Recovery day 2 and my right side heckin swole :")

I had to clear off the stuff I had on the chair because she looked so sad when there wasn't room for her xD

Cw post surgery medical stuffs (no pics)

The compression dressings on the right side are lower than on the left and I think mainly because of that 1. The right drain is really pressed against my ribs (ow) and 2. The whole underarm area is swollen as fuuuuck

I've got pressure and an ice pack on it and its still draining fluids so there's nothing blocked. But it definitely needs more compression on it since mom and I massaging the area made a huge difference with it draining 💀💀

Called the surgeon and left a message since they were already out for the day but we'll see if they want me to come in and take a look or not 🤷

Mom says it doesn't look bruised at least but she thinks its like 3x the size of my left side 💀 she confirmed before we left that what's on now is all considered 'original dressings' aka not to be fucked with. So even tho we know adding something around the area would almost definitely help, gotta let it be until we hear back from the surgeon 💀

Hopefully it will calm down overnight or we get it looked at tomorrow. At least it doesnt hurt too much besides feeling sore from the swelling.

Otherwise today's been mostly spent kind of dazey from meds and lack of sleep. Focusing on anything too much makes me super sleepy but then when I try to sleep I get bored 😂

okay they get two chaperones then. one of whom adds, I guess, super speed to the team comp for this ostensible stealth mission (I mean, like, granted, I would expect maybe everybody here but kirishima to have some capacity to move quietly, at least deku and, idk, maybe todoroki, maybe momo, possibly iida)

Bakugo: "If you're gonna talk in your sleep, you should just go to sleep and [stuff that'll get me suspended again]" …wtf does that mean? it didn't take him long to say all that, either, is that just a saying in Japanese?

halfway through a single episode and it's already 1. …yup.

momo: "these guys are idiots, but once they see how hard stealth missions are, we can go home" …momo, I don't know if there IS a genre where that line of thinking would be any more realistic than theirs -- (unless she's just resolved to the idea that it's gonna be combat)

kirishima, without even a heading: "awright, lemme at em!" stealth mission. yeah. -- momo: "be vewy, vewy quiet. we're being hunted by villains"

yeah, had a feeling the villains were overestimating bakugo. surprised if he listened to a word of any of it. -- "I want to win like All Might!" called it. kid wouldn't know an ideal or ideology if it slapped him; he wants his will to be the only will that matters and has no capacity to settle for less.

(news guy is talking about how bakugo is vegeta) …bakugo IS a weird character. like, this is a weird show to begin with, but… I mean, I guess it holds up that in an environment like this, people would get hooked on supervillain mentalities more often and from younger ages. come to think of it, it's an easy mentality to project onto someone; think it's rare for it to actually stick to a character consistently, except for villains with exceedingly simple motivations. vegeta just stands out even more when he's not in something like DBZ, I guess (or, well, dbza, which I've actually seen) -- "as an educator, I take full responsibility for vegeta's behavior" mrs puff said the same thing, and look where it got her

bakugo: "since they're trying to win me over, they won't seriously try to kill me" proud of you for trying thinking for once, but you're selling yourself some pretty good news on some pretty shaky premises

deku: "let's see, our team comp sucks, we have very little intel, we can't get any free intel because our team comp sucks…" for some reason I predict Looney Tunes bullshit, I don't see what they could accomplish with anything inside-the-box.

25.06.19 || Lesson (Dressage)

Super boy today! We took yesterday off because thunderstorms and I was at work/in the lab for 13 hours so not a lot of time to get out to the barn anyway. Also figured a day off would be good for the soreness in my back and ribs from our Heckin Big Spook on Sunday.

He was so dead quiet and nonplussed by all the stuff happening around us, outside the arena. My friend (trainer) was super impressed by how laissez-faire he was about all the commotion and we focused on maintaining that relaxation throughout the entire ride.

To that end, we focused on stretchy walk (+ impulsion and flexion) and stretchy trot (+ rhythm and consistent push into the bridle). We utilized her Circle of Death exercise (click the link to go to her blog to see it if you’re interested!) and it really worked for monitoring his consistency overall. It also helped him to stretch under more, while still staying relaxed and through the bridle. Ended on lovely right lead canter work that felt very relaxed while still being forward, and that I had to actively keep asking for because he was so lazy chill today.

Also, the Yoga for Equestrians I did last night to try and work out some of the kinks in my back made me more aware of using my core efficiently this morning—so that was neat to notice! I don’t really ~do~ yoga but I might start adding this particular YouTube routine in every week or so after seeing the impact on my riding.

And bonus! Some of my sorer back muscles felt a little better after the ride AND my lovely massage therapist was willing to fit me into her break this afternoon to work the rest of it out.

OK, so.

I saw A Day to Remember last night, and that was the *wildest* concert I've ever seen. To start, The Devil Wears Prada went on super early but they were really fun. Next was Falling in Reverse, but I'm gonna focus on the positives of this amazing night, and I bought some heckin dope merch at that point anyways (I'm always jealous of people for having cool flags in their homes and got one to compensate).

Papa Roach went on, and they were surprisingly killer. Can't remember their whole set, but it included Scars, Last Resort (which was honestly such an awesome experience live, the whole damn crowd knew it word for word), Song 2 by Blur, and To Be Loved (the wrestling fan in me went OFF for it tbh).

Between them and ADTR the crowd was pretty hyped, we sang along to I Want it That Way, Clint Eastwood, Bulls on Parade and a pit formed for Chop Suey (great songs to keep the hype tbh)

When ADTR finally went on.... holy heck it was amazing. I almost fainted, regained my composure and oh my god that pit went hard. Only pit I've ever seen with that force was OM&M back in 2016, and this crowd was easily 5x that size so it had space too. Crowd surfers were getting chucked forward so fast that another dude and I legitimately had to start carrying them solo for safety reasons during You Be Tails, and during Sometimes You're the Hammer I got dropkicked at the first chorus, easily the most energy I've ever felt at a concert. Tbh when they started up 2nd Sucks it felt like a hurricane localized into a 40 ft radius.... Their production was amazing as well, the swaps between clips from their music videos and live footage at the venue was freaking awesome. Their encore performance was incredible, too. They played If It Means a Lot to You, I Remember, The Plot to Bomb the Panhandle and Downfall of us All to wrap it up, it was such an experience to feel the mood settle and rise like it did.

Honestly it was the greatest concert I've ever experienced in my life, possibly the best day I've ever had. A Day to Remember is fucking amazing, Papa Roach had us do a wall of death, Ronnie Radke can put on a good show for being such a dick and TDWP was a great crowd starter. I'm sore as hell, I bled a lot last night, ruined my pants and almost had a major panic attack, but God if that wasn't the best night ever.
