Something interesting to me is that if we're talking about religion and our individual relationships with it, I will end up coming out as trans and/or aromantic, infodump about my parents' and grandparents' past, and clearly illustrate my political values just so you can see where I'm coming from. These things are somehow so tied to my relationship with religion that it is literally impossible to understand how I feel about religion without knowing any/all of these things

#bringing this up because i literally talked about this with my new friend today in the required physical education class #i may infodump rn so if you don't want the rant then stop here and pick back up at the my posst tag #ok so basically my mom's dad was a pastor at a deaf church and then a lutheran pastor in florida for all of my mothers life and to this day #but my dad's mom is an italian immigrant so she's heavily roman carholic and lives with us so my family is catholic and my mom converted #so basically until the age of like 6 i was at the church or a chur ch building at least twice a week #and monthly im in a church or churchc building 5 or 6 times bc idk #it is saturated into my life #but so when i found out i was trans it was like wow crazy i wonder what my church thinks #and then one mass i heard this deacon start spewing homophobic and transphobic bullshit and knew instantly i was not welcome #plus yknow the whole god is love and all who live in love live in god and then im aro and had a very severe disconnect with love for a year #ish #also that's a real psalm #btw #anyways #so last sunday this same fucking deacon (i hate this man) was talking about abortion #he was using the story where the disciple went into that town and told people to repent as like a metaphor for people to repent for abortion #but this time it wasn't a lecture #this time there was a call and response factor where people said AMEN in response to him repeating ABORTION IS MURDER #but in the same fucking mass they're like oh peace in the middle east and justice for israel #like okay abortion is murder but the genocide of the Palestinian people and slaughtering of alive babies is not? where is the fucking logic? #oh also they were calling for a rally putside my local planned parenthood which immediately struck fear in my heart #even though ive never been to one i know that they're a vital service #anyways so all these fucking things makes a big ol disconnect from the catholic church for me #oh also irony! they played here at the feast made for everyone at the same mass w/the abortion rant #single handedly alienated a sizable percent of their youth and queer audiences but yknow #it's whatever #long story short im a fucked up kid raised catholic #i think if i regain belief in god then im gonna go for folk catholocism or become non practicing #i think thats the whole rant #my posst
