You know... I'm just thinking about Angel and the whole Shanshu thing. And I feel like it had to eventually happen in his future, right? Because prophecies are something you can't get out of.

I feel like that's not something Joss was going for, because his whole thing was "you don't get happy endings." At least if you're Angel. But he also set it up that prophecies can't be avoided and he wrote this prophecy into the story, so...

I feel like they tried to say that Angel got his Shanshu in Angel: After the Fall, when Wolfram & Hart temporarily made him human while he was in Hell. But that was to make him crazy. And according to Wesley, the Shanshu is supposed to be a reward for stopping an apocalypse. So, unless Wesley translated that part of the prophecy wrong, I feel like it doesn't count.

Same thing with people who try to say that when Angel got the Mohra demon's blood in him in "I Wil Remember You", that was the Shanshu. No: because it was supposed to be a reward for stopping an apocalypse. That whole thing was a complete accident and there was no apocalypse in sight in that episode.

The only other argument that makes sense, I guess, is if you say that the prophecy about "the vampire with a soul turning human" was about Spike, not Angel.

But if so, the point still stands that the prophecy should still be on the table. Because neither Angel nor Spike have yet stopped an apocalypse and turned human as a reward for that yet.

And, no: I don't think that's something you can just sign away, like Angel was forced to try to do towards the end of Angel season 5. I feel like that actually increases his chances of getting the Shanshu, actually, because that was a selfless act.

what sort of things does your muse look for in a partner? A: Kindness above all else. There's a trend in the rpc to describe muses like Faith as 'touch starved', but she's not touch starved --- Hotness-wise, Faith's an easy 18/10 on a bad hair day, she can get touched whenever she feels like it. What she's starved for is kindness, emotional intimacy, the ability to trust and feel safe in trusting. Kindness, and gentleness are big things with her when it comes to what attracts her long-term. She does like a little monster in her man, so a sweet guy who can kick ass is always a plus. Also, she's a major sapiosexual and tends to gravitate towards sages, teachers, watchers, and is quite the scientist groupie. Mostly, just be nice to her. It's less obvious to guys than it should be, turns out.

what is the lowest and highest age person you’ll ship with your muse? A: Depends on Faith's age in the verse, but 18 is the lowest and only if Faith is also between 18-21, and there is no 'oldest' but it has to make some kind of sense and the other muse has to be mentally vital, of sound mind and have their wits about them. I tend to keep the age differences under 15 years in either direction (Bruce is 13 years older than Faith, Elijah's 1000 so do the math there), mostly preferring they be within 5 years if possible. All that said, I do think everyone really needs to think about this one because ageism in the rpc is rampant. Keep it legal, keep consent and the ability to consent, keep everyone safe but after that, I don't think age matters that much.

how easily does your muse fall in love? A: This is gonna sound crazy but Faith falls for people very easily (not necessarily love, but she does crush), she just kinda keeps her mouth shut about it because she is wholly unloveable (according to her, at least) and the risk of rejection is too great. For someone so strong, when it comes to her little baby feelings, she's a raw nerve and she can't handle being brushed off or knocked back. It's a heck of a lot easier not to feel anything than to admit a crush and have your last feeling stepped on, so she doesn't let the guy in. If you think she won't force herself to stop caring about someone over some small dent in her feelings, she absolutely will.

could buffy and angel do orpheus and eurydice a discussion with myself

#i have problems in my brain ok #but it's like. tragedy! tragedy! tragedy! #they could do it both ways you have buffy-orpheus who loves angel but its doomed orpheus was always doomed to love too much and turn back #and lose eurydice. it doesnt map exactly but the idea of it does... iwry as a memento mori except more of a 'remember you are doomed' #and then angel with buffy has always made me think of the reading of eurydice as art/inspiration for orpheus #partly bc it involves abstracting a woman into a Concept and it is the pursuit more than anything... again. orpheus has to turn #in that moment loses eurydice but it is For the sake of Art that is angel with the shanshu he has to work towards it #even if its impossible and buffy as a symbol of this and again they are soo doomed by the narrative #idk if this makes sense it was more a fleeting thought i love when characters do tragedy

angel literally says that he knows that no matter how much good he does it doesn’t make up for his past but it does mean a lot in the grand scheme of things as any kind gesture is significant and gives purpose even if there is no greater purpose for existing. like girl you don’t have to argue he’s fundamentally a bad or morally grey guy it’s pretty textual. why do you think he broods all the damn time. he knows but is trying to make amends in some capacity to redeem himself to some extent while knowing he’ll never be completely redeemed
