Can’t recall if past me has ever outright spelled this out or not but the true way to tell that Chili is the most well adjusted of the Striaton Triplets is that he abandons his fake made up surname Ghetsis gave them when he gets married while Cilan does not. Cress would have too (but that’s because of gender roles vs him being willing to let go of his past. Fool would have taken Harmonia in a heartbeat had Ghetsis been willing) but Cilan maintaining the illusion he’s totally normal and well adjusted and Clement changing his surname to Pratt while Chili abandons his surname and takes Burgundy’s surname is a sign.

Favorite "solo" character song I have for Cress is No Man Alive by Hannah Fury. Might not be what I would consider his "Main Theme" per se but is pretty high up there. Certainly the aspect of his character I think about the most.
Special mention to this lyric cause is my fav part of the song. Pretty obvious who it's referring to.
There's no man alive that I can't deceive So give me a man who's crueler than me

Should maybe make a longer post with Cress songs since have quite a few for him. It’s the unconventional take on his character that does it.
But anyway, recent Cress/Ghetsis song. Dopamine by Siiibrain, Maggie Lindebrainn. From Cress’ perspective like all the Cress/Ghetsis songs.
Lyrics from it I liked the most are
Rush me out but can't let go Feels like I just sold my soul Burn my skin, your heart's a hole Hate you but I can't let go
and
I'm your cigarette, I'm sick of it, yeah Something doesn't feel right I'm your cigarette, I'm sick of it But at least I'll stay, I'm trying
All of the lyrics are good thought since has an overall affection to it. I like the idea where even once Cress is starting to move on, can never fully let go of that lingering loyalty.

Ghetsis/Barret would make a good ship. Also, the child should be as evil as Avonia (tyranitardude’s Ghetsis/Aldith daughter).
Ghetsis already has...a lot of children in this verse.  Most are actually just canon characters I retconned into being his children, with Sorrel as the only fankid. I’m not opposed to adding more, and there’s a pretty good chance I will, but as of now I’m just letting things be.
The ship and idea itself are interesting, I’m just too invested in Ghetsis/Cress as my main Ghetsis ship.  My interest in it got a bit out of hand, but it’s the ship I would want to do more with and actually shapes a lot of why Cress is the way he is. With all their history, even Ghetsis is more interested in Cress over one of his Plasma grunts (although he's certainly not opposed in the slightest to having some “fun” with one of them).
I also just can't see Ghetsis raising a child with someone like Barrett. It would have to be Barret single-momming it. Even in the context of an AU where the Striaton Brothers had remained with Ghetsis and Cress had raised any resulting children with him, it would still be very one-sided in the parenting department.  Cress is being “permitted” to raise children with him, and any influence Ghetsis has on them is going to be negative.  He's not going to be a good father, even if he isn't grooming them with a specific purpose in mind.
A child turning out evil because he shaped them towards that route is pretty likely.  I've talked a bit with @pokemon-legends-and-legacies about a Bad End AU where Ghetsis wins and what would happen with some of the fankids as a result.  Since it's a Bad End AU where Hilbert is the one who loses, Sorrel would have never been sent away by Cress. He always would have been raised by him and Ghetsis.  And in that environment, I can see him ending up an “evil character.”  Groomed by his father as an alternative heir (N is on thin ice after all, even if Ghetsis still keeps him around to be his puppet king).  Sorrel ends up very cut throat as a result, only having loyalty towards his immediate family but raised to be a ninja/assassin of sorts like his mother and uncles. The most loyal of his siblings to their father, someone who would have no issue cutting down anyone trying to overthrow his rule.
Similar to what L&L did, there are fankids that likely exists in that AU that don’t exist in the main verse.  I’ve purposely not developed them since I would be tempted to make one a Faller so they could cause drama.  But, if I were to add another fankid for Ghetsis, it would probably be in that context. Ship wise, it would likely be another Ghetsis/Cress kid, or a Ghetsis/Hilbert kid since uhhh, that’s a think that happens as well.

In honor of the anon who asked about Lavender and Laurel, I figured it was time to post the questionable family tree outlining all of Cress’ children.  And yes, Sage, Laurel, and Lavender are triplets, despite all having different fathers.

now i gotta ask: are there any pairings that you don't talk about that you endgame?
Despite what my answers to the previous endgame ship asks probably make it seem like, with some exception, I’ve just been making this all up as I go.  I don’t have a bunch of secret endgame ships I’ve been holding back all this time. If a ship is set as endgame, I do add it to the family list within a few days of deciding. Since most of these characters are still around when the fankids are traveling, often still in the position of Gym Leader/Elite Four/some other important position, I’ve been meaning to decide what they’re all doing and this is as good an opportunity as any. Most of these characters I’ve at least given some thought to (thus why I couldn’t answer anything for the Alola characters, since I truly haven’t thought about them), but for the most part, these have been quick decisions I’m making as I answer questions.
If you’re actually asking if I have any endgame ships I’m too ashamed to admit to, thus I don’t talk about them, there are none at this point.  Most of the “bad ships” that happen aren’t endgame. The worst ship that happens that I actually am a bit ashamed about (to the point it took over a year before I added evidence of it to the blog) is Ghetsis/Cress. It’s an ongoing thing that happens while Cress is working for Ghetsis as a member of the Shadow Triad.  If you’ve looked at the family list recently, you might notice I added a kid for them as well, which is based around a very early prototype idea I had that somebody (she knows who she is) talked me in to actually going through with. I’ll eventually make a post about it (since I do have most of it drafted), but I do consider it the worst ship on this blog, since while it’s technically not forced, it’s certainly toxic and based around Ghetsis being a manipulative pos with no morals.
