Omg, if Cookie Monster wasn’t the cutest ever @seaworldorlando 🤩🍪 Not only was his ‘lil rap adorable, but at end of this Sesame Street Rocks show, they had streamers explode everywhere, which all the kiddos squealed with delight! Poor girls my heart still hurts. I’m pissed 😤 seriously I’m heated, angry!
The MULTIPLE videos of Sesame Place ignoring Black children is so telling. People like to pretend children shouldn't have to learn about racism as children, however our Black children are thrusted into a world of racism and discrimination very early. their lives are one big traumatic pornography
sesame place, you need to fire that trifling bastard now because right now you’re getting exposed and ratioed because your statement is hot garbage! Seriously look at that Bogus ass apology! Can you say they tried it?!?
Tumblr media
Just white splaining and trying to give cover to racist employee that hi-5 white people and clearly saw 2 Black children and refused to hi-5 them!
WHY THESE FOLKS AT #SesamePlace HAD THE AUDACITY TO LIE, WHEN THEY KNOW THAT IT'S BEING CAUGHT ON CAMERA? ALL OF THEM SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES! Black people always have the receipts. That’s the type of lying that had my mother smack the fire out of me! FIRE OUT OF ME! And screaming to get out of her sight!!!!
youtube

Fuck sesame place apologize or no one should come again!
P.s: Excuse me, we’d like to see who’s up under the Rosita costume. NOW.

Black Twitter reacts to Sesame Place character ignoring Black kids
Social media users are outraged by the footage of Sesame Place characters ignoring Black kids.
Tumblr media
Sesame Place is trending on Twitter after an outraged Black mother took to social media to blast the Philadelphia location on Sunday (July 17). The mother, identified as Jodi on Instagram, uploaded a video of the character, Rosita, saying no to her two daughters, who excitedly reached out for a high-five. Before avoiding contact with the girls, Rosita can be seen high-fiving two other children and a white woman. Jodi claims Rosita went on to high-five “the little white girl next to us” in her rant.
She wrote, “I’m going to keep posting this, because this had me hot. We were on our way out of Sesame Place and the kids wanted to stop to see the characters. THIS DISGUSTING person blatantly told our kids NO then proceeded to hug the little white girl next to us!” The riled mother said she unsuccessfully attempted to file a complaint with management. Jodi’s post continued, “They looking at me like I’m crazy. I asked the lady who the character was and I wanted to see a supervisor and she told me SHE DIDNT KNOW!! I will never step foot in @sesameplace ever again! And please feel free to repost this. Actually run me my money back so mad I stopped the video but it got me so mad when he blatantly told them no.”
Social media users were equally outraged by the footage and argued that race played a factor in this incident. One user tweeted, “I use to work at Sesame Place and the people there were just racially insensitive and only liked me because *Token friend *I’m mixed so I was the ‘safest’ option An awful place and wouldn’t put it past anyone who works here to do this.”
The theme park released a statement claiming Rosita’s “no” gesture was “a response to multiple requests from someone in the crowd who asked Rosita to hold their child for a photo which is not permitted.” But supporters on social media weren’t buying this excuse. Another person tweeted, “The look of hurt on those innocent faces when that Sesame Place character ignored those two girls. Racism starts early and the world is constantly reminding you that you’re less than. I really hope that this will not weaken their self esteem. They need to be loved on.”

Kelly Rowland even shared her take on the matter. She posted a video on her Instagram Story saying, “Okay, so, had that been me? That whole parade would have been in flames. Like, are you serious? You’re not gonna speak to my child? And did you see that baby’s face at the end? The little one with the pink on? She deserves an explanation. Hello!” Other families began sharing footage of similar experiences at Sesame Place. Check out what Black Twitter had to say about the ordeal:
So apparently the Sesame Place has a history of ignoring black kids… Here's a thread of the proof. pic.twitter.com/jblam47HHn — My Hair Longer Than Yours… (@_TheShawn) July 18, 2022

As a former costume character at Six Flags and 5’7’, I didn’t have issues seeing kids at the “lower levels” & that was in Porky the Pig, Tweety plus Daffy Duck. So, I’m curious why & how Sesame Place thought this added to the discussion?🫤 #SesamePlace #Philadelphiahttps://t.co/SrtKo58ZtB — ShakariSBriggs (@ShakariSBriggs) July 18, 2022
This is so disgusting but never surprising when it comes to our children. Whoever is in this "Rosita" costume needs to be fired. I don't know if a racist or a c☻️☻️n is in this costume, but Sesame Place has some splanin', firing and apologizing to do. #BoycottSesamePlacepic.twitter.com/magSNsoLGj — Nicole's View 🇺🇲 (@BLKLiberation84) July 18, 2022
It's upsetting because no matter what damage control is attempted by Sesame Place, nothing can undo how these babies were made to feel in this moment. The looks on their faces are so heartbreaking. https://t.co/orkTmnwbaF — krh (@kyiarenee) July 17, 2022
the thing with that Sesame Place incident that i haven’t seen anyone bring is people are saying “maybe hugs weren’t allowed” but even if you couldn’t give the kids a hug, why not just offer up a high five instead? it’s so fucking simple — kyla! (@YellowSeizuress) July 17, 2022
Fuck Sesame Place. Fuck Rosita. And fuck anybody that doesn’t have a problem with that video. Protect little Black kids from foul treatment by the whack ass people under these costumes. Call their asses out every time. — Somebody’s Fine Mama 💋🫶🏾 (@BombshellCole) July 17, 2022
Idk what attention you haven’t been getting , that you needed to be an idiot an tweet some bs. But damn this is crazy. Clearly the other child never did. Unless you were there. You the sesame place protocol expert? Weirdo https://t.co/23LiCHEdcT — C diddy (@Donlesuave) July 18, 2022
Sesame Place is NOT owned/ran by Sesame Workshop. @SesameWorkshop should look into pulling the license from Sea World (the aquatic animal torture co) for hurting their brand. Maybe give the Sesame Street theme park license to Disney or Universal. #FBApic.twitter.com/Emo6Z29qs8 — PrometheusRisesAgain (@prometheus50K) July 18, 2022
Children can develop feelings of not being good enough very early on. That Sesame Place incident is a prime example of how it could happen. I pray those babies’ self esteem was not damaged by that awful person. They will have the memories of this moment forever. — Somebody’s Fine Mama 💋🫶🏾 (@BombshellCole) July 17, 2022

One of the Black girls who allegedly got snubbed by a character at Sesame Place is still reeling from the incident ... and is now isolating with a family member to regain stability. B'Ivory LaMarr -- the attorney for the family whose kids interacted with Rosita at Sesame Place -- tells TMZ ... the girl in question has been traumatized by the incident, and is staying with her grandmother so she can be shielded from the publicity in a safe environment. LaMarr tells us the little girl has been overcome with emotion, crying and upset because she can't understand why Rosita would treat her differently than white kids. One of the things we're told ... she asked her mother in the immediate aftermath whether she'd done anything wrong ... seeing how the Sesame mascot refused to touch her or the other Black girl, but had interacted with white girls just moments earlier. LaMarr says he and the family are working on setting her up with therapy sessions. As for what's on the horizon ... we're told a Change.org petition has been set up to ID the person in the Rosita costume ... with the goal of accountability. LaMarr previously told us they're also mulling over a lawsuit. As we reported ... similar videos have now surfaced -- Sesame Workshop has apologized and promised more bias training. There's going to be a press conference today in NYC, outside Sesame Workshop, to discuss the matter. @sesameplace @sesameworkshop @sesamestreet @tmz_tv #tmz #sesameplace #sesamestreet #rosita #securethebag #mentaldistress https://www.instagram.com/p/CgPfujqrLUW/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The Congressional Black Caucus Requests To Meet With The Park's President
Tumblr media
It is undeniable that the recent incident at Sesame Street's theme park, Sesame Place, in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, was highly offensive. The disrespect shown to children of any race should never be tolerated. The experience of discrimination is already distressing for adults, but it becomes even more horrendous when a child is involved. Theme parks are ideal places for children to spend time with family and friends. However, the recent incident reveals that the experience has been tainted. What Happened At Sesame Place? On July 16, two young Black girls were ignored by a costumed character dressed as "Rosita" at Sesame Place. In the viral video posted on Instagram by their mother, Jodi Brown, the character is seen welcoming white families with open arms. A moment later, both black girls extended their arms toward the character, asking for a hug. However, rather than fulfilling their wishes, "Rosita" rejects them and departs.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Jeezy (@__jodiii__) Furthermore, the wearer of that costume presented an inaccurate picture of what "Rostia" is really like. Due to this, those girls may have been misled into believing that the actual character of the show actively discriminates against children of a particular ethnicity. Background On The American Television Series 'Sesame Street' There is no demographic group that Sesame Street does not appeal to. Having premiered in 1969, this show continues to be produced today. It is one of the longest-running shows in the history of American television. Sesame Street is an excellent educational source for preschoolers. In addition to Elmo and Big Bird, many other popular characters are on the show, including Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch, and others. Sesame Ready for a Change As a result of this disappointment, the Congressional Black Caucus, led by its chairwoman, Rep Joyce Beatty (D-Ohio), has requested a meeting with the head and general manager, Cathy Valeriano of Sesame Place, per The Hill. "Sesame Street is one of the nation's highest-rated TV shows that, at one time, more than 95 percent of all American Preschoolers watched," The Black Congressional Caucus said. "So, naturally, Sesame Place should be where all children can go to have fun and celebrate. Sadly, that has not been the case." This meeting will focus on how the park plans to execute changes, develop action plans, and provide employee training. “Over the past week, we’ve seen multiple glaring examples of racism coming from the park, including the viral video in which two beautiful little Black girls were blatantly rejected by a character they idolized while white children were embraced,” the members said in a statement. Apology As reported by ABC News, former Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland has spoken out about the incident. "So, had that been me, that whole parade would've been in flames," she said. As a result of the outrage surrounding the incident, Sesame Place issued an apology on July 18. According to them, the "Rosita" character has affirmed that the "no" gesture in the video was not intended for any specific individual. "Rosita" was responding to several requests from someone in the crowd who asked her to hold their child for a photo, which is not allowed.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Sesame Place Philadelphia (@sesameplace) This incident has generated a great deal of confusion. According to "Rosita," it was not intentional, but most viewers believe otherwise. Who is in error here? Written by Nikiya Biggs Follow and like FMHipHop on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter!
Read the full article
