Monday’s Telecast Begins Themed Weeks, Starting With Personal and Emotional “Story of the Song”
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — April 22, 2018 — Three-time Grammy Award-winning multiplatinum band Maroon 5, led by frontman and coach Adam Levine, will perform their new single, “Wait,” from their latest album, “Red Pill Blues,” on the April 24 (8-9 p.m.) live telecast of NBC’s four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series “The Voice.”
In addition, 11 of the Top 12 artists — Sharane Calister, Rayshun LaMarr and Jackie Verna from Team Adam; Britton Buchanan, Christiana Danielle and Jackie Foster from Team Alicia; Pryor Baird, Spensha Baker and Kyla Jade from Team Blake; and Brynn Cartelli, D.R. King and Kaleb Lee from Team Kelly — will learn they are moving on in their quest of winning season 14.
Maroon 5 stands out as not only one of pop music’s most enduring artists, but also one of the 21st century’s biggest acts. To date, the universally renowned Los Angeles band has won three Grammys and become the most successful group in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 with 12 Top 10 entries, registered 20 Top 40 hits (making them the only band to ever do so), sold over 36 million albums, and earned gold and platinum certifications in more than 35 countries.

The band won over fans and critics alike with the hybrid rock/R&B sound they introduced on their debut album, “Songs About Jane,” and their double-platinum album, “It Won't Be Soon Before Long.” Maroon 5 went on to release studio albums “Hands All Over,” which featured the anthemic “Moves Like Jagger,” and “Overexposed.” The band’s fifth studio album, “V,” debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart and featured #1 hit singles “Maps,” “Animals” and “Sugar,” helping to set a record for the most #1’s by a group in the Top 40 chart’s 20-year history, with nine in total. The music video for the album’s Grammy-nominated single “Sugar” has notably logged a record setting 2+ billion views to date.
Maroon 5’s released their sixth studio album, “Red Pill Blues,” in late 2017 via 222/Interscope. The debut single off the album, “What Lovers Do” (feat. SZA), introduced the band’s latest body of work with a proverbial bang, accumulating more than 485 million Spotify streams and 208 million YouTube/VEVO views. The band’s new single is the highly anticipated track “Wait,” which has quickly climbed up the Top 40 and Hot AC radio charts and already clocked over 113 million Spotify streams. The first leg of the band’s world tour will kick off May 30 with special guest Julia Michaels.
On the Monday, April 23 live telecast (8-10 p.m.), “The Voice” will debut special themed weeks, starting with “Story of the Song,” during which artists will reveal the story of what their song means to them — special memories, significant life moments and covering artists who have inspired them.

Another day, another television game show reboot.
Fox has greenlit a revival of “Love Connection,” which will be hosted by Andy Cohen. The show will air in summer 2017 with a 15-episode season
The announcement was made on Wednesday at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, Calif. by Fox Television Group Chairman and CEO Gary Newman.
“The Bachelor” creator Mike Fleiss is executive producer, and Cohen will serve as co-executive producer.
The new one-hour series, based on the original game show that ran from 1983 to 1994, will feature single men and women in search of romance. After the singles are sent on three blind dates, they will dish the dirt in front of a live studio audience, alongside Cohen.
“I was a huge fan of the original ‘Love Connection,’ and hosting the new version allows me to do one of the things I love most: meddling in people’s personal lives,” said Cohen.
Fleiss added: “‘Love Connection’ was always one of my favorite programs. Show creator Eric Lieber was a close friend of mine. He taught me a lot about the relationship show format. The first rule — if the cast is good, just stay out of the way.”
The reboot of “Love Connection” has been kicking around for quite some time with Warner Bros. Television. The series hails from Fleiss’ Next Entertainment, Warner Horizon Television and Telepictures Productions. Other exec producers are Martin Hilton (“The Bachelor”), James Breen (“So You Think You Can Dance” and Jason Ehrlich (“The Bachelor”).
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to bring this incredibly beloved and iconic show to primetime network television. The combination of the insanely talented Andy Cohen and the undisputed king of relationship shows Mike Fleiss is absolute magic…add in the perfect home of FOX…and I think we have a match made in heaven,” said Mike Darnell, president of unscripted and alternative television at Warner Bros.
“Love Connection” is the latest game show reboot to head to TV, following ABC’s “Match Game” with Alec Baldwin, “Celebrity Family Feud” with Steve Harvey and “$100,000 Pyramid” with Michael Strahan. ABC also recently greenlit a reboot of “The Gong Show.”
Also at the TCA press tour, Fox announced that Jamie Foxx will serve as host of the previously-announced new musical game show “Beat Shazam,” which will also air this upcoming summer. Foxx will also serve as executive producer on the series, alongside Mark Burnett, who said: “Jamie is a quadruple-threat and creative genius. He is an incredible actor, comedian, singer and dancer. Also, his musical knowledge is so great that he could probably… beat Shazam.”

BLAKE SHELTON SET TO PERFORM HIT SINGLE ‘I’LL NAME THE DOGS’ ON THE TUESDAY, NOV. 28 LIVE TELECAST OF ‘THE VOICE’
Tumblr media
THE VOICE -- "Live Top 12" Episode 1317A -- Pictured: Blake Shelton -- (Photo by: Trae Patton/NBC)
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — Country music superstar and five-time winning coach Blake Shelton is set to perform his hit single “I’ll Name the Dogs” on the Tuesday, Nov. 28 (8-9 p.m.) live telecast of NBC’s four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series “The Voice.”
Shelton’s single debuted Sept. 8 and quickly rose to the top of the charts, reaching the Top 20 just two weeks after its premiere. It was the #1 trending video on YouTube from the day of release throughout its first weekend, resulting in Shelton’s biggest video launch ever.
“I’ll Name the Dogs” is the lead single off his newest album “Texoma Shore,” a very personal reflection of his love for Oklahoma and country music. “Texoma Shore” debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country Album Chart netting Shelton six consecutive #1 albums. Shelton is wrapping 2017 with numerous awards including Top Country Artist at the Billboard Music Awards in May. Shelton also became the first country artist ever to win the all-genre Favorite Album category at the People’s Choice Awards, along with the title for Favorite Male Country Artist.
“Texoma Shore” brings the five-time consecutive CMA Male Vocalist of the Year full circle as it chronicles the present and finds Shelton reaching back as well. Shelton recorded the project in his home studio on the shores of Lake Texoma, which lies on the Texas-Oklahoma border and is synonymous with much of his Oklahoma boyhood.
Also on the Nov. 28 live telecast of “The Voice,” nine artists will be revealed as safe by America's votes. The bottom two artists will then compete for the Instant Save and one will be eliminated.
“The Voice” is once again reigning this fall as the #1 alternative series in 18-49 and total viewers, averaging a 3.0 rating with its Monday and Tuesday telecasts in the 18-49 demographic and 12.6 million viewers, according to “live plus seven day” ratings from Nielsen Media Research. So far this season, Monday and Tuesday “Voice” original has finished among that week’s top 10 entertainment programs on the broadcast networks in 18-49.
“The Voice” is a presentation of MGM Television, Talpa Media USA Inc. and Warner Horizon Unscripted & Alternative Television. The series was created by John de Mol, who serves as executive producer along with Mark Burnett, Audrey Morrissey, Chad Hines, Amanda Zucker, Kyra Thompson and Stijn Bakkers.

NBC’s The Voice: Season 14 Premiere
Tumblr media
THE VOICE -- Season: 14 --  Pictured: (l-r) Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, Alicia Keys -- (Photo by: Art Streiber/NBC)
The four-time Emmy Award-winning “The Voice” returns with the strongest vocalists from across the country invited to compete in the blockbuster vocal competition show’s new season on February 27.
Superstar singer/songwriter Kelly Clarkson makes her debut as a coach this season with season 12 winning coach and musical icon Alicia Keys taking a red chair alongside the show’s returning coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, and host Carson Daly.
The show’s innovative format features five stages of competition: the first begins with the Blind Auditions, then the Battle Rounds, Knockouts, Playoffs and, finally, the Live Performance Shows.
During the Blind Auditions, the decisions from the musician coaches are based solely on voice and not on looks. The coaches hear the artists perform, but they don’t get to see them — thanks to rotating chairs. If a coach is impressed by the artist’s voice, he/she pushes a button to select the artist for his/her team. At this point, the coach’s chair will swivel so that he/she can face the artist he/she has selected. If more than one coach pushes his/her button, the power then shifts to the artists to choose which coach they want to work with. If no coach pushes his/her button, the artist is eliminated from the competition.
Tumblr media

Once the teams are set, the battle is on. The coaches dedicate themselves to developing their team of artists, giving them advice and sharing the secrets of their success, along with help from their celebrity advisers. During the Battle Rounds, the coaches will pit two of their own team members against each other to sing the same song together in front of a studio audience. After the vocal battle, the coach must choose which of his/her singers will advance to the next round of competition, while the losing artist is available to be stolen by another coach. Each coach has two steals available during the Battle Rounds.
At the end of the Battle Rounds, only the strongest members of each coach’s roster remain and proceed to the Knockout Rounds. Here, the artists will be paired against a teammate once more, but this time they will select their own songs to perform individually while their direct competitor watches and waits. They are vying for their coach’s confidence and decision to take them to the final and crucial round before the live shows, the Playoffs.
One superstar universal adviser will be on hand to work with all of the coaches and their teams as they prepare the artists for this challenge. But the coaches alone will choose the winner and the artist not selected will be available to be stolen by another coach.
Each coach has one steal available during the Knockout Rounds.
In the Playoff Rounds, the top 20 artists will compete to secure a spot in the Live Shows. Artists will perform and the coaches will then select three of their five artists to complete their roster and move on to the final phase of the competition — the Live Shows.
Watch the official season premiere trailer:
youtube
In the final live performance phase of the competition, the top 12 artists will compete each week against each other during a live broadcast. The television audience will vote to save their favorite artists. Three artists with the lowest number of votes will be eligible for the “Instant Save.” These artists will each perform a new song that represents why they should earn the save. America will then have the opportunity to save their favorite performer by tweeting out #VoiceSave along with the artist’s name. The singers with the lowest number of votes will be sent home each week. In the end, one will be named “The Voice” and will receive the grand prize of a recording contract.

The series was created by John de Mol, who serves as executive producer along with John de Mol, Mark Burnett, Audrey Morrissey, Lee Metzger, Chad Hines, Amanda Zucker, Kyra Thompson and Stijn Bakkers.
