Truly one of a kind, murderer Auguste Neel occupies a singular place in criminal history. The islands of St. Pierre and Miquelon, though sited close to the Canadian territory of Newfoundland, remain a French colony to this day. While Canada hanged its civilian criminals and shot its soldiers for capital crimes, France used its dreaded guillotine even if it had to import one for the occasion.

Blue Jay
Here is a photo of a blue jay (Cyanocitta cristata) that I took in October 2023. I haven't seen any of these birds in a few weeks, I know that they are still around though. Perhaps they are deeper in the forest. My guess I'll see them more when it starts getting really cold, especially it snows. Yes, it occasionally snows in Louisiana.
"The oldest known wild, banded Blue Jay was at least 26 years, 11 months old when it was found dead after being caught in fishing gear. It had been banded in the Newfoundland/Labrador/St. Pierre et Miquelon area in 1989 and was found there in 2016." - allaboutbirds.org

Image du satellite GOES16, le 15/10/2023 à 14h00 UTC : une dépression bien creuse (974 hPa en son centre) circule actuellement près des côtes de Nouvelle-Angleterre. On distingue un enroulement nuageux bien net autour de son centre.
Elle se dirige vers le Nord. Ainsi lundi en journée, elle passera à proximité de St-Pierre-et-Miquelon, où l'on attend des rafales de vent de Nord-Est de l'ordre de 100 km/h et des pluies parfois soutenues.

saw ur france hate post, it might upset you to know that you actually live very close to a part of france. it's the only part of north america that stayed part of "new france" it's called st pierre et miquelon. i think u can get there by plane but u can also take the ferry from a town called fortune in canada to get there

St. Pierre and Miquelon wants to visit and they’re looking for permission.
The tiny island off the Burin Peninsula has written the french government to petition our province to join the Atlantic Bubble. NTV’s David Salter reports.
