no spoilers here yet but just as warning in case you don't want to see any talk about the set production you can blacklist my s5 spoiler tag, i'll tag everything so no worries :) (also applies to any actual future spoilers ofc)

i just care about show production processes and i like having things in one place for organization purposes. so here's a summary of the things that came out over the past few days that are confirmed to be real because i saw some confusion and misinformation about it

1) replica elements of the Hawkins downtown area are being constructed (the tall greyish building is Melvalds so this is basically confirmed to be the ST production and a real leak) link to the source

my bet is they'll either use it for an UD version of downtown or for something that requires massive alterations to the set they can't do to the real location without digital effects. like damage to the buildings, extensive special effects like fire or explosions, and so on

2) they're building military set pieces as well source and source

very curios where those will end up going since they clearly don't belong in the downtown set area and are all on movable platforms. there'll be a military base Somewhere for sure tho

and neither of that is actually really new information, we already saw a military presence in Hawkins by the end of s4 and them rebuilding downtown was something i expected but seeing the process is still cool

also adding here so people don't get their hopes up or base too much of their s5 expectation on it; there's a picture of cut out missing posters going around that seems to be a fake leak. sucks since it's the only photo that would allow for any actual plot speculation but alas

A week ago there was a discussion about cropping stunts from pictures and many larries said that they used to prefer pictures this way but then realized it was like putting head in the sand and so they decided to not ignore it. If it's that important to you, make a sideblog and reblog it there or like it or put it in your drafts. There will always be het blogs that reblog and save the uncropped stunt pictures and most of them are used in tabloid articles. Seeing stunt pictures is infuriating to me. If you didn’t crop stunt pics you'd hardly have pics of Harry to reblog though. So it's important to crop so we can have content.

I don't see the argument that cropping is sticking your head in the sand. It's about enjoying pictures of you idol. As i said, if we didn't crop we'd hardly have any pics of H. It's about curating your fandom experience and eliminating the things that make you angry or drive you mad. Your dash/timeline should be a sanctuary away from stunting and fakeness. You shouldn't be at risk of seeing fellow larries reblogging stunt pictures. If you want to see them you could just open the daily mail. The pics are everywhere. Since they are everywhere, the one place i would expect to avoid them is in the larry fandom. It's a stunt and we fucking hate stunts. So please keep it off our dash.

Hi there, I’m doing great. I hope you are doing fine as well.

I don’t know if I have much advice for making a mental health blog, but I can at least tell you how I like to run mine. Here’s what goes through my mind when considering what to post here on schizodiaries:

I like to reblog relatable posts, memes about mental health, resources, and informative posts about schizophrenia, coping skills, and general mental health topics.

Sometimes I like to use this blog as a journal to document my mental wellness journey. Be cautious about what you share though, make sure none of it is personal or sensitive information that someone could take advantage of (e.g. listing your triggers).

Having a tagging system is nice, I try to tag every post both for organization purposes and in case someone would like a certain topic blacklisted from their dashboard.

I personally try to steer away from drama and discourse, as it can be stressful for some people and myself, but that doesn’t mean I can’t offer my two cents on a topic every now and again.

I like to have a theme with all my blogs. You might have noticed my theme on this blog is the white rabbit. So I’ll occasionally reblog posts pertaining to white rabbits.

I’m still trying to get better at this, but accessibility is important to a lot of disabled people, so I’m trying to refrain from reblogging images without IDs. I don’t know how to write them myself so I rely on others to do it. I also try to refrain from formatting my posts with different colors or fonts.

If an original post “breaches containment” or starts getting weird comments you can always lock the post and prevent it from being reblogged. You can also do this with personal posts that you prefer not to be shared.

I’ve never had to deal with anon hate or hate comments, but my solution to it is to simply ignore and delete them. Block them if you need to. Don’t even give them the time of day or the attention they crave.

Most importantly, as cliche as this might sound, just have fun with it. I have a great time running this blog and interacting with the schizospec community. At no point should it feel stressful or uncomfortable running a mental health blog. If you need to take a break, please do so, and if it gets too much you can always delete the blog.

i see a lot of "how to use tumblr" posts on my dash now so... here's a reminder about how the tags work, for new and old and returning users.

tags on reblogs only work on your blog. it's an indexing system for your blog only and has no other function... a lot of people use a gazillion tags in reblogs and i guess maybe some do it for achieving some sort of perfect archive for their blog but, from functional point of view, it's redundant. i'd say people are more likely to surf your blog by clicking on a tag they see that interests them, instead of typing a slightly differently spelled version of something in your blog/tagged/[word] or in the search bar (which, by the way, works a million times better for generic word queries, not for tags. when you search a tag, it confuses the system and tosses random posts at you in a very random order; in which case, these different spelled versions only work if you type them in the post itself, not in tags). so you really don't need more than one for a single topic, and if you don't intend to use a tag ever again, it has actually no point whatsoever

tags on original posts are what go in the entire system that you have a search bar for on the dash. even the general search is kinda crappy, but supposedly the posts do go in there. so for those, it may be beneficial to use many different spellings if you enjoy that sort of tag spamming for reaching wider audience.

then there's blacklisting-purpose tagging of course that works for either. i'm not sure how the blacklisting works, but i'd leave things like "tw:" or // out of it just to be sure that you don't actually just by-pass the blocking mechanism with it.

Given the news about New World of Steam, a lot of us are going to replay the games for old time’s sake. With or without this news, I would have done so anyway, but while we’re at it… It just occurred to me.

Why don’t I just share my notes with you as I go through them? Aka, I suppose, go back to that series past me had started years ago where I had intended to study the plot in more depth, see how the puzzles could work in-universe, and just overall try to expand on the lore.

Here is the series in question, in case you don’t know what I am talking about.

I was once again desperately trying to sort my notes through the puzzle theory post I have been trying to make for practically a month, and I just thought that it was simply too big a monster to tackle in only one post. So why not expand on it as we play through the games directly, I guess?

I will make zero promises regarding a schedule, and I am very likely to not make any shitpost-y comics every episode. But what I can offer, however, is a thorough comparison between the Japanese version and the English languages we know (either US or UK, depending). If schedule there is, I will most likely make some sort of queue (past me had planned to separate the episodes in terms of “one puzzle per post”, and this seems to me like a good habit to keep), so I can write multiple posts in a row and then have them post weekly, or bi-weekly, or something like that.

If I ever get to it, I will tag these posts as #pl puzzle theory, since it is a tag I was already using. Feel free to blacklist it if you don’t want to see it! And for those who do, I hope I will manage to make something that is entertaining, thorough, and informative. And not too shitpost-y lol, at least not when it comes to analysing the raw evidence.

(PS: Of course, as always, the priority will always be the fanfic Stable Like Sand. I am merely saying that this playthrough marathon has been on my to-do list for fanfic research purposes for a very long time already, and that I suppose that making it a public mini-series instead of something I would have otherwise kept to myself for the most part will motivate me to get back into it, and make it open to discussion with you all! I am absolutely expecting to get some of my hypotheses contradicted and such, so don��t be shy, that will on the contrary be extremely helpful :D)

Updated my about info with something, but I'll make a post about it too! I wrote that I try to tag a lot of different things on my blog (mainly so I can find things easily, but also if people need to blacklist them). If you ever see something that isn't tagged and you would prefer me to do so, just send me an ask or message and I will start tagging it, I don't mind at all. Usually if I post or reblog something I feel like has the potential for more tags that I don't typically use, I write "ask to tag" for this purpose. I know sometimes I RB things that could be potentially triggering wrt themes or images, so I just want to make sure if there's something I'm leaving out! I try to be fairly thorough, but I never know if people want things blacklisted a certain way. My only request is that anything concerning this isn't a tag like "x don't look", just because it would be a lot harder if several people asked for that and I prefer to keep the tags broader in that case, more like typical things that might be upsetting in some cases (like body horror, noncon themes, etc.).

There's a lot of stuff that's undescribed, and I'm kinda considering tagging stuff like "undescribed visual content" and "undescribed text", because those seem like very separate things.

I'm thinking of labeling aesthetic images, visual memes and art stuff as undescribed visual content. Partially in case I go back and image describe stuff it could help separate high effort, potentially low reward image description. (Visually impaired folks may not care too much if the curtains are blue or orange especially if they've never seen those colors). But also in case of filtering needs, blind and otherwise visually impaired people can blacklist the tag.

And I'm considering labeling screenshots of hashtags, text-dominated infographics, reddit/twitter etc posts, lyric screenshots as undescribed text. Again, partially for the purposes of potentially going back to the posts and describing them if I feel like it/get air that I've visually impaired followers.

Feedback on this idea is welcome, and if anyone knows of a similar tagging system that already exists I'd be happy to be informed.

I see some problems with this idea, especially if it's just me who uses it. But also in the vague definitions, I'd probably have to work out a proper definition and link it in my bio. Also, as I write this out it seems like it may be more useful to tag stuff "art", "screenshots", "post screenshot" and "tag screenshot" or "much undescribed" and "little undescribed" or maybe just asking someone else to describe it.

Hi!! I used to have a Jewish mutual from Poland who used that tag for blacklisting purposes, and it made me consider other ways that people might communicate concepts in their own tongue, so I decided to start including it just in case someone uses it to blacklist

The way tumblr goes about real actual events is incredibly exhausting because on the one hand, it gets treated like it’s fandom discourse and to others it’s so much more important to pretend that they care than to actually care.

People go around pretending they care so much about domestic abuse survivors but will absolutely blaster tumblr with their hot takes on the domestic abuse trial and case with zero tags. Just none at all. Nothing at all to warn, I don’t know, potential actual domestic abuse survivors who might want to not see that being all over their dash?

Because I truly can’t imagine how disturbing this whole thing must be for someone who went through that. And then you go onto your silly blue social media hell to scroll through your favorite TV show nonsense just to be constantly bombarded with hot takes about a real abuse trial and no tags at all that you could blacklist to avoid it. Just, constant noise, and from both sides that both talk with absolute authority on definitely being in the “right” here.

And it baffles me. The two-faced-ness of acting like “well I am talking about this because I care about THE REAL VICTIMS! And [other side] is absolute TRASH and making it SO HARD FOR REAL VICTIMS”. Again, arguments said like this on both sides. But going untagged either way, because it’s not about minding real victims it’s about gloating and it’s about forcing as many people as possible to read their personal opinion on the matter, so let’s not give people tags they could use to avoid seeing this.

I’m sorry, but to me, if someone actually cared about real abuse survivors? They’d be very mindful of their own words and considerate of whether or not the content they put into the world might be triggering for real abuse survivors and they’d then be mindful in tagging their posts appropriately with a cw or a tw and maybe even give the whole trial a tag, or tag the parties involved. Making sure that people to whom this whole trial could be triggering would be able to avoid having to see posts about it.

But clearly, just so very clearly, that’s not what it’s about. It’s just about gloating and being right and rubbing it into other people’s faces whenever something of some sorts emerges that validates their personal opinion on the matter and they have to force others to see that, so let’s not put any tags on it at all so it can’t be avoided.

Look, if tumblr is your source of news and if tumblr is your platform of activism, that’s your choice. Other people come here to gather cute cottage pictures or look at cats or see their favorite fictional characters kiss. The thing about tumblr is that it has a whole host of purposes and every user is free to interact with whatever parts they want to, but that’s only possible if all parts are tagged.

Even people in fandom discourse have the sensibility to tag their shit with “fandom discourse” or the ships or characters or actually potentially triggering content of said discourse, but the people who talk about a real trial case with real people about real domestic abuse and claim they care about real abuse survivors can’t be bothered to tag at all and it’s genuinely unsettling.

Pro tip: When the people losing their minds over fictional characters make more respectful and mindful decisions than you then you should maybe reevaluate your own choices.
