Metro Guitar Shows presents the Waxahachie Guitar Show. It will be a 2 day Festival March 2 and 3, 2019. This year will be bigger and better than ever before. Saturday March the 2nd will open to the public at 10:00 a.m. and have live music all day until 6 p.m.. I’m really enjoying my rejuvenated 1962 #Fender #Reverb unit (with 1961 #Deluxe #amp, and 1971 #ES335 in the background). For anyone just tuning in, I had sent it to my amp guy, @marshalllespaulfan, to have the power switch repaired and a grounded power cable installed (‘cos it kept zapping me!), and asked him to do his usual checkup on it to ensure all components were functioning properly. The reverb had been sounding harsh and generally shite, and I wanted to know if it was being caused by bad tubes or caps or whatever... In the end the issue was tracked down to the original reverb tank - a spring had become unattached due to a broken clip. Repair was not realistic and the best option was to replace the tank, so @marshalllespaulfan installed a @modkitsdiy tank (ordered from @amplifiedparts) with the same specs as the original. And wow, what a difference it made. Reposted from @marshalllespaulfan #straturday test drive of @dunnermusic 's freshly serviced 1965 Fender Vibro Champ. Replaced a few previously replaced parts to bring it back more in line with spec values and the right look. Nice previously replaced CE Mfg can cap which can be found at @amplifiedparts. Nothing wrong with the previously replaced Classic Tone output transformer either; this amp sounds fantastic. The speaker has been replaced too, but if I'm not wrong, it is a 1959 Jensen C8R. I mean, is everything created in that year magical? . Here it is next to @deebeeus ' 1965 Champ; on extended residency here, away from the vaunted Tonehenge 😉. Very different tones; the VC is bigger and bolder sounding, smoother too. Amazing strat tone. The Champ has more gain and definitely cuts thru more, and pairs well with a Les Paul. "... Sam Ash Fuzzz Boxx / Astro Astrotone Fuzz built on our wide spacing 2x8 pseudo eyelet board. The case is a hand-painted sloped YY enclosure, and the knobs are our newly-added P-K402 knobs, which are in the same style as the originals. There's a Lumberg power jack as well as a battery-power option which can be disconnected via the side rocker switch (P-H518). There were multiple transistor types used in the originals. This build uses silicon Fairchild TO-5s with a similar hfe range and the B-E junction of two TO-5 transistors for the clipping diodes. The insulation used on many of the leads is NOS, but it's very similar to our white old-style spaghetti sleeving, S-M436W. The last two photos are layouts for different build options. The first one, the "Tone Fix" option, adds an extra capacitor not found in the originals in order to squeeze a little more functionality out of the tone control, which is otherwise somewhat lackluster. The last photo is the original Fuzzz Boxx circuit. There is an added 100uF power supply stabilization cap in both layouts. Note that I used 9mm pots here to give the knobs wider spacing. Their 5mm bushings do not make it all the way through the thick walls of the YY enclosure, so they were epoxied in. 16mm Alpha pots have slightly longer bushing where that may not be a problem, but the knobs would have to be a little closer together."

Slide 6 shows a CBS 2N158 (the large black cyllindrical type) which is threaded on the top for screw-mounting, two TI types marked 0605 F032, a 2N498 with fins, and a Sprague MA-105B.
