her that before, but multiple times.  People take this to mean that he’s holding her prisoner there, but we see her slaughter the monks and leave when it suits her. She always had the power to leave, but chose not to until it suited her.  And then, when things with Klaus didn’t work out the way she intended, where did she go?  Right back to Tristan.
Aurora is incredibly smart and very manipulative, but she has always had Tristan there to clean up her messes and tell her everything will be alright when she doesn’t get her way.  Aurora can develop and enact devious plans, we see her do this many times.  Yet, she still always goes back to Tristan to fix her problems, an he does so, repeatedly, and without blinking.
Tristan is always willing to put himself in the line of fire if it means sparing Aurora.  We first see this in the flashback where Lucien becomes a vampire.  I’ve talked about this before on the gifset, but I’ll repeat myself here:  Tristan literally pushes Aurora behind him while puffing up his chest to make himself a bigger target when Lucien comes at them with a knife.  When Tristan sees the wrecked car, he knows Klaus has Aurora and he doesn’t waste time before agreeing to any and all terms to get her back.  And, most importantly, when his lungs are literally filling with water and he takes pains to comfort Aurora instead of the practical matter of trying to explain where he is so that she can come and get him.  His first and really only thought is to try and preserve her emotional well-being.
Aurora’s desire to kill Elijah was similar to those moments where she breaks out on her own and comes up with her own plan so that she could be the one to be the caretaker for a change because she felt that she owed it to Tristan, but this goes against the fundamental dynamic that she and Tristan have been operating in since they were children.  Aurora tried to kill Elijah to end Tristan’s suffering because she felt it was what she should do, but ultimately, Aurora can’t live in a world without Tristan to anchor and shield her, not in any long term sense because Tristan has largely spoiled and sheltered her for over one thousand years.
I think that Aurora tried to comfort herself with the idea that Tristan is no longer suffering, but ultimately that won’t matter much to her because she is suffering.  The loss of Tristan is like a gaping hole in her heart.  They’ve never been apart for longer than a few weeks.  Elijah himself says “wherever Tristan goes Aurora soon follows.”    Unlike the Mikaelson’s who had periods apart due to daggers, Tristan and Aurora have been together for every part of a thousand years.
And, not only does Aurora not have Tristan, she also doesn’t have Lucien either.  Lucien is her alternate anchor, for whenever she’s cross with Tristan.  Without either of these men, Aurora is utterly unmoored.  Aurora’s first thought was to fill her pockets full of rocks and go join Tristan, and the only thing that stopped her from doing that was the idea that she could find his body, bury it properly in France, and then kill herself to join him.  A world without Tristan isn’t one that Aurora wants to live in, or could function in, even if she wanted to.
Tristan is her anchor, her shield, and her safety net.  Without Tristan, there is no Aurora.  Elijah said that Tristan’s devotion to Aurora is “pathological” but I think that Aurora’s devotion to Tristan is as well.
TL;DR:  Aurora is a wreck and just waiting to find Tristan’s body and bury it properly so that she can kill herself and share a coffin with him forever.
