a ranking list of if I met yandere vn love interests irl, who would i date!
i love all of these games and characters a lot, this isn't a "best game" list, just as realistic compatibility as i can imagine!
ren/redacted: 14 days with you (i'm a simp and a fool 😔🤘 we will date and i will inevitably pay the price)
ezra: restart heart (should be #1 bc they're somehow the healthiest choice i think? also very pretty and flirty)
friend: see thru need a friend (he's funny and fun and i love friends to lovers trope! i can fix him 😌💖 probably not.)
jack: swwsdj (he is so supportive which i love but i CANNOT trust ghosts. would be the slowest burn ever)
alan: my dear hatchet man (super bad idea but he's charming!! if i just never found out about the murder we'd probably be cool. also don't kidnap me.)
liu: glass mind (very cute! but i think he is possessed and idk how to help so not sure about going steady!)
fone: honey hotline (i genuinely really like fone! 🥰 but i think we might be better friends? also if fone is not upfront about dating, i'll never think he wants to, and then we never will)
zachary: don't look (i like him a lot but i would handle being kidnapped so poorly he'd just kill me out of annoyance 💀)
adam: you and him (i will sooner throttle him. i can hold a grudge and this man STABBED me. we might hate kiss ONCE but that is it.)
keith or tenebris: duality (they both seem cool, but i am extremely against finding someone broken into my home, so i AM calling the cops and never seeing them again sorry 🥲)
casanova: cannibal sweetheart (i have not played this game but i am afraid of being eaten! if that is a possibility in this game then i'm sorry we can be friends instead!)
elias: groom of gallagher mansion (i'm not a ghost fucker. don't look at jack in 4th place thats different)
dachabo: dachabo (i'm also not a furry so absolutely not)
john doe: john doe (NEVER. HE DOES NOT BATHE AND WANTS TO KILL ME.)
moral of this list; never let me find out about your intent to kidnap me/murder/stalking/gaslighting, and we will be a very happy and healthy couple 😘

I’ve been posting on other online platforms about Fossil Fighters for a long time now, and most who are familiar with what I share know that a lot of my content has a heavy focus on original vivosaur ideas. With these vivosaurs I come up with, as well as the stats I create to go with them, I notice that there are often people questioning whether what I come up with would be balanced or not from a gameplay standpoint.
Tumblr media
As I’ve gone on with developing this unique vision for my vivosaurs, I’ve also slowly refined my idea of Fossil Battles entirely. All of us are aware that both the original Fossil Fighters and Fossil Fighters Champions don’t have the best balancing in the world. There are certain cast members and even a few core game mechanics that allow so many otherwise memorable characters to fall to the wayside, and with the stats I was coming up with I was only further encouraging that type of hostile environment. The more I worried about whether something I was coming up with would feel realistic or balanced the more I considered the fact that the formula itself may have been broken in the first place.
There have been others in the community that have projected their own ideas of how to change things up regarding gameplay, things like adding new elements or even having customizable skills. Because the series felt like it had ended so suddenly there's become so much to dream for in a potential sequel. These are the people that inspired me to attempt something similar myself back when I was making my vivosaur last year. It inspired me to take a step back with my thinking and ultimately led to me creating a total re-imagining of the classic battle system we all know and love.
That's the thing, the games may not be perfectly balanced, but I always find how these games work to be something that's just inherently fun in a very unique way. Above everything else, with this project I wanted the new system I was creating to still have the "feel" of having a good old-fashioned Fossil Battle. These games have incredible potential for an interesting competitive landscape, just if only some of those unbalanced mechanics were to be adjusted. This is what I strive to achieve the most with my ideas: an environment where every vivosaur has something practical to them, a format where you CAN win using your favorite vivosaurs. The only thing that should stop you is how well thought-out and unique of a strategy you can come up with.
Fossil Fighters Odyssey is a personal project of mine that I've technically been working on for over half a decade now. Still, I think it's most important to stress the fact that everything I come up with and will be talking about in this post is for fun. This shouldn't explicitly be seen as a vehicle for a potential fan game, I make these things for my own enjoyment and have no plans or obligations to turn any of these ideas into tangible content in the future. We all can pretty unanimously agree that it’s fun to dream about a theoretical continuation of this franchise, especially because of how it felt like it came to such an abrupt halt in a way none of us were really ready for. This project is simply meant to represent the changes I'd most want to see if that were to ever somehow happen, and that vision of mine simply might not appeal to your individual preferences.
Tumblr media
But now moving to the fun stuff itself. I strive to be as in-depth as possible when taking into account how I would rework the gameplay, taking a comprehensive look at the entire series. To keep things feeling familiar while also feeling like an "evolution" of sorts, I found it most compelling to try and utilize standout mechanics from all three of the previous games. Yes, that includes Frontier because, while I can't defend its battle system as a whole, I do think there are some features it introduced that can really enhance potential team building and strategy (mainly referring to the boost system it uses).
Since there are far too many changes to cover in a text post, I created a PowerPoint to explain everything in a more presentable and organized way. The link to it can be found directly below this paragraph, with the presentation being separated in order of different areas of discussion, from how vivosaurs have changed to the differences in the battle system to new and altered abilities and so much more! Plus, attached to this post are the stat sheets for every single vivosaur, #1-300. My own vivosaurs as well as the 10 unique vivosaurs from Frontier are included in the lineup, and all the vivosaurs you're already familiar with have received numerous changes and enhancements to their skill sets so that they can thrive in this new Fossil Battling format.

(Disclaimer: not all of the vivosaurs have artwork to correspond with their dino medals, but those will be hopefully trickling out down the line in the future.)
To round things out, I definitely want to thank the people that have already been supporting me and the things I create these past few years elsewhere. Without the level of the recognition and approval I see from the people who always respond to what I make, I definitely never would've come this far with developing my ideas. You guys are the ones who've been enjoying these things, from vivosaurs to characters to the overarching story I hope to one day be able to share with you all. I owe it to you for allowing myself to become as invested in my favorite series as I now am. And hey, depending on how people react to what I have here I may make another post outlining the more creative story and character elements I have in mind…
Thank you to everyone who's been there for all this time, as well as anyone willing to read through everything I've been able to put together here, this project never could've been completed without you all for me to share it with.

hey there! I got here via your dream post and stuck around to read your writing. The “realistic” sci fi worldbuilding is very cool - especially detailed explanations of how tech like FTL travel works! Have you considered running a homebrew campaign, or partnering with someone who writes character/plot driven fiction? I find that tends to generate a larger audience. Your character first-person writing has some interesting ideas! Quick tip - the overuse of commas chops up sentence flow and makes prose more difficult to read. Try editing to remove some!
Hey anon, I appreciate the ask and the compliments very much! Thanks for joining me here in my little corner of the web! I'm really glad you like my work; that makes me very happy to hear because I pour a lot of time and love into it!
...Buuut you've sort of hit a nerve here so I hope you're prepared for an essay response! I'm sorry in advance for how long this turned out to be and I hope this doesn't drive you off, eheh. Again, I do genuinely appreciate the feedback.
See, my default method of storytelling is speculative fiction: a concept or set of concepts is the center of the work, and almost all my characters are just cogs in the story machine. Sure, I have some characters I’m attached to, but the vast majority are just there because they have to be. They’re not the point of the story. Characters ARE important, but they rank lower to me than worldbuilding. When I generate story ideas, the characters are just temporary vehicles for the audience to connect with a concept I’m presenting.
And with that, we come to the problem that you've brought up which kicks me right in the ass every time: people always latch onto the characters, and don't give half as much of a damn about the setting. Yeah, I'm sensitive about that! Because I fall in love with technical details like planetary system structure and the mechanics of warp drives in much the same way as everyone else fixates on their "blorbos." That's why, when it comes to original work, you'll pretty much only find worldbuilding and writing posts on the blog –not to say I don't ever post anything about my OCs, but I can write whole essays about setting details and none of my OCs have that same depth.
And, anon? I'd like you to imagine how alienating that feels. I can't help but be upset when all of my friends are having fun making character playlists and talking about shipping while I'm sitting over in my corner with a twenty-page spreadsheet detailing the statistics of hundreds of stars and planets that nobody wants to read, because it's boring to everyone but me! I have tried to get involved, making characters for the hell of it to play in the same space as my friends. I wanna be excited about them, but they just don't hold my interest nearly as much. I can't change this, and it kinda fucking sucks sometimes!!!
Yes, sure, I could absolutely partner with someone who's better at characters and character-centric plot than I am! That's a good and practical suggestion! But you know what would happen? People would latch onto those characters and pay them much more attention than the setting they stem from, and I honestly don't think I could cope with that. I've tried this too, actually; I'm the one doing most of the heavy lifting when it comes to the Midnight Sea lore. I love getting into the gullyworks, tinkering around and fitting all the pieces together, making the world tick like a well-constructed mechanism. I know my friends like that about me too! That feels good! I just wish I got more credit/attention for that in itself, rather than for what it enables. I'm the minority when it comes to fictional focus, and I just have to live with that.
Also, yes, I'm aware I have a tendency to use lots of commas. I'm very sorry it hinders you, but it actually helps me when I read things back and when I'm organizing my thoughts. I'm sorry but that's a stylistic choice I don't think I can shake, but I'll try to be mindful of my comma usage going forward. ^~^;
Let me reiterate just one more time that I genuinely appreciate your ask, and I hope you stick around! I'm glad you're here! I'm sorry this got a little venty and I hope this doesn't come off as defensive or rude. It's just that this is something I feel strongly about and I wanted to take the opportunity to be honest about one of my biggest and most persistent struggles.

Hi, it's me again (i dunno why I did anonymous ask before)
Damn, now I'm really curious what the one fic in your bookmarks might be..
Anyway, I went through my bookmarks to see if there's anything you might enjoy. And it was kinda difficult because we have different taste in dnf fanfic and 90% off what I have are AUs..
For me personally, ao3 dnf and irl dnf became sort of like two separate ships that are somewhat intertwined. I'm not sure if I'm making any sense now, but basically for fanfic I feel like there is a certain way most authors tend to portray Dream and George and it they might have more in common across all the different fanfics than they have with their irl counterparts. I'm personally very comfortable with that because I still can't confidentially say I ship irl dnf (in the literal sense of - I actively want them to be together). If they ever became a couple it would make me happy and I eat up all the pandering but it's not something I realistically expect...
Anyway I enjoy the AUs very much because they have the familiar essence of characters I know but with a different twist so the plot isn't the same old every time.
Sorry for the essay I was trying to respond to what you said and explain my point of view but I'm in no way trying to imply your opinion wrong. Your points are very valid, you just have a different perspective than me, I think.
The recommendation I have for you is "i'd take care of you" by cranblackberry. It's very, very fluffy but if you're ever in the mood for that you might like it..? It's the second closest characterisation to irl dnf I have in my bookmarks and it's a "series" of two oneshots.
no i love it. it's a conversation for sure. i think some ships i'm disconnected enough from the source material that i can just think of the irl people/original characters and the fic characters as different things, like if i finished a show and started reading fic for it after. but since i'm currently so actively a fan of this content i have trouble switching back and forth. it's like i either want it to just not even be about them, or actually be totally in character, the middle ground is weird for me rn.
actually it's funny you say that about literally shipping bc like if you ask me what i "ship" i guess i would list like 15 things including dnf, but (and i think i said this on this blog a long long time ago) stucky is probably the only thing i actually technically ship, in the sense that i genuinely want them to get together canonically. me shipping dnf is more like me being entertained by their unusual and sometimes not-so-platonic friendship chemistry, i think the way they interact is cute, funny, charming, etc. and it makes me happy. i wouldn't say i really want them to date irl, though obviously if they did that's fine, it's none of my business. actually it's funny cause back in like 2014 i guess i could technically say i felt the same way about like dan and phil lmao and they actually were dating, but like frankly i didn't and don't care about their actual relationship, what i care about as a viewer is like...the joy that they bring each other and the joy it brings me to see them together, as friends or otherwise.
also i kind of love the same plot every time lmao. i'm like. let me find a good fic and then hit repeat with slight changes. i know that's boring but i've just found what i like.
also just marked your rec for later!

Cipher Academy ch.33 thoughts
[The Anonymity Chapter]
ANONYMITY!!! COLOR PAGE!!!!!
Red hair, blue-green eyes, she looks like if I were an anime girl, like Chie from Persona 4. But whereas I came to like Chie before playing Persona because of her design, obviously I've loved Anonymity because of her charmingly offputting personality from the moment she first opened her obnoxious little mouth, so her gaining a color scheme that resonates with me is just a fun little bonus
One small consequence of everyone wearing a standardized uniform, though, is that it's a bit more difficult to convey any given character's signature color, with the hair probably being the best way to do it. As much as I'd like to declare Anonymity one of my Green Girls, can I really give her that label in all good conscience if every other person around her is wearing that color as well and none of them technically by choice?
I also have difficulty labeling her as a Red Girl either since the red of her hair is a more realistic shade more reminiscent of orange or brown, and though Personal Package is depicted here with a red X, it's usually a more standard censor bar which I presume to be black, so I can't go off of that just yet either. It's a little bit of a conundrum
Anonymity continues to prove why she's best girl by not only absolutely bodying multiple opponents simultaneously and layering multiple plans and plots in doing so, but just looking so stylish while doing it too. Her signature 👌 hand sign has very quickly become an endearing part of her character, and committing to using it while snatching all of her opponent's tails was a great way to telegraph who she was before removing her mask
I'll admit, I was really worried when Anonymity first took off Personal Package to reveal her true face. When Hagakure's face was revealed in My Hero Academia, I was a little disappointed that she looked pretty...normal. Like "of course she looks like that." She was cute, but nothing out of the ordinary for Horikoshi's art style. Face reveals are pretty much a guaranteed letdown, so there was a part of me that was hoping that Anonymity's face would never be revealed
However, there are two factors that differentiate Anonymity from a character like Hagakure. First, because her face was revealed at the end of the first arc, there wasn't nearly as much buildup or time to establish expectations, so for better or worse, there wasn't as much impact from the reveal itself, thus making it easier to accept
Secondly, gap moe. Did ANYONE expect Anonymity to be sparkling when she took off the mask? I figured she'd just look surprisingly plain or that her eyes would be sharp to match the even tone she'd had the chapters leading up to the reveal, but no, everything about her was concealed. Her eyes, her mouth, her tone, even her hair was obscured, so the person behind the mask was essentially someone entirely different than the impression we'd been given
This though led to a new worry: would I like this sparkly girl anywhere near as much as the faceless girl? I fell in love with the deadpan, aloof and snarky Anonymity, how could this magical girl-looking version of her live up?
Simply by proving that she's every bit as annoying and self-important as ever, that's how! While her mannerisms are more expressive now, the things she says and the way she antagonizes others remain the same, so at her core, it's very clear that this is the same person, just one that's unrestrained by the need to hide her appearance
The best thing about her now is the dichotomy, the ability to switch between the blank face of stone and the glittering face of crystal, all the while singing the same horrible words and dancing the same horrible dance
As for the puzzles, I sadly didn't get a chance to try to solve them because I was at work and needed to read quickly. I know I wouldn't have been able to solve the music puzzle, and I might have been able to solve the sundial puzzle, but there's absolutely no way I wouldn't have been able to solve the math puzzle if I'd had the time to tackle it. I may not be the best at math, but I know Jump and I guarantee I'd have recognized those numbers if I'd actually looked at them. I know it's petty to hem and haw about how I could have performed, but god dammit I'm mad that I missed the opportunity to apply my specialty!
To conclude, my predictions from last week were pretty immediately off-base, with Anonymity using her connections with Class F not to fight them directly, but to ambush Class B. She's clearly planning to use them to get to Class F, so I may turn out to be partially correct, but that shifts the dynamic away from my expectations. Instead of fighting Class B, Nohime is getting ganged up on by Class D, which will undoubtedly give us good insight on Nohime, but again, I thought we'd see her on the offensive, not the defensive
Of course, I did preface that statement with acknowledgment that I'd likely be wrong, so if there's one thing I can always count on myself to be right about, it's that I'm pretty much always wrong!
