Scout

Heavy is THE Scout older brother/parental figure

Heavy makes sure Scout stays warm during the colder seasons by making him wear sweaters

I think Heavy is also there for Scout as emotional support.

They exercise together too

Pyro

I think after Heavy gets over the initial fear of meeting Pyro early in their jobs Pyro becomes Heavy's younger sibling merc pt.2

If Engineer isn't present Pyro runs to Heavy for things instead.

Heavy I think knitted him a nice hat and scarf.

Heavy also tries to repair plushies Pyro has torn but since his knitting is better than his God awful sewing heavy has medic fix it without telling Pyro.

Soldier

Since Soldier is his brother in law I think Heavy tries to at least understand the man before making a judgment.

Heavy makes little scarves for Lieutenant Bites.

Demo

Demo, Heavy, and Engie have defense class poker nights where they go and play poker in Teufort or get drunk off their asses.

I think Demo and Heavy tried to make a machine gun that could shoot explosives.

They failed.

There is a big crater in the middle of New Mexico again.

Engineer

He and Engie both I think grill together or cook or something bc I can see it

Engie took inspiration for some of his sentries from Heavy's guns

I don't knowww but just know that they're friendssssssss

Medic

These 2 are smart apart but when together they're fuckin stupid

Besides Heavy letting Medic be medic and experiment on him awake he helps Medic come up with more unhinged ideas.

Heavy is the only person Medic trusts to bird sit his flock of doves

Heavy can't make the birds a hat like he can the other pets in the base bc they're too small so he made them a little nest instead.

Sniper

I don't think these two talk a lot but when Sniper is hiding for more than a few days he leaves sandviches he knows Sniper will find them and take.

If the sandviches are still there Heavy would go out to locate Sniper and make sure he's okay.

Spy

Alike Sniper I don't think he and Heavy talk a lot due to Spy's nature of hiding.

When Spy decides he wants to try and be better to Jeremy family wise he goes to Heavy for a little bit of advice.

hello again! jumping straight back into it:

pyro! they/he/it :3

they're also trans fuck you MtNB /lh. they're mexican because i think that would be a great like, i dont wanna say stereotype but the mercs are all based on stereotypes so yeah that. anyway a great addition to the already colorful roster

they have pretty gnarly scars all over the side of their face, resulting in patchy hair. said hair is extremely curly and black, and it used to be thick at one point. they like to cuss at people in spanish because they know nobody can understand them. he and engie get along great, being that texas and mexico are so close so there are a lot of cultural similarities. soldier however, despite his background, isn't all that fond of it, and it likes to take advantage of that and play tricks on him whenever it can.

pyro's pyrovision fades in and out as a result of maladaptive daydreaming, disassociation, and probably some form of schizophrenia. it's not always as pleasant as he'd like it to be. sometimes he has delusions of the pastel world he imagined for himself consuming him whole.

nobody really knows where he came from, or what he is in most cases, and there's no chance you'll get him to talk about anything. he keeps his secrets under tight lock and key.

next we have demoman!!

i love love love drawing him with thick, coarse curly hair. alongside that, i also draw him relatively thin underneath his blast gear. or whatever ya call it.

tavish finnegan degroot! what's there not to know about this guy? his lore's been pretty thoroughly picked apart in the comics, which i love. but yeah i don't really have anything else to add to him. just good ole tavish!

heya, got any general tf2 merc headcanons? :D

OMG MY FIRST ASK

Scout- (most of these I've probably stolen from other hc accounts but with my twist on them) I personally believe he CAN in fact read, but has dyslexia and literally cannot read properly at least on the first try. especially out loud. I also believe he makes awesome cheesecake. don't ask why.

Soldier- I think he has minor hearing problems. He's got to! He's using rocket launchers to blast himself into the air! that would also explain why he yells all the time. I also fully believe that he's the guy who yells at 6:30 in the morning to wake everybody up. Even if it's a ceasefire, and even if there is absolutely no reason to be up that early. nobody can ignore him either, if they do he just gets louder.

Pyro- Pyro def uses any/all pronouns. I've seen a lot of people use they/them for them but that's unoriginal and my version of pyro deserves a little spice :). They also use ASL to talk to people, and he was able to get Engie, Demo, Heavy, Medic, and Soldier (He heard the word "American" and demanded to learn) (Spy already knows ASL, so there was no reason to tell him to learn lmao)

Engie- He sneezes like a dad and makes the best pecan pie on the planet. Shame he never leaves his workshop long enough to make it.

Demo- HE IS NOT AS MUCH OF AN ALCOHOLIC AS PEOPLE SAY HE IS. Too many people dissolve him down to "funny alcoholic guy" and I'm TIRED. But he also crochets with heavy sometimes

Heavy- Heavy knits while Demo crochets. it's a fun little hobby they do together and trade little trinkets they make. I imagine they also like to chat and tell stories of their families or their childhood in general. Also he def makes the best food

Medic- Medic probably has the most broken English on the team bc he didn't even think about learning it until like just before he had to move to New Mexico to be a mercenary. Also, he's kinda like ice king in the way all his birds are called Archimedes just all pronounced different like how all ice kings penguins are named Gunther.

Sniper- He's a lot more friendly than people tend to talk about him. Sure he isn't around much, but he's more like the introverted friend than just some weird skinny guy who showed up and doesnt like anybody. I mean yeah he can be like that but the people he unfortunately has to work with have helped him out a little

Spy- gets NO bitches no but like actually. He pulled one(1) girl, and that was Scouts mom. He just acts like he gets more because hes somehow convinced the entire team that he can. But also I imagine he gets nightmares a lot. comes with the job.

uncommon*: latine (sometimes afro-latine) amab nb lesbian pyro, not that it comes up often. i generally don’t go to the trouble of explaining identities of characters, because it doesn’t come up organically in fic, and honestly, doesn’t come up in real life! maybe i just mind my own business a little too hard, but i don’t tend to ask questions so much as encourage people to share things freely, and so my characters don’t tend to interrogate without good cause. but assume that much of the time when i’m writing pyro, that’s how i imagine them, i just also imagine the other mercs to have like… manners.

controversial: asexual biromantic scout who wants kids and has a bit of a people pleasing complex and so hasn’t figured out that he doesn’t actually care about sex in the slightest and actually kind of feels annoyed by it, he just really likes literally every romance cliché and has a medium-high sex drive from how much exercise he does in his free time. gritting-his-teeth mildly-sex-repulsed but loves love stories scout. my problem is i also often write trans scout and those headcanons refuse to overlap for me (at least in part because consciously i tend to give trans!scout more confidence in all areas of his life, and the trope ‘uwu trans baby boy never dated before umu be nice pwease…’ makes me wanna scratch my eyes out, so…)

not necessarily gonna die on either of those hills, to be honest. pyro exists in fandom space as a character to have a lot of fun making very different headcanon for, and scout’s relationship with love and romance is, uh, kind of a touchy subject for some people who find him relatable and have romance as a touchy subject for themselves. but that’s where i’m at.

for the record i also tend to aspec my sniper, which leads to a lot of me writing scout and sniper as QPPs unintentionally when i’m not thinking about it. not apologizing, because honestly that relationship has a lot of chemistry and is fun to write and i only get made fun of by people who know me personally a little bit

*(ive actually been seeing a lot of latino pyro in recent years, which is cool, and trans pyro has been a dominant thought basically since they were invented. not sure how much of the recent resurgence is my fault for leaning into it super hard a few times now in different ficlets. personally i just headcanon them from northern mexico but i’ve seen a lot of cool variation, which is exciting. branching out, tf2 fandom, no worries, i see you! and i’m proud!)

Tales of Glory: [ Natlan ]

Hello, my cuties! Now this is all brain rot I got from watching Wakanda Forever and seeing Talokan. Let me explain what is Talokan — spoilers to Wakanda Forever head so ignore this whole headcanon if you want to watch the movie first!

Talokan is based on the mythical Aztec paradise Tlālōcān, reigned over by the rain god Tlālōc. In ancient Aztec culture, the city was an afterlife destination for anyone who perished by drowning or by lightning. It's a hidden kingdom ruled by Namor, the Sub-Mariner. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever suggests that a fragment of the meteor that gave Wakanda vibranium, or another similar meteor, landed in the part of the world where Mesoamerican culture flourished.

Some 500 years prior, his mother was a member of a tribe in the Yucatan area of what is now Mexico. This tribe was terrorized by Spanish colonists, and tried to escape from them. Each member of the tribe drank a special herb from a glowing plant that looked just like the ones we know from Wakanda. This plant gave them the power to breathe underwater, but they could no longer survive on the surface. Centuries later, with breathing apparatus, they could emerge from the depths. But their skin would turn blue on contact with air. Only Namor was different from the rest of his tribe. Namor’s mother was pregnant when she ingested the herb, and so he became the first child born underwater. But possibly due to his being just a fetus when the herb entered his body, he came out a bit different. A mutant. He could survive underwater as well as on the surface without assistance, and could fly due to the tiny wings on his feet. He also had super strength and durability. All part of his mutation, a mutation no doubt connected to the herb. Under Namor’s rule, the people of Talokan have harnessed the power of the oceans, and in some cases, sea life itself, to their advantage.

Now you may ask why I’m getting brainrot of Natlan with Talokan? The thing I loved about Talokan there’s respectful and researched Mayan and Aztec influences in the empire and the people down to them speaking Mayan as well. Now my Murata view the sun and stars as a source of pyro energy and life.

Unlike Talokan being a hidden underwater empire, perhaps Natlan is a hidden city underground as well? After the death of the pyro archon, they’re hide underground or forced underground by the abyss. Having their fake sun for artificial closure to the death of the original pyro archon or normalcy back at the surface.

I want to believe like my Murata, that Natlan praises the sun like The civilizations from ancient pre-Columbian Mesoamerica, including the Aztec, Incan, and Mayan empires. These civilizations were sun worshipers and careful observers of astrological movement. The Aztec saw themselves as "the People of the Sun," whose divine duty was to wage cosmic war in order to provide the sun with his tlaxcaltiliztli ("nourishment").

I might touch up this headcanon more but this is the base ideas for how I see Natlan until it’s revealed more in game (possibly 2024 most likely pfft)

Idk if you meant tf2 x reader headcanons or just general head canons, so I did two sections for each merc; the first point is a general headcanon, the second is X Reader.

sorry this took forEEEEEEEEVER, I was just experiencing burnout and working on a prize for a contest on my server (BTW WE HAVE A NEW DRAWING CONTEST GO CHECK IT OUT)

Scout:

Scout is actually really self-concious about his intelligence. He’s not very bright and he knows it, and it makes him feel horrible. He had flunked out of high school and struggled in most of his core classes. He honestly feels really stupid and he hates when people point it out. But luckily for him, a lot of the other mercs understand what it’s like to be looked down upon and empathize with him. Quite a few of them help him relearn the skills he never mastered in school. Engie helps him with math, Spy sometimes helps him with writing, and even Pyro has him read children’s books to them to improve his reading.

Scout absolutely loves little casual dates. Stuff like going out to eat lunch, going to the movies, maybe just cuddling up in his quarters and watching a movie. He tries to plan one every week. His dream date is taking you back to Boston to meet his family and go to a Red Sox game. But obviously, since you’re both in New Mexico at the time, he’s going to have to shelve that dream for a few years.

Soldier:

Soldier is an excellent raccoon dad. At first, the other mercenaries thought they’d all end up dead by the end of the month when he first found them. But surprisingly, they are are very well cared for. They’re all fed regularly and basically have his entire assigned quarters to themselves. He loves every single one of them dearly, even the ones that hiss and scratch him every time. The raccoons, at least some of them, are kind of like weird, quiet dogs, and actually get along pretty well with most of the other mercenaries.

Soldier is a surprisingly very physically affectionate partner, and he’s not at all opposed to PDA. He loves hand holding, cheek kisses, cuddles, the whole nine yards. Whenever he’s particularly excited, he loves to run up to you, scoop you up into his arms, and press a hard, sloppy kiss to your lips. Of course, he’s careful to not hurt you, but he’s a very intense, emotional guy and he needs to express all that love he has for you!

Pyro:

Pyro is and excellent listener, so they’re a person a lot of the other mercenaries depend on to vent. Demo often comes to them to vent about his emotions, Scout, Sniper, or Medic will rant about what’s bothering them, and even Engineer will talk about his stress. And of course, Pyro doesn’t understand a lot of what is told to them, but they’re still happy to help them feel a little better, and they would happily do it a hundred times over to make their friends feel better.

Pyro has a hobby of baking and making candy/treats, and they love sharing everything they make with you. When they first gave you a treat, you honestly thought it’d be burnt or bad in some other way. But to your surprise, it was amazing! They’re actually and excellent cook, but they just love making sweet things the best. They’ll make you just about anything you could ask for without hesitation, but they’re best at making anything sweet.

Demo:

Demo obviously has the potential to pretty emotional when he’s drunk, there’s no doubt about that. But on the off-chance that he’s sober, he’s actually pretty sweet and considerate. Though he still is a rough-housing joker, he’s much more considerate of his friends’ feelings and has deeper and more meaningful conversations with them. He often likes to go to bars with his friends and co-workers on ceasefire weekends, having lots of fun conversation, drinking together, and generally causing chaos around town.

Demo, to put it simply, doesn’t like himself. He’s critical of everything, from his skills to race, because people have always put him down about them. His mother told him he’s lazy and unskilled too many times to count, just everyone makes fun of his eye, and many have made fun of his skin color. But you make him feel so much better about himself. Just the fact that someone so kind and gorgeous is actually with him makes him feel like he’s not as horrible as he thought. There’s been a couple of times where you’ve accidentally almost brought him to tears with a sweet compliment or show of affection, because he never thought in a million years that someone would love him and care for him like you do. He feels so blessed that he has someone like you.

Heavy:

I know the fandom’s decided that Engie is the Team Mom and makes the food, but I also think that Heavy cooks a lot too. He makes all of his own food, so he often makes a lot of extras to feed the team because a lot of them just eat junk food and Medic’s always complaining about their eating habits. Heavy often takes like half the food for himself (he does have a huge appetite and loves food, so he likes to take a lot) and just boxes up the leftover portions and leaves them in the fridge for the team to take. He says he’s only doing it because they can’t work properly if they’re unhealthy, but he also does it because he cares about their health. A little bit.

At first, you wouldn’t think Heavy’s the most cuddly guy. But surprise, he actually loves giving and receiving physical affection. He just doesn’t show it often out of respect for your boundaries, and doesn’t do it around others. His absolute favorite thing is to cuddle you against his chest. Sometimes it’s when going to sleep, or cuddling on the couch, or maybe just a quick hug. He just loves the feeling of your head resting against his chest and your arms trying (and failing) to wrap around his torso. It makes him feel like you’re safe. Nobody could ever get you when you’re wrapped up in his arms.

Engie:

You’d think Sniper’s the only nature nerd on the team, but Engie absolutely loves the outdoors, as well as animals. It’s because his father would often take him out camping every couple of months. It was often the only time he would get 1-on-1 time with his usually very busy father. So he does love the great outdoors, especially that of his home state. He especially loves animals. He was raised on a farm and helped take care of lots of injured wild animals with his mother. He absolutely loves pets and would like to have many when he retires. His dream is to have is own ranch, with horses and cows and a bunch of dogs and the whole shebang.

Engie absolutely loves playing the guitar, so of course he loves playing for you. He learns all sorts of sweet love songs to sing to you. He’s an excellent player and actually has a pretty decent singing voice (think Johnny Cash, he kinda has that singing style). I hope you like country music, because that’s all he’s going to sing to you until you give him some requests or he finds out your favorite artists or genres. You can tell how happy he is every time he gets to surprise you with a new song he learned, and he’d be a giddy, laughing mess if you sang along with him.

Medic:

You’d think this guy takes horrible care of his birds because of the environment he keeps them in, but his birds are actually exceptionally well cared for. He buys them only the best and most expensive bird food, gives them super high-quality water with vitamins n stuff in it, takes them to the vet regularly, the whole shebang. Yeah they get a little dirty from sitting around in his lab, but he always gives them a little bath at the end of the day to get all the blood and guts off.

Medic is honestly such a playful partner. Of course, around his co-workers he’s a little more professional; he still gives you soft touches, a kiss on the cheek, or a big smile, but that’s about it. In private, however, he’s such a sweetheart. He’s always sweeping you up into big hugs, kissing all over your face, and calling you all sorts of adorable nicknames in a variety of languages. It comes as a surprise, because you’d think he’d be a little more formal, but that’s really only for special occasions. It honestly brings him so much joy to have someone like you by his side, and every day he’s going to make sure you know just how grateful he is to have you in his life.

Sniper:

Sniper is an incredibly independent and self-sufficient man, but he’s also secretly a real mama’s boy. He loves his parents dearly and has a particularly close relationship with his mother. As well as sending them money every month, he sends them all sorts of gifts, letters, postcards, and souvenirs. He also makes sure to call them regularly. He goes home every couple of months to visit them, and one could see that he loves helping around the house and chatting with his parents. His mother loved gardening, so his number-1 favorite thing to do is help her in the garden.

Despite Sniper’s obvious lack of knowledge on self-care, he takes a lot of time out of his day to make sure you are happy, healthy, clean, and well-fed. He doesn’t hound you like a helicopter parent but he likes to ask how you’re feeling, if you’re hungry, stuff like that. It feels nice to know you’re taken care of or take care of you himself. If you switch it around and try to take care of him, however, he’s honestly baffled as to why you would care so much as to make sure he’s doing well. He does absolutely love the affection and attention he gets out of it though, it makes him feel loved.

Spy:

I’ve mentioned this before, but I have a head canon that Spy has a dog. Her name is Charlotte, and she’s an elderly Chihuahua. One would think he’d buy a French breed, but he found her out in the pouring rain one day and fell in love with her fluffy ears and spunky personality. She’s now 17 years old, extremely frail, missing most of her teeth, and extremely aggressive to anyone other than Spy, but he loves her dearly and pays for all of her medical expenses without batting an eye. And of course, she expresses her thanks with lots of kisses.

Spy loves dancing, and knows all kinds of dances, from flamenco to ballroom dancing to the Charleston to, canonically, disco. So of course, he’s dying to share all of the most romantic dances he knows with you. He’d love to actually teach you how to dance, rewarding you with kisses every time you finally get a move right and laughing softly when you make mistakes. But in reality, he just wants to use it as an excuse to dance with you against his chest and smother you in affection.
