I feel like John would give really good hugs. He'd bear hug you, but not so tight that it hurts, just enough that it's soothing. Ronon, however, would hug to kill (cannot breathe when he hugs you. People have learned to hold their breath if they see him coming in to hug)

it's a well known fact in the city that john rarely hugs anyone but a hug from john can and will heal pretty much all of your problems. carson has tried multiple times to convince him to give hugs more often for health reasons. john still refuses.

ronon on the other hand cannot stop hugging anyone and everyone every single opportunity he gets. carson keeps asking him to watch his strength bc at least once a month someone ends up in the infirmary with bruised or even cracked ribs from a Ronon Hug (no one can say no to him tho bc he went 7 years without hugs and no one can bring themselves to deny him the much needed human touch he craves)
