I’m seeing a lot of Americans refusing to celebrate 4th of July because of Roe vs Wade. But what’s telling is only SOME groups are going to be told to stop celebrating holidays because of what bad people or the government does.

And we know for a fact that nobody is going to tell people to stop celebrating Ramadan because of the Udaipur killings. Nobody is going to tell people to stop celebrating Chinese New Year because of Zero Covid or Xinjiang.

The whole idea of not celebrating because of the government is performative. Either it should apply to everyone or nobody.
