Google's digital infra investments in Brazil surpass US$300mn
Tumblr media
Google has invested more than 1.6bn reais (US$311mn) in digital infrastructure in Brazil since 2017, mostly in datacenters and the construction and development of submarine cables, company executives said on Tuesday during the Google for Brazil event.
Google opened its Brazil Cloud Region, dubbed southamerica-east1, in 2017, with three availability zones (datacenters) in metropolitan São Paulo.
The company's only other cloud region in Latin America is in Santiago, Chile (southamerica-west1), which it opened last February.
The company also operates three submarine systems connected to Brazil: the cables Monet, which runs from Santos/Praia Grande to Boca Raton, Florida; Junior, from Santos to Rio de Janeiro; and Tannat, from Santos to Maldonado in Uruguay.
