they look almost exactly like him; sans vitiligo, heterochromia, and much shorter hair length. the crown is a darker take on the "when i say king, you say leo" phrase Leo said in the lair games, and the coat is purely for aesthetic purposes and because i like how it looks on them

how i feel about this character -

where to even begin??? he means so much to me, like i love him so much and also admire him greatly but also can see when he's doing Not The Healthiest and oughhhh i think i understand what he's doing and why he does things & i sort of find him relatable in kinda of... not major ways?? like i've said this before but he's like a massive dork trying to be cool which is definitely something i can relate to, & the whole standing-outside-the-bookshop-waiting-for-aziraphale in the final fifteen, that is something i would do. - & HIS GENDERRRR and i love his funny little things, his collection of Soul Music in the book, the bullet-hole stickers in the bentley window, how he finds Thee Most Ridiculous outfits to wear and pulls it off flawlessly no one questions a thing, asks Aziraphale to come look at a graveyard in the middle of the night with him, let Zira have his deserts, follows him around the neighbourhood on errands, goes to the movies by himself when he's sulking, drives through a wall of hellfire even though half an hour earlier he was going to presumably teleport to alpha centauri, and all his little moments in the book that just make me love him so so so so much and oh dear that's a long sentence isn't it. lots of love for the man(or otherwise)-shaped being. yeah. hehe

my headcanon for Crowley is that he smoked for a really long time, long thin cigarettes, for the Aesthetics and general Cool Person Vibes, but also because it's yknow a vice & is bad for you but people like it & do it anyways. (and not ad for him cos a. demon and b. can;t get sick) he'd sit there in a seductive cloud of smoke as Aziraphale pointedly coughed and complained about the smell of smoke getting into the books. he only gave it up when you stopped being able to smoke in restaurants.

also (it's technically canon and i wrote a little fic about this but anyways) i think Crowley does like reading & does read books but he really likes the kind of books Aziraphale thinks are Beneath Him, like fantasy & sci fi & spy novels, same as he likes sitcoms.

it’s midnight i’m going to go on a tangent about my genderfluidity

my gender is so weird. one day i’ll be like “ah yes i think my preferred pronouns are he/him and i like to be referred with either masculine or unisex terms” but then some time later i just randomly refer to myself as she and a girl in the third person and it just. works.

then i call myself a man or a person and it also works sometimes. my gender does not flip like a switch it quietly morphs in the background and i don’t realize it until it has crept up behind me and whispered in my ear what it wants and i’m just like “ok then!”

one day i think i have it all figured out like “yes, im nonbinary through and through” and then a month later like “am i just. a cis woman?” and it’s reached the point where i think it’s past my gender questioning dance and reached my gender just be weird and shifty all the time like abrosexuality but wi to genderrrr

and i legit forgot genderfluid was a thing for the longest time i was just like “i’m gender abrosexual it’s kinda weird” because my perception of genderfluid was the shift between genders being more immediate and recognizable. my gender just kinda slowly changes slower than i’m realizing it. and i kinda adjust how i present? and sometimes it’s conscious and sometimes it’s not but one day i’ll be like “FEELIN FEMME, TIME TO DRESS FEMME,” and then i realize “oh wait am i like. a girl?” and i am

so i think i might be trans? boys will be bugs is speaking to me and my heart goes oidfjoasdfoisdf :) when i imagine myself using he/him pronouns. but at the same time ive never hated femininity or looking feminine, and i dont want to cut my hair short, but he/him pronouns and being called a boy make me DFJALSDFJ :) you know? idk about they/them, the idea of being feminine with masculine pronouns and masc with male pronouns is nice to me. idk the middle groud or other ground just makes my head hurt

What do you think is a mistake that a lot of folks do when they try to write girl/women characters in animation? Is there something (like a trope or behavioral trait) that a lot of people (often dudes) put into their female protagonists that make female staff/viewers cringe or is just not how girls/women are? What would be a suggestion/suggestions you would give to improve female protagonists in animation industry??

Oooh man, good question…this is a tough one because…genderrrr.

But I’ll answer with my own experience…I’ve always been a bit of a Tom-boy. No painting nails and talking about boys all night. lol. But a lot of main stream cartoon girls are very much into boys, painting nails, or just doing really “girly” things. I was into animals and outer space and making home movies as a kid. So I didn’t really relate to those girls who acted more effeminate. I watched more Dragon Ball Z and Pokémon than…whatever girls shows there were.

So I’d say maybe if we’re writing female characters, let’s not assume they are effeminate people. They’re just people, and some like to get dolled up, and some don’t. The same can be said for guys.

Also, let’s avoid the “women are the helpers” thing. I see this happening still in a preschool show from DTV. Mickey and his pals are the Racers, and Minnie and Daisy are the “Happy Helpers.” In other words, they don’t participate–they just help other characters achieve their goals. This stuff is bad! These are old dumb stereotypes! (for some quality preschool content check out StoryBots on Netflix)

I also heard recently that Elena of Avalor “had to be beautiful” and a certain pair of princess sisters had to look sexy. For once I wish we had some princesses without toothpick waistlines.

I guess my best piece of advice would be just to write female characters based off of real women you know, and invent what you need to fill in the rest of their story.
