I know it’s a lot of characters to sort but if you don’t mind sharing, where would you say the people in the DA fall in the spectrum of trust and fondness for Headmaster Ukai? On one side we have Oikawa who definitely does not trust or seemingly like him, and then we have Noya (I think?) who suggested the name Ukai’s army so he probably has some degree of trust/fondness for him. Where do most of the characters fall within that scale?
Oooh good question! I'd say it's currently*...
*in the 5th story for people who come across this post later. Since this list will certainly change
Least Trust:
1.) Oikawa-he doesn't trust practically anyone rn outside of his small group of friends and he especially doesn't trust people in authority and 2x especially anyone who was involved in the last war. Oikawa lives in rage and is definitely curently #1 to Stab an Authority Figure in their Sleep
2.) Daishou-this is definitely a lot less than Oikawa but I'd still say he'd be next in list sicne he is 1.) a Slytherin who aren't the most trusting bunch to begin with, 2.) raised around Uncle/Minister who never trusted Ukai and would likely let some of that slip, 3.) Knows how much of a fake his Uncle/Minister is and likely thinks Ukai as the other major war general hero is much the same
3.) Iwaizumi-oddly not because of that thing with the 2nd Task but that didn't help. Nah, Iwa-chan still definitely holds a grudge about that thing with Oikawa and the veritaserum from the begginning of 4th...even tho technically Oikawa took that by semi-choice
4.) Kuroo-similar to Daishou, he's way too familiar with politicians with fake public faces. Nothing really aganist Ukai in particular, just not big on public people who everyone seems to praise (which Ukai definitely was as a war general hero before this year with all the bad press aganist Hogwarts)
Ambivalent Range ie The I'm Just Not That Trustfull Bunch:
5.) Mika-matches up with Daishou in that she's not too trusting of anyone who technically has powr over her (by being her Headmaster)
6.) Yaku- Teenage Curmudgen(TM)
7.) Tsukishima- Teenage Misanthrope (TM)....ranks more trusting than Yaku since Tsuki's experience with Minister last year made his ostensible rival (the Headmaster) look better by comparison
8.) Makki & Matsu- Come On We're Still Slytherins Duo....really it's just that they have a bone deep rebellious streak and a long history of pranking
He's Alright, I Guess? Range:
9.) Kenma- Has genuinely never thought of the Headmaster much
10.) Ennoshita- Headmaster's way better than the Minister...2nd least trusting of the Crows so he sitll holds some resentment because of how the werewolf stuff was handled in 3rd story but likes that the Headmaster was able to keep it a secret from the press and student body
11.) Amani- Is a pretty friendly person in general
12.) Shimizu- Certified Teacher Friend (in a good, non-suck up way). I mean, come on, she's been a library assistant for forever. She was 100% the kid on the playground who would rather sit by the tachers and read quietly (this was me in elementary btw). She desn't really know the Headmaster but has genrally positive feelings towards the Hogwarts faculty
13. ) Yamaguchi- 3rd least trusting of Crows, too much time around Tsuki. Still has complicated feelings about 3rd story stuff. Pretty similar to Ennoshita, but Yamaguchi was raised more in the wizarding world so still has more of the Ukai-Great-War-General vibes
14.) Kageyama-Wait, what does this have to do about Quidditch?
Yes, I like Him Range:
15.) Yachi- "While there are some things I feel complicated about [insets paragraph] I also accept that human beigns are naturally flawed and that becasue he also did many good things like [inserts multiple paragraphs], I generally feel that our Headmaster is a good person though subject to human flaws as we all are" (Questioner has long since tuned out). Basically, Yachi's a good egg who recognizes flaws but aslo that everyone's a bit complicated
16.) Daichi-Genuinely appreciative of everything he's done for Asahi to let him attend and cover up aspects of what happened in 3rd.
The You Could Stab Me And I'd Say "Hey, You Dropped Your Knife" Crew....ie the just really trusting in genral bunch
17.) Bokuto- :)
18.) Hinata- :) (Oikawa voice in the background): He drugged you and left you in a forest! Hinata: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Headmaster is a Badass! Group/ Most Trusting and Genuinely Admire Him:
19.) Lev-Dude, Headmaster Ukai fought aganist the Giant! He's Awesome (But Scary)
20.) Tanaka- complicated family history which makes him greatly look up to a hero of the war who put a lot of Ghosts behind bars
21.) Asahi- Is very appreciative of Ukai for letting him attend Hogwarts and helping him with all the necessary paperwork
22.) Suga-Is so adamantly aganist his family's legacy that it fuels a bit of a blind side of viewing Headmaster's faults. He really does have some very secific blinders that come on when it comes to his family legacy. Overly trust figure of the oposite side is likely one of them.
23.) Noya- 2x admiration since Ukai also helped his uncle get in when he was a student and then helped Asahi and just in general has been just very cool about helping students of various creature legacies (like veelas, werewolves, dhampir, etc) into Hogwarts. Also Ukai's a war hero
Bonus:
Akaashi-who needs trust when I've got foresight?
In other words, Akaashi's too weird on what "trust" as a concept even is to put him on this list. How do you view trust when you genrally know for a sorta-fact how people will behave?

no holding back you say alright. i shall try! and maybe i'll start with actually introducing my tav because. yeah. (spoiler, i absolutely did not hold back ☹️)
soooo my tav, let's name her vien because that's actually the name she introduces herself with is a simple, elven bard. on the surface she's nice to everyone, a great performer, singer, dancer, she's even quite good at archery! and she apparently can pick up a basic lock, but if you ask her why she can do that, she won't tell you, no. she gets excited over butterflies and pretty flowers! she adores weaving flowers into her long as hell twin braids. she's a high charisma girlie and yet sometimes she has her certified "1 charisma moment TM" and she just gets soo awkward it's embarrassing. and she likes giving gifts to people if she can. the more time you spend around her though, you'll notice that she can be kinda mean sometimes... or that her actions are sometimes fueled by "will it benefit me?", rather than "will it benefit everyone?" although yes, she can be persuaded! or that despite looking and (at times) acting like some noble lady, she actually has some survival instinct (don't let the vampire drink from your neck, touch the weird hand that sticks out of a weird portal with a long stick first in case it tries to drag you in...) and she knows how to hunt! in general, she really looks like this goody-two-shoes, all the honeyed words and literal poetry slipping past her lips because, of course she's a bard, oh wow, oh gods. and she's soo secretive about her past, the most she said that she came from a small, nice family and that her father is a monster hunter (monster hunter! really, can you believe that?) and... that's like, it. except vien and astarion actually share things in common!!
like i said, she's an elf and she was actually born in an elven village but one unfortunate day, her family got assaulted, her mother was killed and vien herself was kidnapped by some. asshole and kept as his... private entertainment for the guests, oh just sit prettily and play some music for us, maybe sing, maybe dance, say goodbye to your self-worth, sooorry. people were genuinely terrible to her at that time and she really was treated as just some entertaiment and nothing more than that, aaand she was stuck in this terrible situation for 25 years, hope to get out of it being killed every day, any disobedience punished and just ohhhh. it was very bad. but one day she... actually succeeded and ran away!! she knew that failure would probably end with her saying goodbye to the living, but luckily she didn't fail. this was her third try and the previous two obviously ended with um. failure. anyways. even though she was free, she was still a very young elf, in a place she basically didn't know, alone and on the run.
so for the three years she was just singing around in taverns for money or a place to sleep, flirting around with people because, well, she was taught that the greatest value was in her perfomances and body so.. that's what she stuck to. but she never slept with anyone because, well again, she was scared of it and after just soooo many years of hearing weird and creepy comments about herself, her view on intimacy and desire was just... ruined. but in the end she was found by some nice human couple that decided to help the poor girl, let her stay and they even started treating her like her daughter!! she finally found a safe place to relax and heal, no longer having to worry about whether she will survive the night or not. she started to genuinely enjoy singing, dancing and performing after she started doing it with the audience of no one, just for herself and it felt good! felt great! but she was still stuck with this mindset "oh, let people flirt with me and say whatever, i'll flirt back, promise them something to dream of tonight even though i completely hate it, i can't find it in myself to say no" but... hey, she was going somewhere with healing anyway! at least this much. and then two years later she got yoinked, tadpole'd and now stuck with a group of random weirdos in the middle of nowhere. how can you not love life.
AND WE'RE DONE WITH THE INTRODUCTION AUHGHGD i'm sorry it's so stupidly long </3 but i figured it would be better to... actually know what kind of character we are talking about, especially since she has some layers and just skimming over her backstory would do vien no justice. yeah! so yes, miss vien and astarion. she was the daughter of the village chief, he was a magistrate, both were held captive for many years as just simple slaves with no control over their own persons whatsoever, but vien– she actually got her freedom back, she was actually helped few times even durning those three years of wandering around! and she slowly got to re-learn how to enjoy life. steps, steps, i think she still got plenty of steps to do but it's alright, she got the time. and astarion didn't get any help unfortunately. i think she would actually be heartbroken to hear about cazador, i mean?? those 25 years were hell for her, she can hardly imagine 200 years! she wasn't even alive for half of it! but, oh, she obviously stays quiet about her own experiences because she founds... it embarrassing. to admit that for so long, she was treated as nothing but cheap intertaiment.
but i was thinking about how their relationship would go, right? i think the beginning would be a little rough honestly... i did say that she's nice, but at the very beginning i think she would be rather... nice enough to have people like her. she would put some distance, some safety net in case things go south, than nice-nice. though, vien isn't above witty or sassy comebacks if someone says something, and she's especially not above laughing to herself at people's comments, so maybe they would kinda get along... after some time. but also i absolutely still can see her flirting with astarion sometimes, not even realizing. a little messy. the party gets it only messier i can imagine!! the scene where astarion asks tav to sleep with him… vien wouldn't find it in herself to say yes so she, yes, will flirt with him for the next ten minutes with bad wine as her companion and, "yes i am refusing but it's not because i'm not into you, just… really in a forest 🥺 and after such terrible wine? 🥺 surely we can do better 🥺 obviously i am not saying no, don't take it like this, please. now excuse me as i go to my tent and silently panic because i disliked it, but also now i need a way to keep you interested in me because i actually started to genuinely enjoy your companionship 🥺", fast foward to now sticking around astarion, but also obviously flirting with him, but also being nice enough combined with actually falling for him, much to vien's absolute horror.
i think astarion would find it kinda frustrating… i mean, sure, it does seem like he's on her good side and stuff, but is he really? the moment they get too close, she runs away with a laugh like a wounded animal from its hunter, and yet she comes back anyway (it's because she's going through ten different inside conflicts at the same time, astarion, let the woman be!). his nice simple plan both worked and got kinda messed up. actually, i feel like astarion would be smart enough to sooner or later notice that there's something off about vien… sure, she has her way with words and knows how to act, how to perform but i feel like there's only this long a person can keep up a believable act while also dealing with the entire tadpole problem and with everything else. a matter of time, probably… really, under all this charisma and pretty words she's just a scared, young girl navigating through this mess of her own feelings, problems and whatever relationship it is.
also, a bit on a side note, but i do believe that vien would tell him about all the things she went through in the past! and i even know when! because i planned it but shhhh in my storyline there is a scene where the party gets ambushed by, surprise surprise, people of the man that kidnapped her years ago because, wow, turns out he still wanted her back, he was still very angry that she ran away and all the stuff. the companions emerge victorious, kinda bloodied but still. vien emerges bloodied and about to break down. and i feel like this would be the moment she tells him about it– because, well, it's not really like she has any other choices. she cries and only tells him about any details and it's a rather sad moment, obviously </3 this entire scene would probably be set sometime after his confession i think. mhm. but i also dunno exactly how astarion would react at this because i have yet to think of it :') although i do always accept any thoughts
anyways i just hit 1,6k words and. so sorry it got so long 😭😭😭 i actually didn't thought i'll write this much but here we are. i will end this here but… since i have some more thoughts about whatever these two have, i don't mind sending them later if you'd want to obv 🙏 i also sure hope things do make sense, there's quite a chance i forgot a detail or two or explained something not how i actually see it in my mind because i'm terrible at explaining!! but. yes. once again very sorry for the wall of text and if you have anything to say about it, then please do 🙏 and really don't feel pressured into replying to this mhm yeah. i shall now leave! have a good day/night <3
Hello there duck! Sorry for keeping you waiting for so long, it took me a while to get to this one.
First off: Your Tav sounds lovely! But I do see why you'd say that their relationship will be difficult at first and I do agree with you.
The thing is: Given her nature, she'll be hard to make sense of for anyone that isn't in her head. It will be hard to know where you stand with her, because of her tendency to be rather skittish and that is something that will likely not only frustrate Astarion, but scare him.
Astarion needs Tav. He needs Tav on his side to be safe. And to be safe, he needs to know where they stand.
He doesn't get that with Vien. So it will likely take him a lot longer to actually start to trust her, and he might keep giving her the good old side eye because, gods, what exactly is that woman scheming? Is there a hidden agenda he has yet to uncover? Why is she so skittish?
As for how he'd react to her story...well, once again entirely dependent on the setting.
Since it's after his confession, we know he's already somewhat mellowed towards her, so now we need to know if they're alone or if the others are with them. He'd likely not be soft if someone was watching since, as Sceleritas mentions, Tav is about the only one he trusts, the only one he isn't scared of.
If they're alone, however, he'd likely be a lot softer, warmer. But not a "let me hug your pain away, love" type of soft but rather a...I'll sit here and listen without judgement or force, because I get it.
I think I mentioned it in another ask, but shared trauma can create a sense of understanding where not everything needs to be discussed.
Not everything needs to be said. Sometimes, it is enough to just sit and listen and sometimes it's okay to plainly just sit.
He gets it. Vien gets it. They'll be fine either way.
I think that's already about all I can say, duck! You already seem to have put a metric fuck ton of thought into things, haha.
Have a lovely day! ❤️

Question Game!
I was tagged by @phlintandsteel!
rules:
1. answer the questions given by the person who tagged you
2. write 10 questions of your own and tag 10 people
1.  Have you ever truly hated another human being?
Yes.  My stepmom’s son.  She raised him as a single mom, and while she didn’t have much of anything, she gave it all to him.  He wanted to go to broadcasting school to be a radio DJ.  She was terrified that he’d fail, but supported him anyway, and when he didn’t fail, she was his biggest fan.  Then he met and married Old Southern Money, and became ashamed of his roots.  He cut off all contact with her -- told her via fucking certified mail that she didn’t “do enough” for him and he wanted nothing more to do with her.  Periodically he calls just to fuck with her brain, saying that he wants to talk, only to go off on her and belittle her.  When his first kid was born, he invited her and my dad to the baptism, and when they flew down to New Orleans on their own dime he bitched her out and told her he didn’t want her there.  Like he'd never intended for her to attend, he just wanted to humiliate her in person.  We had her on suicide watch for weeks after that little trick.  I've actually wondered if driving her to suicide is his goal.  He is staggeringly cruel, an absolute waste of humanity, and the world would be so much better off without him in it.  At least then my stepmom could have some goddamn closure and stop getting tortured every six months.  I hope his wife has a billion affairs, gives him crotch rot, and leaves him for the mailman.  I hope his kids grow up to break his heart.  I’d also really like to kick his balls into his throat.  Repeatedly.
... sorry.  You asked.  :/
2.  How do YOU pronounce caramel?
CARE-uh-mel.
3.  What was your first fandom?
Um.  Okay, so, like.  I'm old. Tumblr OldTM, but still. So I'm kind of not sure how to answer this question.
The first thing I went absolutely nuts over was My Little Pony.  I was four, and there were these pastel unicorns and I.  Had. To have.  Them all.
The first thing I made up stories in my head about was Rainbow Brite.
The first thing I had headcanon for was She-Ra, Princess of Power.  When the DVDs came out and I rewatched the series as an adult, I was genuinely shocked that the episode where Adora had to earn everyone's trust because hello, there's usually a step between "I've decided to quit being the enemy's greatest general" and "I accept the position of leadership in your rebellion", didn't actually exist.  I still "remember" it vividly, and I'm not entirely convinced that there wasn't some history rewriting or parallel universe involved.
The first fanfiction I wrote was for Final Fantasy I.  I wrote a Save Our Princess! flyer for some spelling test or something in sixth grade.
My first actual online fandom was Sailor Moon.  I had a 2400 baud modem, and the tiny, distorted, 300x400 video of the Japanese opening credits took two days to download.  Fanfiction.net didn't exist yet, never mind AO3.  We had WEBRINGS.  It was barbaric.
4.  Guys in high heels, yes or no?
Doesn't do anything for me, but then I'm demi, and my boy has never been into that.  You do you and don't worry about what I think.
5.  Did you go to college, and if so, was it worth it?
I dropped out as a sophomore, so no.  It was not worth it.  I'm making decent money as an entirely self-taught Salesforce admin.
6.  What is your favorite type of AU?
Something that gives me an entirely new experience while staying true to the characters.  I've loved me some A/B/O, and I've also been utterly revolted by A/B/O.  Ditto for soulmates, fake relationships, pretty much all of it.  It's all the writer and their storytelling for me, not a specific setting.
...
OKAY FINE GIVE ME ALL THE LEVERAGE YOI AU IN THE WORLD AND I WILL BE SO HAPPY THERE I SAID IT
7.  Would you hide your orientation/stay in the closet to get ahead in your career (I guess I’m assuming since this is tumblr that we’re all queer here)?
I joined the workforce in the late 1990's.  Of course I have been in the closet at various workplaces, though much of it was less being concerned about possible advancement or lack thereof and more not wanting to deal with being the freak in the triad relationship. These days I'm open about being queer with my coworkers, though I have not laid out any actual details to anyone. Except for the one adorable little baby gay who worried that I might find some people's behavior shocking if I went to Detroit Pride this year.  Then I was all oh sweetie you think I'm vanilla that's so cute let me tell you exactly how wrong you are.
8.  What is your favorite flavor of popcorn?
So I take about a quarter cup of olive oil, right?  The regular stuff, not EVOO; EVOO can't take being heated without losing flavor so there's no point in spending the extra money for the sake of being fancy.  I grind up some salt and pepper with a mortar and pestle until it's super fine and add it to the oil, stirring so the particles are evenly suspended throughout.  Then I crush about 4-6 cloves of garlic and add them.  Yes, cloves.  More than that if they're small.  Next, I turn the stove on to the popcorn sweet spot (just past the 7 line on my range) and add a single kernel of corn.  When that pops, it’s time to add the rest of the popcorn, about a half cup.  It has to be kept moving!  I use one of those hand-cranked popcorn kettles that lets me continually stir; if I don't have that it's shaking the (lidded) pot like a savage and trying not to get burned by escaping steam.  When the popcorn is done, it gets dumped in a very large bowl and sprinkled immediately with powdered parmesan cheese so that the remaining oil will allow the cheese to stick to the popcorn.  Sometimes I add some fresh chives if I'm feeling precious.
That is my favorite popcorn, and it is the fucking bomb.
9.  What character do you think deserved a better redemption arc (or to get one when they didn’t)?
Actually, I'm going to go back to my She-Ra headcanon from above.  I know it was a child's cartoon from the 1980's.  But even when I was a child I understood that some transgressions are just too big for "Whoops, sorry I was like brainwashed and stuff" to cut it.  She needed trials, tribulations.  She needed to earn her place.  Earn the right for redemption.  I'd love to see a take on the series that digs into that.  (That and the Hordak/Adora relationship.  Why the fuck did he raise her to be innocent when keeping her that way was so much trouble?  Was she a trophy?  Was she the one good thing in his life?  If so, why did he make her fight for him?  Did he ever care for her at all?  These questions should keep her up at night.  She should be torn between hatred and love for the father figure she thought she'd had.  IT WOULD BE SO DELICIOUS)
10.  What element would you choose if you could bend/control ONE.
Carbon.  I'd basically have control over everything organic and RULE THE WORLD MUA HA HA HA HA
I’m tagging the following people (entirely voluntary, of course):
@mercury01, @minttytea, @doesitlooklikeineedanotherfandom, @silvercrystal1, @basedpandesal, @cinnamonviking, @spideypool-snarryalways, @planeoftheeclectic, @ihaveacrappyusername, and all of the porn bots.
My questions:
1. What would your ideal T-shirt slogan read?
2. What is your comfort food, activity, and/or piece of clothing, and why?
3. Which fandom are you the most proud to be part of?  Which fandom are you ashamed of?  They can be the same fandom.
4. Name one thing about yourself that you like.  This must be genuine.  NO SIDESTEPPING, SELF-NEGGING, OR BACKHANDED SHIT.  IF I CAN DO IT YOU CAN.
5. Do you have any traditions in your family that you’ve inherited and are happy to carry forward?  Are there any traditions that you’d like to start yourself?
6. What are your pet(s) name(s)?  If you don’t have a pet, what would you name your fantasy pet?
7. What of yours would you like archaeologists (alien or future humans; your choice) to dig up one day?  Why?
8. You’ve done all of those “What’s your porn/writer/Star Wars/etc name” memes.  We all have.  What’s your favorite one?
9. What song summarizes you?
10. What’s your superpower?  Will you be a hero or a villain?
BONUS QUESTION BECAUSE MY HUSBAND WANTS TO CONTRIBUTE BUT IS A SMARTASS:
11. If Richard the Lionheart had actually taken his shit seriously, do you think he could have spanked Saladin, or did existing socioeconomic and political conditions doom his Crusade to failure?

“Louis Moinet has its very own way of celebrating the 150th anniversary of the first transcontinental railroad connecting the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of the USA. The innovative mechanical creation in question is both a tribute to the pioneers of yesteryear and an invitation to those of the present day – for whom it is available on a pre-order basis of two limited edition of 18 and 69 watches.” Jean-Marie Schaller, CEO & Creative Director Louis Moinet
  150 years ago, A LEGEND WAS BORN…
The idea of building a railroad spanning the North American continent from one ocean to the other dates back to the early nineteenth century. It was a complex undertaking, with a huge continent to be crossed amidst an acute lack of technical and financial resources. Initially, President Thomas Jefferson convinced Congress to allocate $2,500 to Lewis and Clark, who organised the first expedition across the United States from east to west. They faced all kinds of danger – and took two years (1804-1806) to complete their mission. And so the adventure began…
Years of reconnaissance were then needed to identify the route: through the Sierra Nevada mountains, avoiding Death Valley, bypassing the Yosemite Peaks – as well as all the canyons and rapids of the Missouri. In 1862, even as the American Civil War raged, President Abraham Lincoln’s vision involved unifying and reviving the country. He promulgated the Pacific Railroad Act, allocating the construction of the railway to the Union Pacific and Central Pacific companies. Once work had started, each company drew nearer to the other at a rate of forty miles per month.
The project was finally completed on May 10, 1869. After 6 years’ effort, marked by a whole host of unexpected and varied challenges on a daily basis, the first transcontinental railroad was ready! The two companies’ tracks met at Promontory Summit, Utah, linking Sacramento, California to Omaha, Nebraska. A huge number of bridges and tunnels were required, in addition to 1,766 miles of track to connect with the existing railroad network in the east of the USA, thus linking the Pacific coast and the Atlantic coast. This feat revolutionised the nation’s economy, demographics, and mindset. The age of covered wagons travelling along perilous trails was over; modern-day, powerful America had arrived!
Driving the last spike: the legendary “Golden Spike” ceremony.
East and West shook hands as the last piece of track was laid at Promontory Summit on May 10, 1869. To symbolise the event, a Golden Spike was driven in (later replaced by a steel crampon). This iconic symbol of the transcontinental accomplishment is now carefully preserved at the Stanford University museum in California.

Reserved For TODAY’s global pioneers only: the “Transcontinental by Louis Moinet” PRE-ORDER
Louis Moinet has a particularly keen sense of human endeavour; previously, the manufacture has celebrated the exploits of cosmonaut Alexey Leonov and triple Formula One racing world champion Nelson Piquet. It has also supported tropical forest research with the Geograph Rainforest, as well as the installation of water wells in Africa with 123 Action.
Today, in a blend of respect and admiration, Louis Moinet is paying tribute to those who devoted all their energy and knowhow to pushing back boundaries and shaping the world as we know it. One hundred and fifty years after the first transcontinental railroad was completed, Louis Moinet has devised a commemorative watch, destined for the pioneers of the new world we have inherited.
“Transcontinental by Louis Moinet” pre-order
In the spirit of the great human adventures of the nineteenth century, the “Transcontinental by Louis Moinet” pre-order is now open!
From now until September 10, 2019, it is being made available to the descendants of the transcontinental pioneers – as well as to forerunners and innovators everywhere. All of them will recognise the same unique values that enable them to successfully complete their own human endeavours.
Pre-order offers them three key advantages:
1) Ensuring they will be able to possess this collector’s watch, of which there will be just two limited editions (18 watches in rose gold and 69 watches in steel and rose gold);
2) Choosing a customised number (on a first come, first served basis);
3) Benefitting from an attractive launch price, the pre-order amount is very reasonable: USD 57,500.00 in rose gold and USD 38,500.00 in steel and rose gold. It should be borne in mind that the retail price fixed after the pre-order period will be higher. In both cases, delivery will be carried out by one of Louis Moinet’s partner retailers.
Those interested in the pre-order are invited to request further details from [email protected]

The “Transcontinental by Louis Moinet” watch
An innovative mechanism
A clever automaton has been developed to reproduce the coupling rod systems on “Jupiter” and “119”, the two locomotives that made the final connection at Promontory Summit in 1869. A wheel arrangement comprises two large wheels and one small wheel, concentrating energy into continuous power.
The coupling rod passes on power to two reamed, anodised aluminium piston rods – except that here, rather than a piston, the system showcases a reproduction of the legendary Golden Spike, moving up and down in recollection of the thousands of crampons driven in all the way along the route.
The hours and minutes can be read off in the centre of the watch, while the seconds are displayed at six o’clock, on a segment representing the front of a locomotive.
The movement is an automatic winding mechanical movement.

Design
Ateliers Louis Moinet have won 29 prizes over the past ten years, including a large number of design awards from all over the world. Creating meaningful pieces remains the Ateliers’ absolute priority.
“Transcontinental by Louis Moinet” plays on the contrast of a black plate and a rose-gold-coloured dial with a high copper content. While frosted decoration is a watchmaking classic, this particular finish is of an entirely different order. To produce such dense frosting, a micro structure was developed using laser technology. The individual number of each watch is engraved at 12 o’clock, on an 18-carat “Golden Spike” head, framed by the date – 1869.
Innovative technical solutions were devised to create an unprecedented case shape. Everything is arranged around two stylised, openwork bridges. These span the watch, securing the strap at either end of their lugs. The bridges hold the movement’s container – and the precious mechanical mechanism it houses – in place. Last but by no means least, the signature six-screw bezel, a hallmark of the Louis Moinet style, adds a distinctive touch to the piece.
The alligator strap, meanwhile, comes with a folding clasp decorated with another historic Louis Moinet symbol: the Fleur de Lys.
The box features an original design illustrating the 150th anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad, with the inside done out to resemble the piping of a steam locomotive. A medal commemorates the event; at its centre sits a newly-fashioned crampon made from a genuine American rail spike dating back to the nineteenth century.
Transcontinental by Louis Moinet will be available in autumn 2019 in two exclusive limited editions. To commemorate the 1869 achievement, just 18 watches will be available in 18-carat rose gold; and just 69 more will be available in steel and 18-carat rose gold.

  About Louis Moinet
Ateliers Louis Moinet was founded in Saint-Blaise, Neuchâtel, in 2004. The fully-independent firm was established to honour the memory of Louis Moinet (1768-1853): master watchmaker, inventor of the chronograph in 1816 (certified by Guinness World RecordsTM), and pioneer in the use of very high frequencies (216,000 vibrations per hour). Louis Moinet was a watchmaker, scholar, painter, sculptor, and teacher at the School of Fine Arts – as well as the author of the Traité d’Horlogerie, a watchmaking treatise published in 1848 that remained a definitive work of reference for a century. Today, Ateliers Louis Moinet is perpetuating this legacy. The firm’s timepieces, produced in limited editions only, have won some of the most coveted honours, including a UNESCO Award of Merit, five Red Dot Design awards (including one Best of the Best award), gold and bronze medals in the Chronometry Competition, eight Good Design awards, three Middle East Watch of the Year awards, two Robb Report “Best of the Best” awards, a German Design award, a Moscow Grand Prix award, and a “Chronograph of the year” distinction from Begin Magazine, Japan. Louis Moinet creations often make use of unusual materials, such as fossils and meteorites, combined with bespoke fine watchmaking complications in a unique creative approach. The brand’s core values are creativity, exclusivity, art and design.
