hello! i love your tjol posts with saff and ruben! out of curiosity, do you play with custom life stages or do you play your legacy with aging off and have their birthdays at a certain point?

I love how slow and comfy their story feels with the length of time that's pased! ✨🫶

Hey! Thank you for liking my posts and for liking how slow it is! Sometimes I feel like I'm not moving along fast enough, but it's hard for me to get attached to my sims if I don't take my time with them. So thank you for reaffirming that!

I just opened my game to look at my current MC settings and write it down on paper (so I would have a record for myself, lol). I use the custom age span duration feature that comes with MCCC. It's very similar to the one shared by simkhira, which is perfect in that it makes so much more sense than the EA default. However, I personally wanted slightly longer stages for children, teens, and adults, which is why I lengthened their duration. I play on normal life span and adjust the age span duration as follows:

I used to have my seasons set to 7 days (so a full year would last 28 days), but I found myself having to celebrate holidays all the time, which made it feel like more of a burden. So I switched to 14 day seasons which has made for a more relaxed pace in terms of gameplay.

Twinhills - Calender, Festives, Religion & Deities

EDIT: Woops. I haven’t finished this post. Sorry! Added the rest of the text. I’m dumb. *facepalm*

I’ll be visiting my family the next few days, so I won’t be able to post or play. Which is inconvinient, because I played some of my families and can’t wait for the next gaming session! In the meantime you might be interested in Twinhill’s deities/religions and their respective holidays.

Calender

I didn’t reinvent the wheel. There are 4 diffrent seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Eaxis default 1st season is summer. Mine is spring. All seasons last 7 days, which is very convienient, because they all start on mondays and end on sundays. (season = rotation, in my game) Every year is 28 days long. (Almighty Hat’s aging mod extends the lifespans of sims to 112 days, so they have 4 years to do all their stuff, before becoming elder.) On the 1st day of the rotation every household pays a visit to their local shrine/temple/church whatev. On the last day of the rotation a seasonal holiday is celebrated one or other way. After the season changed (around 3 o’clock in the morning) I wait until one of my sims is up to pay taxes. This is usually around 8 o’clock. (Sometimes it’s not as easy, when there are toddlers or an emergency. But usually it’s before noon. And after that they go to their shrine etc. and everything starts anew.)

Holidays

Piqiwi offers a mod to make your own holidays, as mentioned before and I used it already to design my 4 seasonal holidays:

Spring: Festival of Blossoms A feast to celebrate the arrival of spring and the new year. Basically New Year’s Eve with flowers and pranks!

Summer: Rainbow Festival Basically Midsummer Night, but with more debauchery and escalation.

Autumn: Feast of the Dead The day of the Dead might be an opportunity to mourn the dead. Or celebrate the fact, that you are still alive. Your choice.

Winter: Day of Silence Yule... Christmas. There I said it. I’m not that creative. :(

Nobody has to work or go to school on that day (I assume if there is a college student, who happens to have his/her exams on these days, he/she will still have to go to the finals... Imagine that... Finals on christmas. Terrible. But since there is a long way to go until I established a college, I ignore this flaw for now)

Religions

Since I wanted to have one deity for every season there had to be 4 religions.

Brothers/Sisters of Siofra

Deity: Siofra Season/Holiday: Spring/Festival of Blossoms Tenets: No Wrath, No Violence Siofra is the goddess of mercy and peace. Her childlike appearance resembles new life and energy of growing things. Her followers call themselves brothers and sisters. She favours Plantsims and is revered all around the world.

“Be kind to your fellow men. Don't hurt the innocent. Be generous and merciful.”

The Path

Deity: Aeshma Season/Holiday: Summer/Rainbow Festival Tenets: No Theft Aeshma is a god, which appears in both male and female form. Depending on whom’s looking at him/her he/she will always choose the form, the target desires most. Sims calling for his/her aid, when changes come. He/she is a deity of revolution, curiosity and dark fantasies.

“Do not talk about fight club.”

The Lumen Kin

Deity: Oghmor Season/Holiday: Autumn/Feast of the Dead Tenets: No Violence, No wrath, No Disrespect The great sky and the deep sea are mysterious entities and there is a whole unseen and unknowable world behind our universe. Oghmor is a representation of the great beyond and all secrets of the universe. He favours all supernatural creatures, but likes Aliens and Witches the most. His followers are the lumen kin, as they have seen a light far brighter, than any other.

“Know the truth. Respect your Elders. Gather knowledge. Earn wisdom.”

Paragons of the Sun

Deity: Praios Season/Holiday: Winter/Day of Silence Tenets: No Theft, No Indiscretion, No Disrespect

Praios is a lawful good god. He dislikes the supernatural and reveres order and duties fullfilled. He is the patron of all knights, fighters and soldiers. His followers are the Paragons/Maidens of the Sun. The fierce fighters are faithful and honorable (most of the time).

“Obey the Law. Work hard, and you will be rewarded. Spend wisely, and you will be comfortable. Never steal, or you will be punished.”
