PoliZ's WIP Update - 3 Apr 2024

Getting back to what I’d like to consider an average writing week, with most of my effort was focused on a single work. I touched 4 fics (1 new work & 3 WIPs) for a total of 2330 words.

On Ao3, I posted:

I’m juggling 17 😬 active/semi-active WIPs with my current deadline being the Post July Break Bingo, which ends in April, and the Alpha Bucky April event.

See below cut for what I’m working on/planning to work on - arranged more or less by bingos/challenges/etc. As always, feel free to send me prompts or plot bunnies as well as asks regarding any of these projects or any other WIPs I’ve got out there. Interaction really helps feed the Muse and keep me motivated!

Two fill on my 2x3 non-fandom-specific card - still working on potential crossovers.

* A2 - "You knew?" - matched this up with Chapter Three of my Stony spyfic WIP - Keeping All My Secrets Safe Tonight - it’s coming in at 1079 words and after a bit more editing, should be posting this Friday.

* B2 - Character’s personality is split into two different beings – I’ve never played with Bucky & the Soldier being two different people, but this seems like the perfect opportunity! Will see what might be a good crossover on one of my open cards.

* C1 - Touch Starved – another good fit for a Bucky-centric fic. (Steve or Tony or Clint).

* C2 - “What are we?” Pair up with SRB C5 - Exes to Lovers ?

Alpha Bucky April - [BBE_ABA] - (Ends 30 April)

@buckybarnesevents is running another fun event to encourage fanworks featuring Alpha!Bucky - any pairing in terms of characters and/or alignments. Since I already have a couple of Alpha!Bucky WIPs, am using this as a good reason to get some work in on them. There’s also additional challenges that I plan to take on:

* Breeding Kink/Baby Fever - mpreg is a pretty major squick for me, but I think I might be able to make it work in combination with an April BaBB prompt (roleplay) for what looks to be Chapter Three of A Bit Carried Away.

* Nesting - This will fit pretty well into the next chapter of A Sugar-Coated Pill - where Bucky comforts Tony after the bad news he’s gotten and helps him plan what to do next. It’s currently sitting at 177 words and will crossfill with my WIB Couch Cuddles square nicely.

* Purring/Affection - This could (and quite possibly will) fit into either/both of the above fics, tbh.

* Beta Character - My BBC4 fic (see below) features beta!Tony, and aroace Natasha will be making an appearance in Chapter Two of A Bit Carried Away, which is in draft form at 1219 words and will probably post on the 19th.

* Double Minimum Req - 1500 words for a chapter seems pretty do-able - targeting my BBC4 fic (or at least its first chapter) to fill this challenge

Bucky Barnes Connect Four - Alt Jun-iverse [BBC4_R2] {Ends May 31 2024}

Another fun event from the good folks over at @buckybarnesevents! You sign up for a single row card of four squares and the challenge is to see if you can combine any/all into a single Bucky-centric AU fanwork - although you can also create fanworks that are based on a single or combo of 2-3 squares if you want.

The combo of prompts on my first card [Reality Show, Omegaverse, Talent/Manager, Royalty] sparked an idea: Alpha!Bucky as a prince in name only who gets talked into joining a reality show that is supposed to match him up with an omega… but there’s a twist! Picked this back up and it’s sitting at 766 words so far. Thinking the Alpha Bucky April event will be a good excuse to get at least a first chapter of this out there!

Steve Rogers Bingo - Round 3 [SRB_R3] (ends 15 Jun 2024)

Fourteen fills and no WIPs at the moment - need to ponder other possible crossovers with my non-fandom cards & BaBB.

* C5 - Exes to Lovers see JBB “What are we?” above

* E5 - Oversensitivity/Enhanced Senses - paired this up with last week’s Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF246 Pinprick] for Amplification. A Steve POV ficlet where he reflects on the effects of Project Rebirth, it came in at 334 words and will post to Ao3 before the event is over.

Hawkeyes Bingo [HB_R2] {Ends TBD}

Working on this Tumblr event - got a 3x3 card and and am looking forward to creating more Clint-centric content and trying my hand at a bit of Kate Bishop fic as well!

*A1 - Werewolf AU - Posted Shooting for the Moon on Ao3 this morning - Werewolf!Bucky’s POV on the second half of A Hairy Situation. It came in at 786 words.

* A3 - Awkward Flirting – this might be a good entry into my first femslash fic with Kate/Yelena?

C3 - "I've never been so humiliated in my life." - filled this on Tumblr last Friday with A Shining Example. Established WinterHawk where a training session goes embarrassingly wrong and Clint gives Bucky a pep talk. It crossed over with the Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF243 Glitter and Blues] and will get posted on Ao3 before this event ends.

Build-A-Bucky Bingo [BaBB_R1] {Ends Oct 2024}

Another fun year-long event from the folks at @buckybarnesevents! Each month there’s a list of prompts and you choose (at least) one each month for your card!

* April: Roleplay - will be filling this with Chapter Three of A Little Bit Carried Away where Bucky will be playing a role to save Tony from some obnoxious alphas at a reception; potential crossfill with WIB A/B/O: Mates and Alpha Bucky April Breeding Kink prompts…

The time has come!

The collection has been opened up and all of the fics we have received are now available to be read... except no one knows who wrote what!

Here’s the full list of all the remixes that were created for this year’s Winterhawk Remix in alphabetical order. There are 18 fics in total, so that should keep you all going for a while, and maybe you’ll rediscover some old favourites when you see what has been remixed!

Note that, while we’ve included ratings, to conserve space, we have not included tags, so make sure you check them out when you click through! Fic responsibly, folks.

Bucky was smoking hot, after all. Clint just really hopes he doesn't get mad when he finds out that Clint's been telling everyone he's Bucky boyfriend. Bottom of the Sea (just don’t go without me remix) (Rating: Teen) A remix of @verdantmoth’s bottom of the sea It was on his way out that he saw it. It looked pretty innocuous, like a bedroll or someone's discarded coat, but he knew it as soon as he saw it. His mom's had looked the same way, too long unworn and faded around the edges, but still silky smooth and beautiful in the right light. Clint limped over and grabbed the skin, draping it over his arms as best he could, trying not to touch it too much with his hands and the crusted-in blood under his fingernails. By Faith Alone (Rating: Teen) A remix of @badacts’ sola fide Bucky's daemon knows full well what he wants, but it's going to take a while for his head to get onboard with his heart.

Fractured, a Splintered Remix (Rating: Explicit) A remix of @flawedamythyst’s Splintered Clint touches something mystical at Dr. Strange's place and next thing Bucky knows, there are four extra Clints running around. He takes it upon himself to gather them up and help them come to some important realizations about the world. You know. Sexually. I dreamed I held you in my arms (Rating: Teen) A remix of @fadedsepia’s Like Sunshine He’s just about managed to focus on the mission, mentally reviewing the details of the target, when Clint strolls out of the bathroom, long and lean and — “You’re wearing that?” James finds himself saying. Clint stops short as he loops the purple aid around his ear and presses the earmold in, sky-blue eyes wide and startled. “Yeah? Why — is there something wrong with it?” James can’t help himself, his eyes wandering the slow course from head to toe. The dress shirt is mustard-yellow, linen so fine that it’s practically transparent. The collar is unbuttoned almost midway, showing the sharp jut of Clint’s collarbone and a slice of freckled chest below. The residual steam from the shower is already making the fabric cling to Clint’s incredible musculature. I Still Choose You (The Public Domain Remix) (Rating: Teen) A remix of @1000-directions’ i don’t have a choice (but i still choose you) Clint really didn't intend to do anything more than make a joke, but when his stupid 'soulmate' comment gets posted on social media, he ends up in a fake relationship with the one person he wishes really were his soulmate. Just Being Neighbourly (The Remix) (Rating: Teen) A remix of @mariana-oconnor’s Just Being Neighbourly Bucky can’t remember the last time he worked this hard to get somebody’s attention. He lowered the beaters into the mixing bowl with the speed setting turned up a little too fast, making his batter fling up in tiny flecks. “Jesus, again? What are you baking for now?” “Shut up, Stevie, and hand me the vanilla, damn it.” Make You Feel At Ease (Rating: General) A remix of @tintedglasses’ tell you truth, but never goodbye Just because it was Memorial Day and things in the past had definitely not been as kind to Bucky as they should have been didn’t mean that Steve needed to worry. But he also knew that man deserved a whole lot more good than that world had decided to give him. He can’t feel the lines on his skin, doesn’t know they’re there until he spots them. (Sometimes he thinks that’s a bit of a fluke on fate's part. What happens if ya miss ‘em? Or ya can’t see ‘em? Maybe fate knows though, which ones are meant to be seen.) safe and sound (finally safe remix) (Rating: Teen) A remix of @loonyloopylisa’s Finally Safe “I’m so sorry,” Clint says and it feels inadequate, but he doesn’t know what else to say. He thought he had a rough time waking up in that HYDRA cell, but at least he woke up somewhere else. It’s also conveniently located across the street from a small park with several old, heavily-in-leaf trees with an excellent vantage of his windows. Clint, settled high in the canopy in the vee between two sturdy branches, watches a weary, limping Cap arrive fresh from the hospital through binoculars. It’s embarrassing that this is what his life has come to. take a snapshot (dirty laundry remix) (Rating: Explicit) A remix of @thescarletwitch’s Take a Snapshot (If It Makes You Feel More At Home) You know this is basically soft porn, right?” Clint murmurs with a sly grin, cupping his own dick through his pants before shaking his head and laughing. Clint, like Clint Barton. Like the Avenger. Fuckin’ Hawkeye, for fuck’s sake. The not-so-secret love of Bucky’s very gay life. “Nothing soft about it,” Bucky mutters to himself. A slow writing week, but I managed to pass my stretch goal of writing 120k for the year a week early! ! I touched 5 fics (2 new works & 3 WIPs) for a total of 1198 words.

Seek & Destroy Collab

After reading @psychiccatpanda‘s amazing Morguna and the Green Queen, I got the itch to explore the Soldier’s POV and talked Faustie into collab’ing with me! We’re working on a new part of the series, and I’ve contributed about 900 words towards the 2500-ish we have so far. Going to see if I can squeeze any of my BBB squares into this fic.

Stucky’Verse Bingo Round 1 - [SVB_R1] (Ends 22 29 Dec)

Seventeen fills, three WIPs and a couple of ideas. Have one bingo & am shooting for hopefully one more bingo with the fics listed below - thanks to the mods extending the deadline by a week!

* A1 - Harem - Posted Newcomer to the Seraglio this morning - it’s a crossover with CABB Secret/Forbidden Relationship where Bucky and shrimpy!Steve are both concubines who are more interested in each other than their lord. It came in at 374 words.

* B2- Pets - wrote up a surprise fill – Reluctant Four Footed Heroes – inspired by a round of square interpretation during the BBB Discord party. Stucky domestic shenanigans with Alpine & Dodger. This ficlet is coming in at 217 words and will post on the 27th.

* A4 - Fairy Tale Curse - this seems custom-made for a continuation of Beyond the Beast😁 Nothing written yet, other than some Vague Ideas. It’s fighting me at the moment and am not sure this is going to make it after all.

* C2 - Meet Ugly - Finished up Deck the Halls - a No Powers AU holiday fic that crosses over with my Winter Break Advent calendar prompt Day 1: Putting Up Holiday Decorations at the Hospital. It’s coming in at 509 words and it will post on Friday.

* C3 - FREE - Filled this with Chapter 2 of Half of the Flesh and Blood That Makes Me Whole - a Bucky POV remix of at least the first part of Take What Was Wrong (And Make it Right). It came in at 1362 words.

Bucky Barnes Bingo - [BBB_R5] (Ends 10 Jan 2024)

I’ve got twenty fills, four bingos, two WIPs, and a couple more Vague ideas. Aiming for a blackout - we’ll see how close I get!

* U3 - Fireplace - got inspired with a new idea to write Making Room - a soft WinterPepperony + Morgan holiday ficlet. It came in at 253 words and will post on Friday.

* C2 - Yelena Belova– The plan is to use this prompt in the next chapter of Peresmešnik, (aka Three Avengers and a Baby), which is I poked at a little this week and is currently sitting at 1551 words (800-ish of which are mine).

* C5 - Marriage of Convenience/Pretend Couple - next chapter of Lady Natasha’s Consort and Lord Steve’s Companion. Got a spark of an idea the other day that might get me a bit further on this fic.

* K3 - Magic - Aro!Bucky healing with a kiss idea?

* Y4 - Forgotten Things - see SVB FREE above

* May Adopted - Insomnia - finally got this filled with The Dead of Night, which also filled a Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF211 An Old Friend] along with my JBB FREE square. It came in at 317 words and will post to Ao3 before this event ends.

* August Adopted: Take the Shot - sounds like a WinterHawk fic to me… maybe cross over with JBB Touch-starved?

Tony Stark Bingo Round 7 - [TSB_R7] (ends 15 Feb)

Twenty fills and zero WIPs as of the moment, with a couple of ideas in play.

* S1 - Galaxy - possibly use in final chapter of Never More to Go Astray ?

* T2 - KINK: Cock-blocking 'bots - I still want to combine this with the Fictober Day 27: prompt "I don't know if they will accept this."

* T5 - Shawarma - possible crossover with SAUB Canon Divergence – Battle of New York-related?

* A2 - KINK: Concubine - possible crossover with SAUB Gentle Dom and SRB Multiple Submissives. I’ve got a fairly fleshed out (so to speak) story in mind (Dom!Tony/sub!Steve/sub!Bucky) - just need to get it on paper.

* A3 - FREE – @SomeSortofItalianRoast and I are looking at collabing on a Steve/Tony/Scott fic - maybe throw in a Comfortember prompt?

* R5 - Doppelganger/Evil Twins - The Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF214 Broken Mirror] got me at least a good start on the idea I’ve been playing with for this square. I posted NamNori on Tumblr and have a general idea of how I want to build on it to also fill my SAUB AU: Crack square. It’s currently sitting at 360 words.

PoliZ's WIP Update - 27 Sep 2023

A decent word count for the week - I touched 4 fics (1 WIPs & 3 new works) for a total of 1886 words.

All Caps Bingo [ACB_R1] (Ends 30 Sep)

I’ve got 28 completed squares (counting unclaimed adoptables), so I made my blackout! I have one fic to post on Friday - am working on my fill submissions in the meanwhile and will have a masterpost put together sometime next week.

* N3 - FREE – Posted the last chapter of Technicalities on Friday - where Steve and Bucky finish off their sexytimes. This chapter came in at 1512 words.

* G3 - Established Relationship - Ended up writing a quick Stucky drabble - Two Little Words, which posted this morning and came in at 100 words..

* Sept Adoptable: Dominant Omega - This is of course a perfect match for the next/final chapter of Finding Something Fresh where omega!Dom!Steve and beta!sub!Bucky complete their scene. It's drafted at 919 words and will post on Friday.

Sam Wilson Bingo [SWB_R3] (Ends 15 Oct 2023)

I have six fills and one WIP - I need to work on cross fills between this and the Bucky Barnes and Captain Bottom bingo - hoping to manage a bingo in the next two weeks.

* B4 - Natasha Romanoff - Maybe add on to my Card Sharks drabble, where SamNat & Steve conspire to create a polycule with Bucky? this idea crosses over nicely with my BBB KINK: Seduction mission square

* N5 - James Rhodes - filled with Braking Their Fall - see ACB Pararescue Sam Wilson above.

* G3 - Joaquin Torres - possible expansion of A Rising Star

* G5 - Wilson Family Dynamics - filled this with As Night Falls, a TFaWS canon-compliant Sam & Bucky ficlet set in Delacroix. It came in at 368 words.

Halloween Horror Bingo - [HHB_23] (Ends 31 Oct 2023)

Just signed up for this event, hosted by @halloweenhorrorbingo. After picking three horror films, you get a 3x3 card (with 3 alternates) with prompts based on those films.

ALT1 - There's something under the bed - I have a fun WInterHawk Werewolf Au idea for this one - 388 words in so far and may cross over with my BBB Accidental Villainy square.

WinterIron Bingo - [WIB_R1] (Ends 16 Dec 2023)

I have sixteen fills completed and two WIPs for this brand-new bingo event that I’m helping mod! Along with crossfilling against my other bingos, I’m going to try to combine my B column squares for the Iron Soldier badge (complete a bingo with a single work). – Alpha Tony Stark, “That was not my intention.”, James Rhodes, Alpine loves Tony and Blind date. (Tony POV remix of A Sugar Coated Pill?)

* N1 - Bucharest – I think I can fold this into a future chapter of My Love is Vengeance - where a young!Tony and a recovering!Bucky have been kidnapped by Hydra, who still thinks Bucky is the Soldier.

* G2 - Eye contact during sex - This will come into play in Chapter 6 of A Sugar-Coated Pill, where Bucky figures out what making love really means, with Tony’s help. It’s crossing over with BBB KINK: Gentle Sex and is up to 503 words.

* G4 - AU: College Students – looking to expand Beaten to the Punch with some backstory on Bucky and Tony as science camp counselors to fit with this square - will also cross over with my WFB Volunteering Together square.

* O5 - Gentle – use this poem as inspiration?

Stucky’Verse Bingo Round 1 - [SVB_R1] (Ends 22 Dec)

Eleven fills, two WIPs and a couple of ideas.

* A1 - Harem - crossover with CABB Secret/Forbidden Relationship - Bucky and shrimpy!Steve are both concubines - they love each other more than their lord. I poked at this a little last week and have 71 words.

* A4 - Fairy Tale Curse - this seems custom-made for a continuation of Beyond the Beast😁 Nothing written yet, other than some Vague Ideas.

* C3 - FREE - Need to find a good match for Chapter 2 of Half of the Flesh and Blood That Makes Me Whole - a Bucky POV remix of at least the first part of Take What Was Wrong (And Make it Right), which is current sitting at 52 words. I’m expecting at least one more chapter, possibly two, depending on how far I want to take the remix. This could also slot into D2 - Sleep Deprivation or C5 - Last Resort

Bucky Barnes Bingo - [BBB_R5] (Ends 10 Jan 2024)

I’ve got eleven fills, four WIPs, and a couple more Vague ideas.

B2 - KINK: Seduction Mission - might add a new chapter to Card Sharks - where Sam/Natasha and Steve finish what they started to get Bucky onboard for a poly partnership.

U1 - Never the fall that kills you - I’ve got a WinterIron hanahaki fic idea for this that I might play with.

U3 - Fireplace - Working on a 1980′s No Powers WinterIron fic set at a ski lodge where Tony’s being wooed by poetry and love letters that Bucky wrote to someone else. Started poking at this as a crossover with a Love Letters prompt and it’s sitting at 129 words.

C2 - Yelena Belova– The plan is to use this prompt in the next chapter of Peresmešnik, (aka Three Avengers and a Baby), which is currently sitting at 1303 words (600-ish of which are mine).

C5 - Marriage of Convenience/Pretend Couple - next chapter of Lady Natasha’s Consort and Lord Steve’s Companion. Got a spark of an idea the other day that might get me a bit further on this fic.

K3 - Magic - Aro!Bucky healing with a kiss idea?

Y1 - Gentle Sex – In-progress Chapter 6 of Sugar-Coated Pill- see WIB Eye Contact During Sex.

Y3 - Alpine - see WIB Iron Soldier combo.

Y4 - Forgotten Things - using this for Chapter 4 of You Can’t Stop It With a Gun - it’s sitting at 116 words at the moment.

May Adopted - Insomnia - finally got this filled with The Dead of Night, which also filled a Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF211 An Old Friend] along with my JBB FREE square. It came in at 317 words and will post to Ao3 before this event ends.

August Adoptable: Take the Shot - sounds like a WinterHawk fic to me… maybe cross over with JBB Touch-starved?

Tony Stark Bingo Round 7 - [TSB_R7] (ends 15 Feb)

Ten fills and zero WIPs, with a couple of ideas in play.

* S1 - Galaxy - possibly use in final chapter of Never More to Go Astray ?

* T5 - Shawarma - possible crossover with SAUB Canon Divergence – Battle of New York-related?

* A2 - KINK: Concubine - possible crossover with SAUB Gentle Dom

* R1 - Animal Transformation - DemonPanda shared a fun prompt on the WIB server - Tony as a short-haired werewolf who needs to cuddle his pack members for warmth.

Stony AUniverse Bingo [SAUB_R1] (ends 15 Feb)

Another brand-new bingo I’m helping co-mod! Six fills, three WIPs and several crossover ideas already!

* S1 - Edging - Filled this with Ringing in the New, where Tony makes a suggestion to improve/change up their love life. It's a crossover with a Flash Fiction Friday prompt: How Do You Use ‘It’? and came in at 324 words - I will post it to Ao3 before the event is over.

* S2 - AU: Crack - see TSB Doppelganger/Evil Twins

* S3 - AU: Wings - see SVB FREE square

* S5 - Accidental Baby Acquisition - see BBB Yelena Belova

Captain (America) Bottom Bingo - Round 2 [CABB] (ends 28 Feb 2024)

I signed up for a 3x3 card for this bingo and have four fills, one WIPs and a couple of crossover ideas.

* A2 - Secret/Forbidden Relationship - see SVB Harem

* B3 - Royal Knight - see SAUB Mutual Pining.

Post July Break Bingo [JBB_23p] (Ends Apr 2024)

@julybreakbingo is running another event to tide participants over with a 2x3 non-fandom-specific card - I got mine earlier this week and am checking it over for potential crossovers.

A1 - “It’s you. It’s always been you.” - This might fit in with my TSB Doppelgangers/Evil Twins fill NamNori above :: ponders::

B2 - Character’s personality is split into two different beings – I’ve never played with Bucky & the Soldier being two different people, but this seems like the perfect opportunity! Will see what might be a good crossover on BBB or WIB (or even SVB)

C1 - Touch Starved – another good fit for a Bucky-centric fic. (Steve or Tony or Clint) possibly crossover with BBB Take the shot?

Warm and Fluffy Bingo - [WFB] (no end date)

I got my card from @warmandfluffybingocards back in February but really hadn’t done much with it - however, I’m picking it back up for some crossover possibilities!

PoliZ’s Bucky Barnes Bingo Masterpost

With less than a week before the deadline, I’m calling it -- here’s my @buckybarnesbingo masterpost. :^)

I filled 21 squares (w00t!) for a total of 46,062 words and made 4 separate bingos. I wrote eight WinterIron fics (3 platonic), two WinterHawk, one Stucky, one 1 Bucky/OFC (fem!Howard) and one General/no pairings fic. Three were Explicit, seven were Teen and three were General ratings.

Quite a few of the squares were crossovers with other events, including the @tonystarkbingo, @winterhawk-week and @winterhawkbingo and @fictober-event. Thanks to all the hardworking mods who host events like this to encourage more fandom content - I’ve definitely written quite a bit more than I would have otherwise.

Tony Stark's soulmate died when they were both young; or so he thought. When a ghostly heartbeat continues to haunt him, Tony's AI proposes an unlikely hypothesis. (U2 - Tony Stark/Iron Man, C5 - Jailbreak)

Dueling Disguises (WinterIron, Teen, 1460 word one-shot, possible TBC)

Junior SHIELD analyst James "Bucky" Barnes is in way over his head, impersonating a deadly mercenary in order to get evidence that Obadiah Stane is behind the contract to kill his boss, Tony Stark. In the middle of the mission, Bucky goes to a club to blow off some steam and meets a man with an uncanny resemblance to the billionaire genius. (Y1: Kink - Role Playing)

Forging the Shield (Remix) (Stucky, Explicit, 6617 words 3/3 chapters)

Bucky didn’t know when or how he’d fallen in love with his best friend, but he was almost certain it was before this whole mess with him presenting as omega. Staying with Steve and his ma as he was going into a heat wasn’t exactly his choice, but it might just work out after all. (C2 - WinterShield & C4 - First Time)

At the end of the school year carnival, Bucky’s crush has the best idea: taking on the rigged midway games. (Y3: Rifle)

In the Best Way (WinterHawk, Explicit, 2647 word one-shot)

After a long mission, Bucky does his best to be good for Clint. (C1 - Praise Kink)

It Would Sure Do Me Good (to Do You Good) (platonic WinterIron, General, 611 word one-shot)
