I was shopping around for a ludicrous latex Barbie outfit to wear to go see Barbenheimer in the cinema (yes both, this look is the bomb, pun fully intended) but given the literally puddle of shiny sweat on the floor after the half our I took to film this maybe I'll just save this for playtime 😅💖

Last week, we asked graphic designer Alex Banx - @xalexbanx - to help us create a This Barbie meme to celebrate Octavia E Butler after seeing the amazing This Barbie meme created by Tananarive Due.

Alex started with the standard This Barbie template provided by @barbiethemovie starring @Issarae (FUN FACT: Issa Rae is working on an adaption of Fledgling for @HBO) and added the words "This Barbie Is making us rethink the past, present, and future." The statement pays homage to Kindred, Parable of the Sower (set in 2024), and Dawn.

Alex went on to usurp the "Barbie" narrative and replaced the name Barbie with Octavia and the release date with the Sistah Scifi website.
