Tighnari
That night was a clear night. No clouds in sight, which made for an unusual cold night as well.
You huddled your jacket closer to yourself, inhaling the fresh air of the night while you strolled around Pardis Dhyai, waiting for Tighnari to arrive. You two had to conduct an experiment that could only be executed at night, hence why the late hour.
As you were deep in your thoughts, you heard the noise of hurried steps coming your way.
Tighnari stopped right in front of you, catching his breath.
«Sorry to keep you waiting, someone had eaten poisonous mushrooms again, so I had to treat them. Were you waiting long?»
You shook your head. «Only 10 minutes, really. It's okay, Nari.»
You smiled at him, and he did as well, making you warm up from the inside. Then he took the keys to the garden out, and opened the place up.
It was a sight for sure: the moonlight delicately seeped through the glass panels of the garden, rendering the place almost ethereal.
Along with the ethereal glow of the moon there was also the warm and cozy glow of fireflies, which made you gasp.
«This place sure is beautiful, for a research site.» you commented, making him chuckle. It was the first time you visited it.
«Not at all times, though. Well then, let's get started, shall we?» you nodded, hoping the experiment wouldn't take long, you weren't a fan of the cold.
«[y/n]?» Tighnari called for you attention. «Hm?»
«You seem..cold.» he stated, catching you in his arms and holding you close. You could feel his tail on your back, warming you up.
You blushed from head to toe. What was even happening??
«You know..There isn't someone I'd rather be doing this tedious task with.» he stated, and you looked at him: his ears were trembling, and his cheeks were red.
«I..thank you, Nari. Are you okay though?»
He nodded. «Just trying to gather some courage, is all.» «For what?»
«For telling you I like you. In more than a friend type of way.» he blurted out, while your eyes widened in shock.
«You what?» his eyes went downward, his ears following suit.
«I suppose you don't feel the same way though. It's okay.»
He was holding tears back, but in reality you were just too stunned from his revelation to mutter anything logical.
«No, that's not what I meant. I was just stunned by your words. I..I've actually liked you for a while, Nari.» his ears went straight up, his gaze instantly fixated on you, sparkles in his eyes.
«You..you have?» you nodded, and he grabbed you from the waist, spinning you in the air, before putting you back on your feet and hugging you close.
«Can I give you a kiss?» he asked, and you nodded.
He smiled big. «You really don't understand how happy I feel right now. I've been losing sleep just thinking about this moment..» you shut him up with a kiss, and soon enough, you weren't cold anymore.

Zhongli
The early hours of the day were starting to give light to the sunrise, as you rested your back against a rock, catching your breath.
Your bow rested near your feet, the quiver full of arrows still on your side. You slowly slid downwards, sitting on the ground.
Footsteps.
Your bow was already strung, the icy arrows ready to be fired at whoever dared to approach you, when..
«Zhongli?» you lowered your bow, smiling at the familiar face.
«What a magnificent display of skills. You were resting not even a second ago, yet the moment you heard the faint sound of my footsteps your bow was swiftly at the ready. Truly magnificent.»
You thanked him. «So, what are you doing over here? It's not every day that the esteemed Consultant comes around Bishui Plain, is it?»
He chuckled lowly.
«Correct. Alas, Director Hu sent me here on a commission, and that is my duty as a consultant, is it not?» «I guess so?»
«Moving onward, I am quite happy that the Director sent me this way. It's been a while since I've seen you around, [y/n].» he stated, while you adjusted your equipment back on your person.
Just then, something passed by you, and by the sound you reckoned it was an arrow.
Zhongli reacted immediately.
«I'll be right back.»
Upon returning, you noticed a spear in his left hand, the tip of it faintly smeared with blood.
He hugged you tight, squishing your face on his chest.
«Zhongli?» you called for his attention.
«Yes?» his tone was calm and reassuring, yet serious at the same time.
«Why did you do all of this? I can take care of myself.» you weren't functioning properly due to how close you two were.
«I know, it's just..my mind ceased to function when I saw that arrow, I acted on instinct, I'm sorry. - he continued - There's something I've been meaning to tell you, [y/n], yet I can't bring myself to.»
«Is it something bad? You're scaring me, Zhongli.» he shook his head, his gaze softening.
«Quite the opposite, I'd say.»
«You do understand you're making this even more complicated, yes?» he sighed, nodding.
«Oh, for the love of Archons, say it. I'm a grown adult, I can handle whatever it is.»
He sighed. «I..I've fallen in love with you, [y/n]. I've known for a while, but I've always tried to restrain myself due to..well. But just now, I got reminded of how feeble mortal life is, so I had to tell you. I will accept whatever answer you give me.»
Zhongli. Zhongli had fallen in love with you?!
The ever so distant consultant that made you feel butterflies in your stomach every time you two spent time together, whether it be sipping tea or strolling around Liyue Harbor? THAT Zhongli?
«Wow..I'm speechless. Truly.»
«You don't have to answer now if you don't want to.» he distanced himself from you, looking down.
«Zhongli.» «Yes?» you took his hand, pressing it on your chest, his eyes widening upon the contact with the area.
«What are you doing?» «Shh -you gently shushed him- concentrate and feel my heartbeat, please.» he did, and to his surprise he found your heart pounding on his hand.
«It's pounding.» «That's because I'm around you.» you stated, earning a gasp from him.
«That means..?» you nodded.
«For such a knowledgeable consultant, you sure are oblivious at times.» you chuckled, while his face returned serious.
«I'm glad you reciprocate my feelings, [y/n], but there's something else I need to tell you.» «Go ahead.»
He took his Vision off, handing it to you.
«It's fake.» you noticed. It was way too light to be a real Vision.
«What does this mean?» you inquired, setting the Vision aside.
He summoned a shield, displaying elemental powers without the Vision. Your mouth was agape. He could use elemental power without a Vision? But only the Traveler..
«I did it this way because otherwise you would have struggled to believe me. I..I am Rex Lapis, [y/n].»
«But Rex Lapis is dead!» he sighed, setting his Vision back in place.
«I'm not. I wanted to hide among mortals, that's why I faked my death.» you fell to your knees, crying.
«That means..That time..It was you?»
He nodded. You bursted crying, on his chest, his hand running up and down your back to soothe you.
Through the tears, you found his mouth, and you two shared a tender kiss, as the day finally started.

Hello hello :> I am once again dropping by to say I love u and ur works 💞 I read ur most recent about SAGAU Zhongli and reader and I LOVE IT SO MUCH!! May I request a story about how Zhongli made Liyue recognize the creator? Did he reveal himself as Rex Lapiz again and the ppl were just shocked cuz who knew Rex Lapiz was the creators lover?! I like to think that the creator would call him Morax since it's his name and its kinda more intimate than Rex or Zhongli but they also call each other dear/dearest (with creator persuading him a lot to drop the "your grace" thing and call them by name or petname) I am same with previous anon and you, the Zhongli brainrot is ✨✨
Tumblr media
I'm glad you liked it!!! And you are so big brained, those are epic ideas my friend!! Soft Zhongli makes my heart soar - I hope you like this!! For context, this is related to THIS fic
Length: 1. 3 k
Reborn from the ashes
Tumblr media
The grounds of Liyue rumbled in discontent as Rex Lapis, the former archon of geo considered his options. He needed to help you - needed to make the cruel world pay for hurting you - but that could wait. Before that, he needed to ensure that the world would revere you. And he would start with Liyue - the very city he had built from the ground up just to honor you.
You.
The way you trembled at the smallest of noises, unable to suppress your flinches at sudden movements broke his ancient heart of stone. He was furious - not at you of course - never at you. He was furious at those who had rendered you into such a state.
With a heavy heart, he knew what he must do. He had stepped down as an archon - but he would take up the mantle for you once more. He would bear the weight of his responsibilities to ensure your happiness. To ease your burdens.
He had sheltered you in his temporary abode as the citizen Zhongli, providing you with the fineries he could procure - but you deserved more.
"Morax," the way you whispered his name late into the night, your cold hands trembling as the lightning crashing in the stormy skies reminded you too much of the foolish electro archon - it molded his name, the name that carried war and bloodshed within it - into something gentle, something lovable.
"Your grace, I will ensure that the world falls to their knees before you," he promised, kneeling before you in fanatic worship as you ran your hands through his hair so gently, so lovingly.
"Morax, my dear - please call me by my name - you have more than earned that right," you would continuously tell him, but he could never bring himself to sully your divine name with his brute of a tongue - you may have called him worthy, you may have given him the honor of your gentle caresses, but he was more than unworthy.
He had so foolishly shrugged off the divine responsibility of his duty as an archon - the duty you had granted him so graciously. He had been ungrateful and cruel in his many long years. How could you expect him to disrespect you even more? He had no right to.
You approached him quietly, as he stood by the window, planning his next move. Your silky robes dragged behind you, a gentle shuffle against the wooden floor as your bare feet neared his figure.
"Morax?" you addressed him fondly, your gentle hand intertwining with his. He turned to you, his honey-colored eyes melting at the sweetness of your voice.
"Yes, your grace?" he asked, eagerly awaiting any words that might fall from your perfect lips, any order for your loyal dragon. The beautiful sound of your breathy laugh warmed him to his core, a beautiful symphony that could not be matched by even the most masterful of ballads.
"(Name) - I've told you to call me that so many times, my dear," you playfully chided him, your eyes meeting his, the happy glint not going unnoticed by Morax. "You may have to tell me again, my dearest grace," he replied, placing a chaste kiss upon your knuckles as he brought your hand to his lips.
You shook your head, a smile still lingering upon your face.
"What were you thinking about?"
He brushed the back of your hand gently with his thumb. "Nothing much - only about how to make my grand return as Rex Lapis."
The clouds above Yujing terrace were heavy - concerning enough to call forth the crowds on the anniversary of Rex Lapis' untimely demise - something only a few select figures of higher authority knew to be a farce. Said figures had gathered around nonetheless - the Tianquan stood gracefully, watching the clouds curiously with her assistant by her side - she had been spoken to by Morax in her dreams, telling her to prepare for a big event - and she had. The entirety of the Qixing was stood behind her, awed by the sight.
Suddenly, the clouds parted, allowing a single spotlight of sun's warm embrace to shine upon the terrace - courtesy of you, eager to give your beloved some of the fanfare he deserved.
Speaking of whom - Rex Lapis burst through the clouds in all his draconic glory, bringing forth a wave of awed gasps - even from the Tianquan, who had not quite expected a return of this caliber from the archon she revered.
He descended - as he always did on this very date until his unfortunate demise, landing gloriously with the ground beneath him thundering. What awed the crowds even more, was the figure perched upon his back, crowned in beautiful gold and amber, looking every bit as divine as you were. Morax bowed, allowing you to slide off of him gently onto the ground.
You had went along with his plans of returning, of allowing him to introduce you to the crowds of Liyue as their divine Creator, but as you felt the gazes fall upon you, you could not help but feel the surge of anxiety wash upon you - reminded of the way cruel eyes and harsh words brandished you an imposter - all too eager to maim and banish you from this world.
Sensing your unease, Rex Lapis, or Morax as you so gently called him - took it as his cue to transform into his more human form - earning another round of shocked whispers as he morphed, his horns and tail proudly on display - the parts of him you had so lovingly caressed and reassured him the beauty of when he himself could not see it.
With a deep, echoing voice, he decided to announce your presence. "I, Rex Lapis, call the people of Liyue to grant the divine Creator the warmest of welcomes," he bellowed, gently taking your hand in his to reassure you that he was there. Your dragon, your knight - he would be by your side to protect you fiercely.
You watched in awe as the nation was brought to their knees, your divine presence and godly aura undeniable as you radiated with joy beside the archon of Liyue himself.
He was not one to deny custom, so he too, fell to his knees before you, holding your hands in his so very gently, his adoring gaze forever focused on your beautiful visage.
His devotion - his adoring and all-consuming love for you was not a secret to the people of Liyue, as long as Rex Lapis had lived, he had lived to serve glory to your presence - what they didn't expect, was the equally matching adoration in the eyes of the creator themselves.
Your laugh, ringing through the terrace, calling forth an awed silence of bewitched followers, the way you stroked the cheek of the Rex himself ever so gently, before tugging him to his feet.
"Morax, my dearest, you're so dramatic," you teased quietly, but each ear strained to hear you nonetheless, eager for anything that you might say or do.
He smiled gently.
"I'm glad it amuses you, my dearest (Name)."
Your heart soared as your name left his lips and quickly, you threw your arms around his neck, seizing his lips in a gentle kiss before an audience of thousands - declaring to an audience of thousands that Liyue - its people and most importantly, its archon, were beloved by the Creator - accepted in all their glory and beauty.
The last of the clouds parted, allowing a warm light to sweep over the nation of contracts - your gentle kiss signing your name at the bottom of the page - sealing your place as the patron of Liyue and lover of the Rex Lapis for all to see.

heyya, it's me again, hope you're having a wonderful day so far 💕
so i've just finished reading every chapter of the 'in my dreams' and i wanna comment how you did such good job with writing it! esp when its the flashblack / dream sequences also mainly i'm a history nerd and seeing stuff based on historical places makes me happy :D
and i also liked how you touched the emotional aspect of it. Seeing how the characters react to the anguish and pain the reader is experiencing is very comforting and it totally was not because i was projecting ahaha nope
but seriously, you did a great job. i hope you're feeling better now since you mentioned in a previous post that you were feeling a bit burnt out. if you ever reached that point, please do not hesitate to rest and take a break from writing! pushing yourself to do something you don't want to do will really take the fun out of it,,, plus i'm sure everyone here will be patiently waiting for you :D
anws i have another idea that popped itself in my head since i've watched too many horror films this week ;; i can't stomach gore horror like the saw movies or final destination, but i can however handle paranormal horror! it still freaks me out though
also this is partially a zhongli brainrot so i hope that you enjoy! if not pls feel free to delete
okay so, reader is an outcast from their village. they had no family, relatives, or even friends! it wasn't because they had done something inhumane, or horrific. heck, they aren't even a bad person! but, there is something deeply unsettling about them.
you see, whenever people look at them, they get the sense of uneasiness, something that they can't figure out and the longer they look, the more they become fearful and paranoid of their surroundings. they want to look away, but an unseen force practically forces them in a trance, which becomes more unbearable with each passing second.
reader is mainly aware of the dilemma they bring to everyone, so it causes them to become a hermit, practically living in isolation at the edge of the forest. at least in that way, no one has to be affected by their curse, right? right?
living in isolation was harder than they thought and they were going insane. at least back in the village, they had pets that kept them company but now? the complete silence was unbearable.
so, whether they cause a commotion or not, reader decides to travel to different cities in Teyvat, enjoying the different cultures and sceneries as one could. they do end up causing trouble from the local governments who thought they were a threat to the point that they were thrown to jail a few times, but other than that it ends up... fine? It was a miracle no archon tried to kill them!
On their journey to Liyue, reader was a bit lost when they end up bumping into someone. They profusely apologized, saying that they were being careless and it was rude of them. However, the gentleman simply acknowledges his mistake, and goes on to introduce himself when..
reader feels a chill crawl up their spine once they had eye contact. for a moment, it felt like the earth was pulling them down, slowly swallowing them whole and it was the most terrifying thing they had ever felt.
it was over in a blink of an eye and reader took a few steps back, unnerved by the entire situation.
"Do I know you?
"I'm no one of importance. I'm simply a consultant for the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. And who might you be?"
"No one of importance too, I suppose."
They exchanged directions and quickly parted ways, yet reader cannot shake the feeling that they're being watched. By whom? No one can say for certain. But, let's hope Liyue's adepti and its ex-archon won't do anything rash. For the meantime, reader enjoys their life as a traveler.
The end! It's abit long so apologies ;;

Hello anon!
I’m doing well enough, I hope that the same is true for you!
I glad you enjoyed reading “In My Dreams”. I’m always happy to hear from a fellow history nerd, it’s very gratifying to hear that you enjoyed the dreams and flashbacks especially, I found those were sort of the hardest scenes since I usually got way too sucked into the history part of it.
And projecting or not, that the emotional beats were satisfying is also something I’m glad to hear, especially since I was so focused on lore and trying to mess with that. I was afraid sometimes I left more personal feelings and connections in the lurch. Also if it was a comfort at all then I’m very glad to hear it. Sometimes fiction can be the best place to find a sort of understanding ear, and I’ve definitely read fics that I feel can accurately mirror certain feelings and emotions.
Thank you for caring about my wellbeing. Thankfully I was only burning out a little bit, I think I just set a schedule that was a little too ambitious, or rather ambitious considering I always end up writing late into the night instead of during the day like an intelligent person might. Still, thank you for worrying. I promise if it ever gets very bad I will take a break, and I’m glad to hear that you would be willing to wait for me to come back.
And I also don’t particularly like horror films in the slasher genre! I find they tend to have worse writing, but it could just be that I find jumpscares really irritating. I mostly stick to anime horror and then thrillers like Silence of the Lambs, which I really think is more thriller than horror. I do agree though I think whether film or books psychological horror and paranormal horror is usually more enjoyable to consume.
And oh I think that’s a very interesting premise! And don’t worry it’s not long at all. It could go so many different directions. Is the reader cursed with it or is it inherited? If it’s a curse then could it be a spirit or being that Zhongli has dealt with before? If not did Zhongli make some sort of contact with the reader’s ancestors? It would also be interesting to see how Zhongli might react later on. He tends to be passive enough unless there is a genuine threat to Liyue, and it would be interesting to explore what he bases the idea of something being threatening on, whether he waits for something to happen or makes an assumption, and how that might change as he interacts with the reader.
One thing the premise also touches on is the strength of horror, that being ambiguity. Horror that works best leaves a lot to the imagination. Thus the idea of the reader being watched but us never getting an answer to what happens to them is - at least to me - very compelling. I really think that letting the mind run wild is sometimes much better than spelling everything out for them. Explain something too much and it’s no longer scary. Something that’s governed by specific rules is never as terrifying as something that just exists or happens or appears without explaination.
Thank you for your lovely ask and for letting me ramble a bit about horror. Your premise was as interesting as always and I hope you have a lovely week and that you write again!
