art by William Samuel Horton (1865–1936)
Mikasa was born into the noble House of Ackerman. One of the most prolific families in the Eastern Eldian Empire's history having produced multiple Empresses who served their husbands and the lands in which they married into with honor.
Accordingly, Emperor Grisha Jaeger II chose her to be the future partner of the empire's crowned prince Eren. It was a union made for political reasons and all of the conveniences that came with it.
Thankfully Eren and Mikasa had a great relationship since before they could even read and write. They were adored by the other nobles cooing over them giving them sweet nicknames although they never felt as embarrassed as they did thrilled by the sweet perception and feelings they elicited in others and each other. As they aged their races and playing turned into long discussions over their future and the empire that they would create together.
When their time had come to take the mantle Mikasa was the perfect Empress.
That was until she came into the picture.

“Welcome Jean Kirstein, Second in line to the Western Eldian Kingdom to Palais Maria Of East Eldia for the annual New Years Celebration!!” The servant's booming voice announced as Jean made his way into the largest palace he had ever seen  with his entourage.
Palacio de la Rosas was just as lovely if not more grand but could not compare to the size of such a castle and where his home had a magical sort of wildness the Eastern Empire showed how their size and manpower could even tame nature with their perfectly manicured grounds.
Connie and Sasha nodded in appreciation of how every inch was well taken care of, not a cobweb in sight.
The local court and settled guests stood about clapping politely as he made his entrance into the halls where hopefully someone would properly give him a tour.
The hall was just as lovely filled with stained class windows and fragrant flowers hanging from the ceiling and displayed in crystal vases that made the light dance into rainbows upon their faces.
At the end of the hall were two figures more grandly dressed than the rest. A tall man with long straight brown hair and piercing eyes the color of the emeralds that adorned his golden crown and stiffly holding onto his arm was the most lovely woman he had ever laid his eyes upon. Whatever she wore was insignificant. But still it flattered her perfectly.
Authors Note:
maybe one day I will actually have the time and inspiration to actually turn this to a longer story.

"HIGHGRADER FINED IN JUDGE'S COURT THIS MORNING," Sault Star. June 13, 1912. Page 1. ---- Had Silver Ore in His Possession Running $6 to the Pound. ---- JOHN HORTON IS GUILTY OF ASSAULT ---- But Still Has Charge of More Serious Nature to Answer. ---- In the District Judge's Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Stone yesterday, John Horton, of Blind River, in custody on charges of indecent assault and carnal knowledge, was found guilty of the former charge and sentence will be pronounced when he appears on the second charge on June 29. The mother of the girl upon whom the offence was committed appeared in court and gave evidence. Solicitor McArthur, of Blind River appeared for the prisoner, and the case for the crown was in charge of Crown Attorney Moses McFadden.
Charged with stealing $11 from Thomas Wilson, Samuel Essler appeared before Judge Stone when the court was resumed this morning, and was discharged. According to the evidence the money alleged to have been stolen comprised one $10 bill and two $1 bills. A ten and a one were found on the prisoner, but Wilson could not identify the bills. Essler's mother appeared in court and was prepared to say that she had given her son $11 on the Sunday prior to the day of the alleged theft. U. McFadden for defendant.
William Lappe and Jacob Ponkeri, the latter of the Sault, and the former of various addresses and aliases appeared in court this morning on a charge of high grading. It will be remembered that the trunks belonging to Lappe were taken in charge by Provincial Constable Connor after their delivery at Ponkeri's house on Murray street and both men were arrested.
Solicitor Rowland appeared for Lappe this morning and entered pleas of not guilty, contending that Lappe had already been convicted on a charge of having the ore in his possession at Cobalt, and could not therefore be charged again for the same offence. It appears that the man purchased a quantity of the ore which is very rich and is said to run from six to seven dollars to the pound. and after disposing of at quantity, of it buried the balance. After serving six months in jail he dug up the bur ied ore and brought it to the Sault, where he was apprehended thru the activity of Constable Connor, as related above. Mr. Rowland held that the ore was a quantity of that involved in the original conviction, and for which Lappe had paid the penalty.
Crown Attorney Moses McFadden submitted that upon conviction all the ore in the case became the possession of the crown, and in digging ---- of theft in taking what was not his. The case was threshed out at some length, and finally after consultation with the crown Mr. Rowland 'withdrew the plea of not guilty and pleaded guilty to the charge. Lappe, who according to information in possession of the crown had been arrested former occasions for similar offences was fined $150 and costs, amounting in all to $250.
Ponkori was discharged, Solicitor U. McFadden, who defended him, submitting that he had no knowledge of the contents of the trunk when taken to his home at the request a Lappe.

HOPKINS TOMB. - Knock If You Dare💀
Samuel Hopkins was born in Cork, Ireland on December 17th 1822. At the young age of 16, he decided to leave his home for the military and headed towards Ontario, Canada where he found himself in Toronto, Ontario.
Hopkins was stationed in Port Maitland when he met his first wife, Joanne Jones. Samuel had a dream to become rich and decided to chase the Gold Rush in California so he took off on foot to chase those dreams.
After 6 months he finally arrived in California, but luck wasn't on his side when he fell ill and had to return back to Ontario in 1851.
He first wound up living in Dunville, Ontario before settling in Port Colborne, Ontario where he became a well known businessman and gained his fortunes.
Mr. Hopkins' wife, Joanne passed away and he remarried Catharine Thomas. Catherine soon after divorced Samuel and took off with a sizable amount of his fortune.
This man was sought after.
Upon my research, I found out there was another woman in town named Arabella Williams, whom was never married and lived her whole life on a property which is now reserved as the Port Colborne Historical and Marine Museum. This woman took Samuel Hopkins to court for $10,000 for Breach of Promise for not marrying her! 😹 They ended settling outside of court for $1,250.
Hopkins died October 12th, 1899.
He is now known to be seen walking the Oakwood Cemetery with his trusty dog companion. His dog has also been seen at times guarding the tomb itself.
Legend has it that, If you enter the masoleum yard and walk around the tomb 7 times, knocking each time you pass his door you will be cursed.
On the other hand, If you only circle 3 times it is said to bring you good luck.
Three teens apparently each met their demise in parculiar ways soon after going to disturb Hopkins Tomb in the 1980s.
If you plan to visit Samuel Hopkins, it is said that around March 21st (Spring Equinox) is when he is the most visible.
The gate is open... Would you go in??👻
