Satish Kaushik is one gem of an actor and he has proved his excellence time and again. Since the role as Calendar in Mr. India is one of the best roles we remember even after 30 years. Satish was seen playing the role of a condom factory owner in a wig in the ZEE5 film Chhatriwali. His upcoming films include Emergency, directed by Kangana Ranaut. Satish recently had an interview with a leading media house post the release of his film Chhatriwali where he talked at length about his career, how he is trying to be relevant in the industry and showed his love and blessings to the youth.

When asked about his role as Calendar in Mr. India and the way he as well as Anil Kapoor haven’t changed over the year, Satish said, “Thank you for such a compliment. You made my day. When you are passionate about your work, you need to take care of yourself. Even Akshay Kumar is so inspiring, he says if a person doesn’t have one hour for himself in a day, it’s all worthless. In order to keep doing good work, you need to keep yourself updated, reinvented and relevant. That can only happen if you look after yourself. I am on that trip and try to keep myself fit. You focus only on mental wellbeing; we need to keep ourselves physically fit as well. I am still working in films, web series and have many in pipeline. It becomes your responsibility to maintain the image in which you are seen.”

He also acknowledged the fact that his dialogue from Chhatriwali has became so popular. “My dialogue has become popular: ‘young generation ki yahi baat mujhe bahut pasand hai – himmat bahut hai inme’. I always try to make a one liner the USP of the character which can make it memorable. From Calendar, Muthu Swamy, Pappu Pager to Kunjbihari, these are some of my most popular characters. Earlier the roles were loud, now there are more realistic and subdued roles, like the one in Chhatriwali.”

He claimed that this film is different than other sex films because “Its intentions were right and the message was delivered in a very entertaining way and explicitly. The script is strong.”

Welcome one & all, to this, the 8th continuous year of the most prestigious & popular (contemporary) online annual Bollywood Film Awards, of the entire awards season, this whole decade-

The Indies.

NOTE: This year's scrolls, unlike past couple of years, do not include the web series segment, which saw it's boom period during the international pandemic induced lockdown for precisely those 2 years, a consequent dip in big quality film productions & produce, that in turn enabled lotsa screen talent to temporarily shift to the web space with much more confined production settings, causing lot more high quality & novel produce here...a level that's under normal circumstances since, somehow seen a drastic dip in collective work, thus causing Indies to take a call in favor of avoiding that segment entirely hereon, or atleast this year. That's not to say a few good productions may not've seen light of day, yet not enough to warrant a entire dedicated Indies awards show for the same.

As also no turnout worth any reckoning on the music front, putting paid to that space too for today.

A year marked most uniquely by the nationwide boycott of Bollywood films at the box office, done for a variety of factors we can't precisely put a finger on, yet that had an extraordinary (read crippling) effect on overall Bollywood earnings for the year, yet since we're not in business of awarding business, rather awarding art, let's get back to our sole area of focus.

This year seeing a very strong showing from a few dubbed South Indian works, & few made in multiple languages incl of South, that not only escaped the boycott wrath, but also found favor on the art front here.

Around the same 30-odd films making it to the elite Indie watchlist here, as for most years, & a similar large pool of winners for all categories in keeping with the now worldly known 'no ceiling on quality' Indies philosophy, except the actresses section seeing only one winner after long!

So enjoy the year's best works in all different aspects, & merrily live the month & year away !

Hush Hush

Amazon Prime Video announced a new show on their platform titled Hush Hush that is touted to be a crime drama Hush Hush has an ensemble cast of female actresses like Juhi Chawla KarishmaTanna, Sahana Goswami, Kritika Kamra, Soha Ali Khan, and Ayesha Jhulka. It’s going to be a female-centric movie and even the director and writer of the show are females.

The End

More than a year ago, Akshay Kumar in partnership with Amazon Prime announced a web series titled ‘The End’ which is supposedly going to be one of the most expensive web series ever. Set in the future world, its script has been written but the people from Prime Video and Akshay Kumar himself were not satisfied with the script and the script is now being re-written. Once it’s completed and approved, we may know when The End will come on OTT.

Indian Police Force

After making a cop universe in movies with Singham, Simba and Suryavanshi, Rohit Shetty is expanding his cop universe into OTT with Indian Police Force. It’s touted as the most expensive action web-series ever made in India. It starts Siddharth Malhotra in the lead along with Shilpa Shetty and Vikram who all are playing cops in this web series.

Neeyat

Neeyat is an upcoming adventurous crime-thriller featuring Vidya in the lead and the story centers on a murder that happens during a billionaire’s birthday celebrations. This web series has an ensemble cast of Neeraj Kabi, Rahul Bose, Meeta Vashisht, Ram Kapoor, Shahana Goswami, Amrita Puri, and famous You tuber Prajakta Koli.

Tiku Weds Sheru

Tiku Weds Sheru is an upcoming comedy romantic drama produced by Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika Films, and it has Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur in the main leads. It’s written and directed by Sai Kabir who wanted to cast late Irfan Khan for the charcter Nawazuddin is doing now. Tiku Weds Sheru will premiere at Amazon Prime Video.
