Axel Hughes

The Life of Axel Hughes and her best friend Freya Hischer

The mixed au I'm doing with the wonderful, @toasttt11 !

Axel Luquinn Hughes was born to Jack Hughes and now ex partner Julia Callahan on September 14 2021.

Jack and Julia were very early in the stages of dating when Julia fell pregnant with Axel. Julia wanted nothing to do with Axel as she saw her as the reason her life was ruined.

Axel spent the first 13 years of her life being tormented by her mothers presence and her cruel, snide and plain awful remarks. Julia stalked Jack and Axel, online, and in real life through tracking their locations on social media. This was put to a stop when Jack had filed for a restraining order when Axel was thirteen.

Axel was born in Newark, New Jersey.

Jack chose the name Axel because from the first time he saw his daughter, he knew she needed a name that would be different. Axel was chosen because Jack described her birth as the day he felt his world get tipped on its axis. Luquinn in honor of his younger and older brothers and Axel obviously took her fathers last name.

Axel lives in Jack and Luke’s shared apartment, which means that they also live in the same building as Nico Hischier and his daughter Freya.

Freya and Axel have been friends before they could talk. They are born six months apart, Freya being the older one. They go to each other with everything.

Jack learnt the art of being a single parent from Nico, he was taught how to change diapers, braid hair even though both girls didn’t have enough hair yet.

Axel wasn’t a needy baby, but for a long time, it was her way or the highway. Jack called Ellen within the first six months of Axel’s life saying to his mother, “Some small country is missing it’s dictator, and she’s living at my house.”

Jack never thought of getting a tattoo before Axel was born but on his left index finger he has ink that says 14/8/21 with a small gear wheel next to it. This is the finger Axel grabbed when he first held her.

Nico is Axel’s Godfather

Axel absolutely despises shopping, unlike her father. However, Nico’s daughter Freya, loves it just as much. So while Jack and Freya walk around shopping malls together gossiping about how different brands are better than others, Axel and her Godfather Nico sulk along behind betting how long they will be in each store.

Axel’s favorite pastime is to bully (playfully) her uncle Luke. Since forever, whenever Freya is around both her, and Axel gang up on Luke.

Axel is very outgoing and has a big personality, but after certain issues with her ex-friends it has developed some trust issues and anxiety. One Christmas when she was 2 years old her grandparents Ellen and Jim were in town. They gave her a green weighted snake that she uses when she's older to help quell the panic attacks.

Axel’s first word wasn’t Dad it was actually reya. Because she couldn’t pronounce her F’s.

Whenever Quinn is in town Axel is always stuck to his side. She her own customized Canucks Jersey with her hockey number because when she was little she insisted on being on the ice with her Uncle ‘Winny’

Axel loves storms and rain, she makes her Dad run in the rain and jump in puddles when it does.

Axel of course has been playing hockey as soon as she could stand on skates and has always loved it. When she gets anxious she goes out onto the rink and just sits on the ice until her backside is numb.

axel and freya

Axel and Freya get two kittens when they were young and named them hearts and diamond.

Freya and Axel always share their ice cream both gettting their favorite flavors and sharing each others ice cream.

Freya and Axel are very protective of each other and there has been many times they have both gotten into fights to protect each other.

Freya always has treated Axel like her baby even if they are six months apart, she use to push axel around in her stroller when they were kids and Freya got her license first and was always driving Axel around asking Axel never really need to get her license and happily be the passenger princess.

Freya has always had a very hard time with touch and for awhile had to wear gloves all the time so Axel who hates shopping would spend hours trying to find every type and color of gloves for Freya to wear and would sew little A’s into the gloves.

Freya doesn’t like touch at all and Axel has been very understanding of theh always going out of her way to make sure she never has skin skin contact with Freya without her permission, and if they are in crowds makes sure no one comes to close to Freya.

Axel and Freya have always had an easy time understanding each other and growing up they started reading and understanding each other with any words and started making hand gestures that only they would understand, making being on the ice really easy for the two, eventually from being on the ice together for son long they barely even do anything and they know what the other is doing.

Axel is definitely more chaotic of the two but Freya can be just just as crazy as she would never let her best friend do something alone.

Axel and Freya grew up around different rinks and would just cause chaos and loved to prank everyone.

Axel doesn’t really care to much for fashion so a lot of the times Freya will pick out what she should wear and how to do her hair.

Axel got Freya matching pendants with their initials engraved on them and Freya got the one with an A for Axel and Axel got the one with an F for Freya.

Freya always carries snacks on her knowing if she pulls them out and eats some of them offering some to Axel she will be more likely to eat.

Freya is definitely the cook between the two and is Axel’s favorite person to get food from.

Axel is obsessed with Gossip girl and Freya honestly has no idea what is going on in the show other than hearing in when Axel is watching it and Axel talking about it always.

The day Axel turned 18 the two for a tattoo together, A tiny ace and a tiny spade on their wrist for each other.

introducing freya

Freya Elisabeth Hischer was born on March 13, 2021 to her parents Nico Hischer and Eleanor Rose Brooks.

Nico and Eleanor childhood sweethearts and were in love for years, having got married before they moved to New Jersey and wanted to have their first child together but complications happened and Freya was coming seven weeks early before she was supposed to and the birth not only almost killed a preemie Freya but it killed Eleanor, leaving behind a heartbroken Nico.

Nico never once thought it was his daughters fault because it wasn’t and he wouldn’t ever blame her for something she had no control of and he knew his Eleanor is glad their daughter lived.

Eleanor’s family never approved of Nico and Eleanor’s relationship and when they heard of the death of their daughter they only blamed Freya leaving the commutation between Freya and her mothers side almost nonexistent.

Eleanor has a younger brother Caleb who moved to live with Eleanor and Nico the second he turned 18, moved there when Eleanor was four months pregnant and was very excited for his niece to come and was in the hospital when his sister died, he neither ever blamed Freya.

Caleb having knowing Nico since he was born always looked up to Nico as a older brother and following him in his passion of hockey, another thing his parents disapprove of. Caleb was drafted second overall in the 2020 NHl draft to the New Jersey Devils as a defenseman.

Nico, Caleb and Freya continued to live in the apartment Eleanor had picked out, Jack Hughes had moved into his friend’s apartment building and soon was joined with his daughter Axel.

Freya and Axel became fast friends even as a baby they easily babbled with each other and giggles together.

Freya being the older one was always more protective of her best friend and wanted to protect her from everything, especially from treatment Axel received from mother.

Freya and Axel are the opposite of people but the two fit extremely well with each other.

The two playing hockey with eachother their whole lives had made the two became an insane team on the ice and became the first two women in the NHL, Freya the first overall pick a year before and Axel the first overall pick the year joining each other on the same team.

Freya has always been very in tune with Axel and notice her anxious ticks and knows Axel feels the best on the ice so there’s been many times she had a gently grabbed Axels hands and took her to the rink laying with her till Axel felt better.

Nico always told Freya that her mother loved the stars so Freya likes to the stars as she would talk to her mother if she had the chance.

Freya and Axel have had the nicknames ace and space for just each other since they were young, Axel being ace and Freya being spade, from a young age all the way till their in the NHL especially when the two work together to score a goal it’s always the ace of spades scored.

Freya chose the number 11 because of Axel’s nickname ace which is number 1 in the deck of cards, and Axel choosing the number 66 as a reminder of the six months age difference between the two.

The six month age difference never bothered the two, they barely even remembered it until they realized Freya would get drafted a year before Axel and that year had the longest times they had been away from each other before Axel got drafted going to the same team as Freya.

Freya has always hate physical touch more and more as she grew up, some days she can’t handle any touch and she knows her best friend Axel loves touch so once in a while Freya can’t tolerate a quick hug or a head rested on her shoulder by Axel.

Freya had picked out a snow leopard stuff animal when Nico and her went to meet Axel for the first time and Axel has kept it since and while spray it with Freya’s perfume to cuddle the stuff animal to sleep better as Freya usually can’t handle cuddling up to Axel all night.

Freya and Axel are menaces together from a young age terrorizing anybody and anyone and nobody was safe from their pranks but them.

Axel and Freya head cannons.

Axel and Freya got kittens when they were younger and named them hearts and diamond.

Axel and Freya always share their ice creams, they each have two favourite flavours and they both get their favourite flavour and swap ice creams halfway through.

Freya and Axel are both very protective of each other and there have been countless times where they get into fights to protect each other.

Freya has always treated Axel like her baby even though they are only six months apart. Freya use to push Axel around the arena in her dolls pram and fed her little snacks she made and made her drink from a a baby bottle. This also progressed to later in life when Freya got her licence and Axel was driven around every where because she is the ultimate passenger princess.

For a very long time Freya has a severe aversion to touch and had to wear gloves all the time. So Axel who hates shopping makes it her mission to go and buy Freya as many different styles, colours and types of gloves for Freya. Axel who has a small affinity for sewing and embroidery put little A’s on every pair of gloves for her.

Freya doesn’t like touch at all and Axel has always been very understanding of this and has always made a conscious effort not to not to have skin to skin contact with her without her permission. When in large crowds Axel makes sure to keep people away and even goes so far as to push people who get to close to touching Freya away. However it’s rare they are in crowds because they often go at night.

The two girls always have been able to understand each other really easily from very young ages, when they grew older it evolved into head gestures only they knew. This translated onto the ice and after many years of playing together they were able to just know what the other person was going to do leading them to win multiple championships.

It’s well established that Axel is a very chaotic person and that Freya is the more level headed of the two. However Freya would never let her best friend do something alone.

Freya always carries around snacks in her purse and eats them at random times because she knows if she eats Axel will have something too.

Freya is 100% the cook between the two, because Axel can’t cook for her life.
