Fanfic Tag Game
Thanks for the tag @aeide 🤍 fairly sure I did this a while back, but I have time so why not 😊
1. How many fics do you have on AO3? 19
2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 481662
3. What fandoms do you write for? Have written for: AC Syndicate, AC Odyssey, AC Valhalla, Stardew Valley, Hades (game), Pyre, Ancient History RPF, and am tinkering with maybe something Minecraft. Maybe.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos? Snatched Moments (163) The Warmth of Home (122) Another Turn Around the Wheel (116) Unfinished Business (71) and the Good Spartan (53).
5. Do you respond to comments? Usually - unless someone replies to every chapter in quick succession, (and especially if the comments are only emojis) - then I tend to just reply to those that I have something worth responding with; or with the emojis situation, just the final one.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Rising to the Surface. No doubt about it. Or maybe the Good Spartan. That seems to get a lot of ‘this ended me’ type comments so yeah.
7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Most of my fics have some variation of a happy ending. I think the one I’m writing now (Another Life) will be the most definitively happy though.
8. Do you get hate on fics? Not really, no. Disappointment that they’re unfinished from time to time, but not hate.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Yeah, mlm mostly. Very mild, vanilla really.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I’ve never written one. Just not my bag.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I’m aware of, unless you count AI scraping, in which case, almost certainly, probably all of them, up to and including all my original work.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? No.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic? No. I don’t do collaborative writing. Again, just not my bag.
14. What’s your all time favourite ship? I don’t have one. I’m a multishipper to my core, because it’s too fun putting characters together with different partners to see what the relationship brings out of them to go all-in on one pairing.
15. What’s a fic you’d like to finish but don’t think you ever will? Still Crawling Kingsnake. I love it but there’s just no ending. Not even a shadow of one.
16. What are your writing strengths? Fighting the urge to be self-deprecating here - I like to think I do a good job with dialogue and building a character. I feel less doubtful about that than the rest, anyway.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Everything else.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic? If I knew one, I’d do it. I read lots of things with this feature so why not. I would be certain to provide a translation for readers though (side-eyeing academic papers).
19. First fandom you wrote for? AC Odyssey.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written? The Good Spartan or Shadow-Twin. I think they’re both decent, just in different ways. I also like Another Life so far, tentatively hopeful that it’ll be worth reading when it’s done.
Probably everyone has already been tagged, so sorry if I’m doubling up or you’ve done this recently and I missed it. Just a few with no pressure @findusinaweek @ainulindaelynn @krankittoeleven @softest-punk

As of today, I have decided to take a reprieve from Tumblr. I do not intend for this to be a long-term absence (hopefully no longer than two or three weeks), I only need some time away from this website. My writing won't be impacted by this but just know if you've sent a request, it may be a little longer than normal before it is posted. I’ll be using this time to catch up on everything and get a jump start on the next chapters of Kryptic. Now that I have delivered this news, all my readers and followers deserve to know why it is that I feel I must do this.
I've been writing for Alexios since 2018 with the release of Odyssey. I love Alexios' character and wanted to create and share content for others to enjoy since there really isn't much for him in comparison to say, Kassandra. For a year and a half, I've posted my works to Tumblr, Wattpad, and AO3 without issue.
In March, I saw a link going around to join a discord server about Assassin's Creed called AC Tumblr (ACT for short). Thinking it would be a fun opportunity to connect with people who also liked Assassin's Creed and share my stories, I decided to join. A naïve action on my part looking back. Shortly after I joined, I received my very first piece of anon hate ever. Note that I have been writing for over 10 years now and for several fandoms including the MCU, Game of Thrones, and Lord of the Rings and have never received an ask that was pure anon hate. I knew it was no coincidence as this message contained cues to things I had only ever mentioned on ACT. But I played it off and didn’t think much of it.
But it happened again, and again, and again. You have only seen the tip of the messages I have received as many of them I just delete —there’s no sense giving these people the time of day. A week has not passed since March without me receiving hateful messages about my Assassin’s Creed stories, or how I write a certain character, or why I tag things the way I do. I left the anonymous function on during this time because I know people can be uncomfortable requesting prompts off anon and I didn’t want to alienate my readers by forcing them to make a request off anon or via DM. But now, after 6 months, I am tired of it. I’m tired of the anon hate, I’m tired of the drama from ACT, and I’m tired of it following me to my Tumblr. Where once I loved seeing messages pop up in my inbox because it would be new requests or fun asks, I now dread to see what vile things people that do not know me will have to say.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In a few months on ACT, I became one of the most active members of the server. I shared my stories that I spend so much time creating. I shared my headcanons and AUs for characters. I talked with people about my OCs Irene and Lesya and shared “behind the scenes” things for Phobia and Kryptic. I thought I was having fun, making friends (and I have made friends —I’ve made three great friends from ACT), but it seems that I was also making enemies and didn’t even realize it.
Let me be clear. If anyone ever has a problem with something I’ve done or said one, please come to me and come to me off anon. I’m an adult, I can civilly discuss things, but I cannot read minds.
After about 2 months on the server, it felt like I couldn’t say anything at all without being unjustly watched just because I was rising in ranks and on the server’s leaderboard. It got to the point where I couldn’t carry on a conversation with someone without constantly being moved from channel to channel —how can you speak to people if the conversation is in four different places? You can’t. That’s how conversations die (that and slowmode). Just for an example, from the end of August, until I decided to leave, I and another of the most active members on ACT went silent after being unjustly targeted and under constant surveillance and scrutiny to the point where we could no longer speak to one another on the server —in our absence, there was hardly any activity in a server of almost 200 people. On top of this, the server lacked any sort of transparency and accountability among those who were supposed to be keeping ACT safe for everyone —the suspicions I’d had all along were proven true. And this is only a small preview of what I’ve noticed during my time there.
Nearly a month ago, I left both ACT and the affiliated NSFW server after weeks of no longer feeling welcomed and being singled out in a community that is supposed to be accepting and welcoming to everyone. On Friday, I was invited back into this server as I had become a topic of discussion, despite the claims that no one here talks about people after they leave, I spoke my part and made my peace, but even after this, people that I am certain are from the server will not let the drama die to the point where it is beginning to feel like harassment.

My hope now is that with my anons off and a sizable break, all this will we be in the past by the time I return. In the meantime, thank you to everyone who has offered support during these months and have been so quick to come to my defense —it means more than I can ever say. Know that I will not forget this and that I will not let this stop me from writing for the characters I love. More fics will be coming soon and my inbox will always be open to requests.

[20 Question Fic Writer Tag]
tagged by @findusinaweek - Thank you my dear 🤍
How many works do you have on AO3? 16 atm
What is your AO3 word count? 451,021 words
What fandoms do you write for? Assassin's Creed Odyssey & Valhalla, Stardew Valley, Ancient History & Historical RPF, Thucydides' History of the Peloponnesian War (Yes, I insist this is a true fandom lol), and Hades game (though they aren't on AO3 atm). Oh, I also wrote a AC Syndicate fic ages ago which I still have somewhere.
What are your top five fics by kudos? Snatched Moments (ACV); The Warmth of Home (ACO); Another Turn Around the Wheel (Stardew); Unfinished Business (ACO); and The Gods Only Know (ACV).
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Absolutely. I know exactly how hard it can be to leave comments, and I think it's important to acknowledge that - from the single love heart to the genuinely long comments (like several paragraphs) - I want to show my appreciation. Also, I get loads of historical questions, and I'm always so excited to answer those.
What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Rising to the Surface, hands down... Though come to think of it, The Good Spartan is a close second.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Most of them end well, but I think my current fic is going to be the most traditionally happily ever after... probably. If not, then Another Kind of Odyssey wins.
Do you get hate on fics? Not really - though I've had the ol' 'You owe me an ending, I read this far!' before.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Yeah, mlm mostly; but I don't think I'm particularly good at it, so the story really has to demand it for me to go there.
Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? I mean, technically The Good Spartan is a Thucydides/Odyssey crossover, favouring Thucydides - but unless trying to make a game which is almost entirely historically inaccurate [affectionate] into something accurate is crazy... which yeah, now that I write that, I think it probably is :D
Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of.
Have you ever had a fic translated? No.
Have you ever cowritten a fic before? No - I have tried writing collaboratively in non-fic projects, but it's not for me.
What's your all-time favourite ship? I could not possibly choose one.
What's a WIP you'd like to finish but doubt you ever will? Crawling Kingsnake, my Hades game fic. I really like what I have so far, but my brain has moved on and I can't see myself getting back into that mindframe again.
What are your writing strengths? So just from what others have said of my writing, off the top of my head, I'm good at: conveying a lot of information clearly and succinctly; drawing out the signficance of small everyday moments; writing non-conformist characters and *waves a hand vaguely* the historical stuff.
What are your writing weaknesses? I have a penchant for interiority in my characters that I have to fight against, or there would be far too much thinking in every chapter. I use 'in a moment' so much I have to do a word search every time and remove a billion instances where it's not necessary; and I don't use contractions naturally, so editing is a lot of fixing that.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I mean, I'd do it if I could, but my language skills don't stretch that far. More broadly, I'm fine with it in other work if a translation is provided .
First fandom you wrote for? Assassin's Creed Odyssey technically, if we're talking knowing it was fanfic as I was writing it; though back when I was 6 I wrote a story heavily inspired by Gone with the Wind so... Gone with the Wind, I guess. (Or LOTR when I was in my teens...)
Favourite fic you've ever written? The Good Spartan and Shadow-Twin, maybe?
Tags with zero pressure @krankittoeleven (you knew it was coming lol) @ainulindaelynn @myriath @merelyafigment @softest-punk and anyone else who might want to jump in 🤍
