In the midst of being very, very, very, very, very busy with work, a colleague sent me info about the KnY Onsen collab going on at two onsen towns in Kanagawa and Gunma Prefectures, both in eastern Japan.
My response was, "yeah, too bad I don’t live out there... and will only be out there for a meeting later in December... ... ...I just booked a place for two people in Yugawara Onsen, you wanna go?"
While it's always fun to go to these sorts of collab events, I admit that I found this one somewhat stressful due to total lack of planning on my part. I was just like, "Onsen! Make these deadlines, prep that meeting, then onsen, onsen, Kimetsu no Yaiba and onsen!!!" and I totally neglected to read all the fine print on how this event works.
How it should had worked is you arrive early enough to head out to the onsen part of town, turn in your pre-purchased ticket at the center with all the merchandise (and if you're lucky, you'll see a Kakushi working the counter ☆), get your booklet to stamp with different character stamps set up around town, and get the all-important map of where all the photo spots, stamps, and spots to hear character voices on an an app for a game you can play for an extra price (and additional pre-purchase ticket). At this point, they will also explain the hours of when you can use the local facilities involved in the collaboration. With that information, you begin your leisurely stay and stroll, including looping back around the station area to get the stamps and pose with character stands around the station, at the town hall, and in other shops. You get dinner at one of the collab places--like a local America-themed restaurant's spare rib set with sauces inspired by four of the characters or a seafood restaurant--and then show at least three character stamps in your booklet and hand over one of your two coins to go take a dip in one of the onsen facilities. After dark, you walk around and enjoy displays like this Love Breath one:
The following day, or later on in the collab period, you finish up going around to every spot, and take a second dip in another onsen, which is also covered on your original ticket. If you're doing the additional game, you listen at all those spots, and of course you buy lots of merch both for the collab and around the onsen town.
But if you are like me, you do it wrong.
You arrive later than you hoped to, you get excited to see Mitsuri and Muichiro at the train station, feel stressed about saving time for onsen and wind up do a bunch of things out of order that wind up eating time, including trying to go straight to an onsen instead of turning in the ticket first, and then discovering that you simply do not have time for everything once you see that the generous hours were for turning in your ticket, not for using the onsen. I also had dismissed the stamp rally as optional like the audio game I did not want to pay the price for, so it did not even occur to me that I would need three stamps before an onsen, and how hard it would be to find those stamps in the dark when you are fretting more and more about time.
In the end, we only (barely) had time for one onsen instead of two, which is frustrating, and even though they had stands of all the characters, we simply did not have time to see them all. (Himejima was off in the woods somewhere with no stamps or audio game things, so like we did, I bet a lot of people choose to simply leave him alone to meditate and train out there.) I saw the stand I wanted to most: Genya!! He gets to be included now!!!!
We did find the place with parfaits (thanks to asking the Kakushi, as the official websites weren't much help with this (but reading all the fine print probably would have helped overall)), and we sacrificed the second onsen dip to get these instead before leaving town. In addition to dessert items (like a Mist Pillar parfait with cotton candy mist on top!), they also served the yamakake udon and made a nice presentation of floating items down a river to your seat.
So anyway. Not my most lived-to-the-fullest KnY collab, nor a very relaxing onsen trip overall, but it always brings a smile to my face to see KnY melded into the landscape. The steep hike up to our cheap lodging and dragging suitcases around to at least find a few extra standees was pretty tiring, but the mountain view of the stars and morning birdwatching was as rejuvenating as a regular mountain onsen trip usually should be. That all being said, I plan to recover with regular bath salt at home and the newest volume of Kimetsu Academy.

Yugawara is a small coastal town on the eastern coast of the Ashigarashimo District, Kanagawa Prefecture in central Japan. The town is most famous for its hot-spring onsen resorts.
This shot was taken at the summit of Jukkoku-Toge Pass, where can view Suruga Bay to the west and Sagami Bay to the east. Distant lights are from the shores of Tokyo and Chiba Prefecture on the opposite side of Tokyo Bay.

Hi Riku, I have a question for you. What would you choose between a short 7-8 days but comfortable trip (nice food nice hotel) to Japan (you'll get to go to only a 3-4 cities if you choose this plan due to the trip length) or a longer but more inconvenient trip (stay in hostel, eats McDonald's everyday etc.) the perks of this is that you'll get a 7 days JR pass and you can go anywhere you want (with the longer trip a bit more expensive). It's a bit dumb but thanks for your answer XD
Hey Anon,
without one shred of a doubt I choose the long stay and the JR Railpass. ^^
Seriously, I want to see Japan, you’re gonna need more than 7-8 days. That’s barely enough to see two cities! To thoroughly explore Tokyo, you’re probably going to need that amount of days already. If I’m going to Japan and want to explore multiple places, I need at least 3 weeks, preferably more.
Then, I have been in fancy Japanese hotels (Prince Hotel in Kamakura, XIV Yugawara palace in Yugawara, Shima Onsen in Nakanojo) and never have I felt like I really belonged. As a foreigner, I already stand out in Japan. As a casually dressed foreigner in a fancy hotel, I stick out like a sore thumb! I’m very content sleeping in a Japanese hostel. Put me in a(n all girls) dorm room, I don’t care! Give me a futon to sleep on and I’ll be happy! I’ve stayed at Guest House Rakuza in Kyoto twice now and I’ve absolutely loved it! I’ve stayed at plenty of other budget places and I never regretted it. In the end, when I’m in Japan, I’m there to explore. That means I won’t be sitting around my hotel. Any niceties are wasted on me.
Talking of food, Japanese cuisine includes a lot of fish. If there’s one food I hate, it’s fish. I would actually be pretty content eating at McDonald’s every day. That teriyaki burger is good! In Japan I usually end up eating at the “fast food” joints anyway, like Matsuya, Sukiya, Yoshinoya, Nakao... or family restaurants, like Saizeriya, Cafe Restaurant Gusto... The food these places serve probably isn’t the best, but I absolutely don’t hate eating any of it. I think the “fanciest” food I usually consume on a regular basis is Coco-Ichi Curry. Their curry is amazing! I don’t mind the convenience store food either. I’m a big fan of Seven-Eleven’s hamburger doria. The best is still though, if you can cook your own food. I absolutely loved staying at a friend’s place and being able to prepare food I don’t usually eat at home, because it’s not available here.
Now, I rest my case. I hope you enjoyed this answer. ^^
If anyone else has (totally) random questions, feel free to ask! I’m always up to answering!

AKEBI-chan's sailor uniform Location and Holy Land - anime pilgrimage! [ANIME Review]
from the official twitter of animation director
AKEBI-chan's Sailor Uniform
The original comic is a very popular work that has sold more than 600,000 copies as of September 2021.
You can read all episodes for free now (Yanjan-Official till 2022 1/21 & Japanese language only though)
There are many attractive characters in this work, but the charm of this work lies not only in the characters but also in the stage.
In this article, I'll be looking into the setting, location, and holy land of "AKEBI-chan's Sailor uniform". I've looked into the locations and holy places!

AKEBI-chan's Sailor Uniform and related articles
AKEBI-chan's Sailor Uniform - Where is it set?
The setting of "AKEBI-chan's Sailor Uniform" is a prestigious girls' school in the countryside called "Shiritsu Roubaigakuen"『私立蠟梅学園』(しりつろうばいがくえん).
A first year junior high school girl, Akebi Komichi, meets many friends at this private school.
This is the main setting of the story, but there is a model school in this school.
AKEBI-chan's Sailor Uniform, Location, and Holy Land
The places and settings in this work are fictional.
I'd like to introduce some of the places that are actually models.
Hino City 日野市
AKEBI's Sailor Uniform" is set in Hino City, a city located in the southern part of the Tama region of Tokyo(東京都).
The city of Hino is the model for the story.
The city is also mentioned in the comic as a source of information.
However, the place where AKEBI-chan lives in the comic is more rural.
In the original story, she travels to Tokyo by bullet train.
The place where she lives is probably modeled on a more rural area.
It's just a guess, but it may be modeled on Karuizawa Station to Karuizawa, which was also in the manga.
I Ai Girls' High School 遺愛女子中学校・高等学校
The school Akebi-chan goes to, which I mentioned earlier as a stage, is modeled after the private Roubai Gakuen.
The model for the school Akebi goes to is "Iai Girls' High School" located in Suginami-cho, Hakodate City, Hokkaido.
The school actually has a sailor uniform, which is the main axis of the story.
The summer uniform is a white sailor Uniform with a navy blue pleated skirt.
The winter uniform seems to be navy blue.
This school has been used as a location for many movies.
P and JK - Released in 2017. Co-starring Kazuya Kamenashi and Taho Tsuchiya, the movie is about a serious romance between a police officer and a high school girl.
Filmed as Otoo High School, which the main character, a high school girl, attends. It was reported that "the retro school building of Iai High School matched the world view of the film and gave it a fantastic finish.
When You Wish Upon a Star. - Released in 2003. It is a movie set in Hakodate starring Yuko Takeuchi. It seems to have been filmed in the main building of the relic and the old missionary building, as well as the hospital in the play.
Pakodatejin - Released in 2002. Film set in Hakodate, starring Aoi Miyazaki and also starring Ryo Katsuji, Yo Oizumi, Masato Hagiwara, Ken Yasuda and Nao Omori. The main character, played by Aoi Miyazaki, attends a high school called Manasu Gakuen.
Ryokan Kamada
In the film, there is a story about a trip taken by the AKEBI-chan family, which is also modeled on this location.
This is Ryokan Kamada, located in Yugawara-cho, Ashigarashimo-gun, Kanagawa Prefecture.
It is a prestigious onsen ryokan in a hot spring town near the sea, surrounded by a wall and built in the sukiya style, a pure Japanese style.
All rooms are equipped with an indoor hot spring bath with the source of the water flowing through it, and the Japanese-style guest rooms with a view of the garden from one of the windows on the broad veranda have a traditional pure Japanese atmosphere.
They're staying at a great place. lol
Chef Maison Claude Monet
AKEBI-chan's classmate, Usagihara Toko, modeled her family's confectionary store after
Chef Maison Claude Monet,
located in Akishima City, Tokyo, is the model for this shop.
This place also seems to have been used as a location for episode 9 of the drama "Toshita Kareshi (yonger boyfriend)".
Summary
In this article, we have summarized the setting, locations, and holy places of AKEBI-chan's Sailor uniform.
Might as well take a look at the backgrounds and scenery, not just the cute characters!
Thank you for staying until the end!
You might like those items!

DAY 12 YUGAWARA
A bit earlier than expected we left the house to catch a train to Yugawara. Pretty place in Kanagawa that’s probably best described as an Onsen town. They had onsen everywhere! We were staying at one of the very fancy hotels though, with a very fancy onsen too.
Other than the hotel I didn’t get to see too much of the place. We arrived pretty late, so it turned dark pretty quickly after we arrived. We id walk around a bit, but soon we headed back to have dinner at the local Yakiniku place and the rest of the evening I mostly hang around the onsen. After that it was already bed time.

Travel Blog #10: Travelling Alone
Some behind the scenes information while I work on the next blog post.
The last few days have by far been the best of my trip. A lot of people ask me how it is travelling alone. Is it fun? Lonely? Scary? Yes to all. It’s unlikely you’ll be able to find friends who will 1) want to travel to all the destinations on your list and 2) have all the same interests as you when it comes to those destinations. Travelling with people can be fun, but there’s often lots of…
