UB40 I'm Not Fooled / The Pillow Single Released 25 February 1985 Album Geffery Morgan This is the third and final single from the album 'Geffery Morgan'. It is clear that it does not provide the commercial magnetism of many of their other hits released around the same time. Both tracks, have a certain sparseness and simplicity about them which creates that dubby raw sound, which UB40 can do, especially in their early tracks. 'I'm not fooled' has the potential to grow in stature through several listens as it is well-crafted and doesn't fall foul of any cliché's and that is mainly due to Ali Campbell's laid-back vocal style, which aligns perfectly with the accompanying instruments. The Pillow, is a softer, sensitive and more innocent sound which doesn't lend itself so readily to the UB40 brand. It is sad song about prostitution and suicide, which isn't so apparent in the mood of the song.
