Week 1 of Apoctober, your narrators will be Adum and Amrius, Amrius' text will look like this, and Adum's text will look like this.

Day 1, Mask:

"I swear it's like those beasts get worse and worse each day.

Honestly I wouldn't be to surprised by that. Perveser likes to make things living hell for people.

I know but, like the ways the beasts are formed have not changed, it's just the same way and yet more and more people seem to be worshipping him! Like you've told me how bad he is in person, how the hell do so many people worship that... THING!

Because he makes it seem like he's some shining exit from the inescapable darkness, meanwhile he's the one causing said darkness in the first place. He knows people will turn to faith to help them in the dark times, so he uses that to his advantage.

*sigh, I guess you're right, but still, that cultist hideout was just... I could vomit just thinking of it. And the mask in the center of the-

Hey, let's just focus on trying to unwind from that."

Day 2, Skull:

"Ok Amrius I'm going to need you to hold still so I can apply the bandage.

I know it's ju- OW OW OW OW

I know it hurts, but that just shows how much you need the wound bandaged. You need to be careful when something like that has a full on greatsword, you're lucky it didn't turn you into mince meat!

Jeez Adum, I didn't realize you of all people would get worried about me, you know I wouldn't let any beast put me down.

You say that, meanwhile it seems every day you get closer and closer to ending up needing a replacement limb. Like I could see the bone for crying out loud, I know you can handle yourself but you get way to comfortable being practically on death's doorstep, it scares me alright. Like what if-

Jeez Adum, babe, slow down. 1. I am not gonna die on you, at least not from anything other than old age if I can help it, and 2. please tell me when something like that is eating at you."

Day 3, Abyss:

"Why did it have to be a crab monster, it could have been anything else and I'd be fine with it, a squid, a werewolf, anything other than a crab is what I mean. And on top of that why did it have magic electrical energy leg blasts.

I didn't know you were scared of crabs.

Less scared of, more filled with hatred upon seeing them. The fact that it almost flash-fried you didn't help, like I saw you get hurt and literally saw red, and the next thing I knew I had a limb impaling me, meanwhile the limb is severed from the crab.

Wait you did that because I was in danger? That's sweet of you, or at least I would say that if you didn't end up getting impaled.

Heh, thanks babe."

Day 4, Plague:

"Amrius calm down, I know you weren't yourself because of the toxins those beasts induce into people. Stop freaking out, you barely even grazed me with your attacks.

But what if I didn't! I could have killed you! I don't know what I'd do without you, I-

Amrius, babe, love of my life, I am alright, now if you don't stop freaking out I swear I will smother you with affection.

But I-

Affection time."

Day 5, Raven:

"Adum, I'M SUPPOSED TO BE THE CARELESS ONE NOT YOU. THAT GIGANTIC RAVEN COULD'VE KILLED YOU.

I THOUGHT IT WAS FRIENDLY

IT WAS GIGANTIC AND ON TOP OF A PILE OF CORPSES

RAVENS ARE SCAVENGERS

IT HAD GIANT CLAWS.

THEY WERE HIDDEN IN THE PILE.

MY POINT EXACTLY. YOU NEED TO BE MORE CAREFUL YOU HIMBO TWINK."

Day 6, Relic:

"Where did you say you found this again Adum?

In the Gravetender magic storage room, seemed like it could be important so I decided maybe I should give it to you, after all you are a Gravetender Huntsmen so I thought maybe you'd know what it was.

Well I don't know what it is but it feels like it is trying to lead me to somewhere when I hold it."

Day 7, Witch:

"Okay kiddo, um, do you know of any other relatives who could take care of you?

No sir. Everyone went to where they heard the beasts, and then...

Oh god, we're gonna have to adopt aren't we.

It would seem so, would you be alright with that Ms...?

Haera, but my friends call, well, called me Lint.

Well Ms. Lint I guess follow us, we don't have a spare bed yet but I think I can get one on the way."

Day 8, Scarecrow:

"Lint, why is there a scarecrow currently having tea with you?

I found instructions in the attic and it made me a friend!

Instructions?

Yeah, (shows Gravetender incantation instructions) see?

Amrius. I think our daughter might be adept at Gravetender magic."

Day 9, Smoke:

"So the amulet leads us to strange spirit beasts? This is peculiar indeed.

Maybe it was made to hunt down the things, they for the most part match up with what we Gravetenders specialize in hunting. But it's magic seemed almost like Gravetender magic... perhaps it was one that became a beast?

Amrius, you alright? This seems to have shaken you up a bit.

Yeah I'm fine, just, weirded out, something seems off about this, like something's trying to tell me something."

     adumbrate. v. "to outline, to sketch," 1580s, from Latin adumbratus "sketched, shadowed in outline," past participle of adumbrare "to represent (a thing) in outline"

vituperative -  bitter and abusive.

I found this amusing.  I noticed that there were twelve apprentices that turned to evil and there are twelve trolls, though this may be coincidence.  Mostly I just wonder why Rose puts on such a show of hating her mother’s wizards so much?  Makes me think to when she was psychoanalyzing John and suggested that his father thought that he liked harlequins and that’s why the house was crammed with them.
