This build is for all us plant lovers who can’t keep irl plants alive, so instead we live out our green thumb fantasies in Animal Crossing New Horizons. In this build I created the best homestead using the new 2.0 crops. This rural farm includes: vegetable bed islands for easy watering, a duck pond because they’re superior to chickens, a beach berry patch to utilize as much space as possible, and a run down yet cozy farmhouse for our new farmer villager, Dobie.

My real life garden could never (all my plants struggle hard to survive)... but at least my virtual farm is flourishing. That counts for something, right?

The thing I hated most about my obsessive need for control with OCPD is probs just...how much it affected my safe person. Like they aren't like me at all. And so when we played things like ACNH or Stardew Valley together back before I knew about my disorders and they were heavily unregulated and I was just starting to come out of this toxicity of untreated trauma responses and disorders, I was extremely controlling. And it heavily affected their enjoyment of the games that were our special interest. I would design things, ask them why they hadn't completed things already, ask how they could even enjoy the game without completing stuff. It also doesn't help that my obsessive need for completing things came from my brothers criticizing the way I played as a child. Heavily so.

But just, it came off as so guilt trippy, annoyed, and I would often take control and organize things. So much so that even playing now, they'll reference some of it since it still affects them and it breaks my heart. I feel so damn bad. That was a few years back when I was still unlearning some of my more toxic behaviours so some of the ones like my OCPD still went unnoticed.

We've improved a lot and now most of the time, I'll just joke about it and try to regulate it. I still help put with organizing sometimes since MA is VERY disorganized and I'll give tips and tricks and advice, but im also leaving a lot of choices up to them and let them take the lead. Even then, the most ill say is "that's not how I would do it, but that's fine, cause it's just a game." I've really improved a LOT over the past few years and I'm helping MA to enjoy games since I kind of ruined a few for them by being so controlling and stressful with my need to accomplish things which also would come from an autistic excitement to share special interest.

Things have improved a lot and I'm learning to use my OCPD organization and work ethic and need for control in helpful ways when we play and been really working on asking before just doing things as well as mentioning that they can ultimately do whatever they want, that's just how I would do things. I've seen them have more fun and enjoy games a lot more again. Especially when they accidentally deleted their main farm in Stardew. They were miserable and we've been rebuilding the farm together, making memories against and reliving some of our old memories on that farm.

I just notice a lot more of my OCPD stuff comes out during video games. I haven't paid attention to some of these disorders as much since they're not as intense as my other disorders like NPD and HPD and ASPD and shit, but they are very heavily present and I'm trying to spot them more and work on them. I'm just so tired of seeing how obsessive and controlling I get just to feel a fucking sense of safety. It's stressful when you actually start seeing the patterns and it's even scarier when you realize how you've done it for years with no idea while also being self aware to a fault due to trauma.

im redesigning my acnh island with the goal of making an area dedicated to / themed around each ghost and so far ive come up with:

-a farm for mary (rip queen)

-a campsite for pat

-stargazing area for robin

-butterfly garden for kitty

im lost as to what to make for the captain, fanny, julian, thomas + humphrey! please let me know if you have any ideas!

Definitely a urban type area

60s/70s? Definitely would be on brand for me

Maybe early 2000s? Like, grungy pop punk type shit, y'know

Maybe a shitty middle of nowhere town vibes

Lotta people seem to go for super ✨ aesthetic ✨ and "_____core" type stuff, but I think I want my area to be really normal-ish looking

Not particularly sure if I want to use custom designs, if I do I'll have to use others cause I'm not so good at pixel art

Want good night lighting, so I definitely want street lamps and stuff

Wanna make sure I fit in a farm, orchard, and a flower garden somewhere in there

Waterfalls are cool

Mostly leaning towards a 2000s idea

I've seen people do crazy big cities but thats intimidating and Ion wanna do that

I also want to add in the farms you ahve to pay for htem to function. (odds are you're paying to determine the crop used next, and the prices might be to encourage you to grow cheeper/abundant foods/grains, instead of just The personality changing mints. They're good seasonings but not good for longterm survival, and presumably everyone in that village gets some of the crops presuming the farm doesn't directly sell them themselves)

Fantastic thoughts; I like that you put reasoning behind the (frankly ridiculous!!) prices to farm things!

I mean, 10,000 pokedollars for a handful mints? Double that and I could buy the washing machine from the future from Ginter!! They’re asking this from a 15 year old kid!!

It would explain why it costs so much, and you get so little in return though, if we go with the idea that crops are evenly distributed to everyone in the village. That actually makes it seem worth it, and the harvest becomes sizable. You just decide to pay for its growth and care entirely though, despite only getting a cut the same size as the rest of the village.

But hey, it’s gotta be funded somehow, right?? Let’s make the 15 year old Pokémon prodigy pay!

You are right; working this way it’s just not sustainable long term.

(I did always sort of wish the village farm would be able to grow actual crops and stuff like potatoes and carrots that you could cook with, I just love cooking mechanics like in BOTW and ACNH!)

We have so many farms & artisan producers on our island, it’s about time we built the perfect spot for them to sell their goods. So I built Shadowmoss a quaint downtown district.

There's a spot for the Able Sisters Tailor Shop, boutique shopping, as well as Antonio’s farm-to-table restaurant with waterfront dining. On the beach in front of our small town main street we have a little farmers market for our villagers to sell their local products.

well i finally completed every single nook miles achievement in acnh

posted a video for proof on twitter

anyway my last achievement was attending 100 K.K. concerts. for the final concert, i dressed up in the same outfit that katt was wearing (she's my original sisterly, she's been on the island since i started it back in march 2020, and i love her dearly) and i asked K.K. to play K.K. Disco, bc that's katt's favorite song ☺️

got a little video of it in recognition

and it was nice bc i also had a campsite visitor on the day, and it was bea! i didn't take her bc i have her on my other island/switch, but it was v sweet!

also my switch's memory is full up 😬 lol gonna need another memory card if i keep going at this rate--but i probably won't now that i've completed all of the achievements.

basically i was playing through a couple days each week to get to the K.K. concert for the week

along the way i let ione and sasha move out and get replaced w kiki and shep (kiki is a little meh, though i LOVE how i redesigned her house, but shep is v sweet, so idk if i'll let kiki leave if she asks to in the future? maybe not? but if i get a perfect villager in the campsite i'll take em) and then i played every single day to give them gifts so i could get their photos--and THEN i played every single day to give them their new wardrobe. lol

officially, in-game, i'm on june 17th

so i'll play a few days each week and then will set to figuring out what i wanna do w the island design-wise. i tore down what i'd built for sasha after he moved out. what i have for maddie is super crowded. katt's farm takes up a LOT of space and i wanna redo the orchard. the entrance is meh. i tried reworking in front of the plaza but i haven't decorated it. i did move my shakespeare in the park theater but it's hard to access now. i did finally make the beach fish market (feels incomplete, though) and the sushi restaurant. i gotta move (or delete?) my second account's house bc i don't like where it is. gotta move kiki's and shep's houses. lots of terraforming to do and futz around with. i like the ideas i had for builds, but they just got crowded & didn't fit & the terraforming is rough. i might just keep it simple and symmetrical. though i did try that once and it just looked weird. so. idk. i'll figure it out.

anyway. i did it. my original island has completed all possible achievements. as you can see in the video, i have over 520k nook miles. i still have my two starter villagers (katt and roald--i'm considering letting roald move, but i worry that no one would want him and i DO NOT want to void him, i'd be devastated, so we'll see)

i have ~35 million bells

i also completed HHP

and the museum (which you have to do to earn all of the nook miles achievement stamps)

my catalog is huge, but my storage is FULL (almost) so redecorating and ordering things would be a big undertaking

i think i might build more vacation homes for my darlings

the sad thing is i built a vacation home for aurora, and then i let her move off of the island and now on HHP she doesn't remember me :(

anyway.

i feel accomplished in a v silly way.

i "completed" the game. now i get to just vibe and design my island and hang out w my cute villagers.

the current populace is (in order of when they moved to the island): katt, roald, vivian, goldie, maple, poppy, maddie, dobie, kiki, and shep.

i'd love to take punchy or purrl if they showed up

previous denizens of illyria include: rhonda, benedict, flora, claudia, tammy, agnes, joey (we don't talk about joey), huck (we DO NOT TALK ABOUT HIM), audie, pinky, blanche, aurora, rosie, lopez, wolfgang, whitney, shino, sasha, and ione.

katt, roald, rhonda, benedict, and flora were my original 5. then huck [hisses] and then vivian & claudia. gets hazy after that who arrived in order. all i remember is that i got goldie to replace huck in 27 tickets, and idr who moved out for me to move maple in, but i found her in 6 tickets.

the ONLY amiibo card villager in there is ione. i found literally everyone else on a NMT island (including shino and sasha), in the campsite, from someone off nookazon, or they were an autofill [stares angrily at joey]. oh no wait, poppy was from a friend of mine. they found poppy on an island & took her purely bc they knew i was looking for her. and before they deleted their island save to start over, they got her to ask to move out so i could take her.

blanche (my birthday twin!), rosie, lopez, and kiki were, i think, all campsite villagers i moved in. and everyone else i found on an island OR on nookazon. but i think....yeah i'm pretty sure the only nookazon villager on illyria was aurora? and it was fitting bc then i traded her on nookazon to someone else who was THRILLED to have her, so i was happy she went to a nice home. ☺️ full circle, y'know.

my OTHER island is populated almost entirely by nookazon villagers. lol villager hunting went very poorly over there. i only found bones and sally on my own--everyone else came from nookazon trades. or--no, wait, i think i found bea on my own, as well.

anyway

i just scrolled through all my saved pictures on my switch and jfc what a trip down memory lane

i do remember having to sacrifice a LOT of pictures bc i kept running out of memory :( but a lot of good ones are still there, so at least there's that.

but it looks like i deleted everything of pinky bc i completely forgot abt her until i was "done" w the list of previous villagers. lol

so yeah. acnh. 3 years and change worth of investment and fun and sweet memories. i'm really glad for this game. i love katt so much, she's just the absolute fucking best. she deserved to have my final of the 100 K.K. concerts be her favorite song ☺️

for my new acnh island I think I wanna either make a lore island or a themed island? My precious 2 islands have been farm ore and city core :0 I think I wanna do like an actual story tho because I’ve been watching so many people who do that and it’s so cool?? maybe I’ll do a sonic themed island but I’d have no idea what to do? I named my island Dreamcast and did the little logo by myself :3 anyway I’ll figure it out someday! rn I’m villager hunting for the three first villagers eeee!!
