Kaeyappreciation post!
Kaeya is wonderful in a sense that he:
Has a penmanship described as "Beautiful Handwriting". He for sure worked on that.
Willingly spends his time making sure his outfit looks perfect
Is well-loved by Mondstadt and the Dawn Winery staff
Is described to like a prince, both in looks and in actions
Is shown to be gentle and caring to children and elderly, most seen with Klee and the staff from Dawn Winery
Is a great listener and, therefore, also knows what gifts to buy based off of something someone said in passing
Is predominantly kind- unafraid to help out and defend someone in need. His first reaction is always kindness, and worry about covering up that kindness later on
But Kaeya also has his moments where he:
Says things out of pocket with enough alcohol in his system. Things that usually lead to shame and regret.
Would rather give others the credit for his hard work if he could help it
Intentionally makes himself look suspicious by withholding information and only throwing tidbits that are not of substance
Has sadist tendencies, which affects how he treats both his (cavalry) company and his enemies
Can and will use underhanded tactics to gain the upper hand
Rarely ever says what he truly wants to say
Has a fake smile. Usually lies or only deals with half truths.
He is such a complex character. I really do want people to appreciate him and his intricacies more. The fact that his entire personality and story is done so well and continues to actually grow and expand as the story progresses is something that genuinely makes me want to keep watch of him. I have never, in all my fandoms, stuck to a character as long as I did with Kaeya, and honestly? I know I'm not alone with this.
Look at how well they made our boy!

"Something's bothering me. Lloyd said that Luna said we needed to bring Aska to make a pact with her. But we hadn't even met Luna before that point."

"How would Lloyd even know that before we'd met Luna...?"

She heard someone at the door but she didn’t look up at from the dean’s desk, going through the pointless amount of paper work that the man had kept around for no reason. Given he was just stealing money from the college. “If you are looking for the old dean,” she said, before flicking her head up, as she placed her new plaque on the desk. Dean Billie Forbes. “He isn’t here anymore. Pretty sure he is getting 10 to life.”

[Starter for @magnificentlymagnet]
~Vic Viper's POV~
I stared as I saw some short-looking bomber was looking around in the clothing section of this mall.
I was lucky enough to get a day-off for today, so why not spend some free time on Planet Bomber while I'm at it?
Part of me wanted to chuckle over how this little guy was trying on different platform-like shoes. But, That'd be rude of me.
...Which can be said the same with me making eye contact.

WHERE: just outside the entrance to the chinchilla computer café WHEN: 22nd november, late morning WHO: anyone! ( @anchoragestarters ) CAP: 2/6 (as of 8th Jan)
Tumblr media
Rika's ordeal had started in the morning. She'd made herself a quick breakfast – slice of toast with butter and jam, small bowl of miso soup, cup of coffee with far too much sugar and a dash of milk – and propped her laptop up on the front room's coffee table, determined to get through some personal research. She booted it up and, after what seemed a longer wait than normal, she pulled up the internet browser. Nothing. Whether the internet was down or just suffering though excruciatingly slow load times, it was obvious she wouldn't get anything done like this. But the Rika of just a few hours ago, she'd been a naive woman, blaming it on the Seal Harbour apartment complex. It wouldn't be the first time the place had caused problems. With a sigh, she'd pulled on her jacket and sped through the wide streets of Anchorage until she found what she needed. Surely, Rika would find the answers she needed. Somehow.
But, now, as she stood shivering outside the front door of the Chinchilla Computer Café, staring hopelessly at the sign on the door, she was forced to consider there might be more to this than she thought. It didn't seem like she was the only one inconvenienced either, judging from the way the person beside her was hovering outside the door. "It can't be closed!" she said a little too loudly, very almost wailing. If she were a more impulsive person and lacking in manners, Rika might have kicked the door in a fit of pique. Instead, she took a deep breath and calmed herself down, running her fingers through her dishevelled hair and brushing herself down, before turning to address the other person. "Do you know if this sign is new? As in, today new?" she asked. The confusion had her thinking aloud. She tried to peer in through the windows but the lights weren't on and there wasn't much to see. "Wait. Better question. Have you been having technology problems too?"

Actually I've changed my mind about the Forester event from my initial positive review. Not that I dislike it, but it needs to be a lot shorter.
There's basically only one point at which luck is a factor in the game and that's at the very beginning: some axes take longer to pick up than others. If you picked up a slow axe, you can still overtake other players if you are very good at selecting and using things quickly, but that will happen during the first two stages, during the gathering and refining process. After that point is over, barring lag, whoever's in the front of the pack is going to stay in the front of the pack until the very end. There's supposed to be another luck factor at the end: some mystery drinks give slower debuffs than others. But all the debuffs last the same amount of time, so they're basically meaningless. If the person at the head of the pack gets the slowest debuff and falls behind, it doesn't matter, because by virtue of them having finished drinking first their debuff wears off first and they can easily overtake everyone else while they're still slowed down.
Basically, the competition is always (barring lag) decided during the first two stages. So they could basically just have ended it after the wood refining bit and everything would be the same.
They might be able to fix this by mixing up the drinks at the end; have the debuffs last for a random amount of time, or for the full duration of the race, or something along those lines. But IMO it takes way too long for a race that's decided in the first 30 seconds.

( @adeehayag )
"Pace yourself," They appeared behind Adee, voice almost a soft murmur; leaning close to reach forward and pluck the glass from her hands before raising it to his own lips, a satisfying sip. "Don't want you getting all fucking drunk again, now do we?" He tugged on a stray strand of her hair; light and teasing, voice relatively at ease - without the joyful malice that it held for practically everyone else. "M'just a fucking stick, I can't keep carrying you home. Think of my old, decrepit bones, please."

"Mori-san. It's a pleasure to meet you properly." With a somewhat unpleasant smile, Verlaine introduces himself, as if the man doesn't know exactly who he is very well. After all, he's sure that no-one would forget the face of an assassin who tried to kill you, and who almost killed many, many more.
But the smile quickly drops off his face. ...He has no energy to act for any longer than he has to. Verlaine holds no grudge against Mori, though he knows that a large part of his defeat was due to him, which does sting his pride as an assassin just a little. But he's not grateful to him either. Mostly, when he looks at the man, he feels nothing at all - the same as when he looks at most things, these days.
There is one thing more inside him that brought him to see Mori today, though. And that's curiosity. It's a surprise that Mori doesn't seem to want him dead, though he has of course considered the possibility that the man has lied about that claim - but it's not too surprising, either. After all, who wouldn't want to use Verlaine's power, if they had the chance?
"I've been told that I owe you a great deal." Though it's obvious from the way he speaks that Verlaine doesn't particularly agree with that assessment. "To want to meet with a man like me... I'll admit, I do find myself curious about you."

“   i can give you a demo on how to reply to text messages,   if you’d like.   or on how to return missed calls.   ”     maria’s words are scalding,   but her tone is a far cry from legitimate cruelty.   one look tells her @umbrs can’t take anything too venomous;   vic looks as though a light breeze might just topple him,   so maria won’t make him face her hurricane.   though righteous in her annoyance,   this particular crusade can wait.   greene lets her barbs melt on her tongue,   lets her features ebb from choleric to concerned.   the hand that reaches to stroke his cheek is a kind one,   and a guiding one.   vic’s endured his fair share of harshly guiding hands.   from her,   he can be certain of softness eternally.

❛ ━━━━zehra is a woman on a mission. she has no interest in the decor, the chandelier, the people clad in fabrics worth ten times her rent while she dons an old halloween costume.  she crosses the dance floor without a second glance at the couples that have to irritably step aside to avoid her colliding into them.
there are workers dressed in their finest bowties and masks, carrying silver trays with glass drinks that don’t smudge with your fingertips and hors d’oeurves that she can neither identify nor pronounce.  but she has her eyes on the fucking prize: the longest table she’s ever seen with a quantity of food that could feed the entire city and a quality where she could die happy.  the food is laid out for all guests to feast upon, both with their eyes and hungry mouths.  fancy schmancy parties for the rich always have the best vegetarian foods.
zehra pops a stuffed mushroom in her mouth; the flavors melt against her taste-buds and she moans under her breath.  “oh my god, that’s good,” she says, and then takes a napkin from the table, wraps up 8 of the mushrooms, and shoves it in her purse. this was a great idea, she thinks.
she takes a bite of a stuffed jalapeño bigger than her palm next and rolls her head back at the flurry of flavors and textures, both unaware of her obnoxiousness and uncaring.  “have you tried the stuffed jalapeño yet?” she says to the person beside her, shaking the jalapeño in her hand for emphasis.  “they’re stuffing it with crack, i swear to god.  i’m surprised they don’t have silverware here . . . perhaps because it’s all finger food, or maybe someone came before me and snagged it all.”  she sees someone set another tray.  “fuck, is that fried goat cheese?  that shit’s gonna go fast.”  she grabs a handful with a napkin and, with a thought of compromise, she turns back to the person and says, “here.  hurry up, before they see.  shove it in your pockets or your bag, whatever you’ve got.  it’s wrapped in a napkin; it’s fine! we’ve got the rest of the table to check out—quickly!”
