Which version of Cersei you like more and think is better written ShowCersei or BookCersei?
thank you for your ask!!
i think that both have their merits! for example, in the early seasons of the show, cersei is given more focus and opportunity to display her inner character, as opposed to in the books where she doesn't get a pov chapter until AFFC (very much not a fan of that, but i may just be biased). as the show went on and the writing got a bit more... messy... it definitely did a disservice to cersei, whose character remained strong in the books (and i do hope we haven't seen the last of her pov chapters).

How similar & different do u think Dany & Cersei are in the books & show?
Dear nonny,
I think that Da€nerys is indeed the closest to her book counterpart. They really did a very good job of translating her POV to the screen, the triumphant music that reflects her moments of confidence and victory, the nice things people say about her, the devoted followers that hide that her aims are not selfless, the propaganda sayings that sound good but mean nothing (break the wheel), her hypocrisy (Don’t judge me by my father, but I’m going to hold you to the oath your ancestor swore) etc. etc. Some of her questionable decisions in the books they did not have on the show (rejecting Quentyn’s offer of an alliance, torturing the wineseller’s daughter), but they had some additions, like the scene in season 5, where Da€nerys randomly lets one of the masters she suspects of being a harpy being eaten by her dragons. It is not the same, but close enough: Punishing someone who she only suspects of being guilty.
As for Cersei: I far prefer the show version. Not just, because of Lena, but that comes into it of course. Cersei on the show is a bit smarter, and while BookCersei is obsessed with continuing Tywin’s legacy, Show Cersei is more of her own person. Also she does own her villainy, more so than in the books. In the books Cersei just wants to destroy her enemies, become the cleverest person ever to rule the 7 kingdoms and gets a high when someone compares her to her father. I think Book Cersei would be in heaven if someone told her. You are Tywin’s child indeed, but even more clever, more ruthless, Tywin with tits and I stand in awe. Book Cersei knows she is ruthless but she finds excuses for herself, like when she gives Falyse to Qyburn - She was annoying anyway. Book Cersei is also paranoid, and thinks everybody is up to get her, which is not entirely wrong. Book Cersei thinks she is realistic, that she knows she can only have power if people fear her, but she does not think of herself as a bad person, just as someone who deserves it all. BookCersei is closer to BookDa€nerys than ShowCersei.
ShowCersei on the other hand knows she is evil. She enjoys doing what she wants, as we saw in her scene with Septa Unella at the end of season 6 (top notch acting there, Lena deserves an emmy for that scene alone). She knows that there are better people than her. Her honest misery and grief when Myrcella died (who was a genuinely good person), is really heartbreaking. So, you could not insult ShowCersei by telling her that she is evil. She knows that. She has no scruples, but not because of ‘realism’ but because the world has taught her that she does not get what she wants if she is not ruthless.
I must admit that I prefer Show Cersei, Cersei for me is the one character who actually got better, more fleshed out, more interesting from books to show. I might be biased because I adore Lena’s acting skills, and I think she is by far the most interesting female face on the show (not the most beautiful), but her face is really something I like to study.
I know, she is going to die, but I will enjoy every minute Cersei is on screen, while I wouldn’t mind at all if Da€nerys drops dead in the first minutes of episode 1 (I know this is not going to happen, she has an arc to fulfill).
Thanks for the ask!
