Did I just call Dave Eringa a reason for many bands' demise? I was only joking, don't take this seriously, since some musicians he produced still keep going. For instance, he collaborated worked with Proclaimers that have the best career for a band with a huge hit. They could've ended up the victim of the latter, yet the piece only gave them a freedom to carve their own path. Sure, they still sound like themselves on their cooperating with Eringa, but he does rejuvenate them. You can tell they called him thanks to his association with the Manics, but don't forget – the political was always present in them. The language they sang in speaks volumes, though couple that with their messages? Yes, they're a force to be reckoned with.

This One Song… Dan Lyons & the Tenants on The Price is Right
This One Song… Dan Lyons & the Tenants on The Price is Right
Tell you what – we love hearing from artists when things go right. We equally love hearing from artists when things go dreadfully wrong. A song that was a piece of piss, written in 20 minutes? Or years in the making and a bastard to write? Whether it’s a song that came together through great duress or one that was smashed out in a short amount of time, we’re getting the lowdown from some of our…

Win 1 of 5 Wills & The Willing ‘London Country’ CDs – Music News
London Country is the album that can outline Ian Wills. It is the zenith of a life’s journey that you’d consider to be fiction have been it not for the person himself. From biting poverty and abuse on the grimmest London council estates of the 1970s to the highest-flight of British enterprise, battles with politicians and his personal demons, and eventually to his a lot longed for profession as a author and performer. Ian has needed to struggle for all the things he has achieved, most frequently, and most tellingly, with himself.
youtube
It has been two years within the making and now LONDON COUNTRY, the fourth album from Ian Wills and his band Wills & The Willing is launched on Friday 9 October.
The first single from the album, launched in the summertime, ICEBERG is already having fun with chart success and radio play throughout Europe and USA. Now his 10-track album is able to be launched subsequent month, which incorporates associates Petr Cech on drums and even a spot of Vinnie Jones. The new single IDAHO can be launched the identical day.
Wills has all the time been extremely sincere in his lyrics and this is only one purpose why his confrontational and infrequently stark use of language has elevated him to the place of one of Britain’s premier spoken phrase artists.
Transferring these abilities to a musical canvas along with his band Wills & The Willing, he has reaped reward from throughout the board together with BBC Radio 2’s Janice Long, and even legendary guitarist Les Paul.
The fourth album includes a host of esteemed business musicians, on Guitars – Sean Genockey (The Who/Manic Street Preachers/Kula Shaker/Richard Ashcroft), Piano & Keyboards – Mick Talbot (The Style Council/Dexys Midnight Runners), Piano – Finn Genockey, Pedal Steel – Adam Chetwoood (Mark Ronson/Imelda May/Paolo Nutini/White Denim), Bass Guitar – John Hogg (Roger Daltrey, Jimmy Page, Rich Robinson, Magpie Salute), Drums – Liam Genockey (Paul McCartney, Gerry Rafferty, Steeleye Span, Paul Brady), Drums – Petr Cech (Chelsea FC/Arsenal FC/Czech Republic), Backing Vocals – Hero Fisher/Rebekah Nelson/Nick Sowden and particular Guest – Vinnie Jones (Legend!)
The new songs with an Americana/Country style with a Folk overtone, dig deep right into a wealthy vein of cinematic influences, generally brutal, generally apocalyptic, all the time private, and by no means hiding Ian’s personal vulnerability that brings the tales to life.
Ian’s explains the inspiration behind the tracks of LONDON COUNTRY…
High Plains Drifter “Clint Eastwood inspired; of all the great westerns he has made the one that touched me the most was Unforgiven. No matter what bad we have in our blood the good can shine.”
Three Chords & The Truth “Woody Guthrie once said, “anything more than three chords is showing off”. Truth hurts, lies kill, when you inform the reality the worst that may occur is the reality.”
Idaho “You can fall in love in 10 seconds and out again in another 9, then try all you can to fall back in love knowing no matter what you do the magic is lost, yet you hang on in hope.”
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah “Is the stutter when you see someone and want so much for them to fall in love with you, yet no matter what you do you remain hidden in their vision.”
Iceberg “Knowing your own failings yet believing you can be the difference in preventing the person you love from losing themselves and drifting into isolation and knowing that the price is high.”
Midnight Train “Tom Jones singing Delilah is the greatest murder ballad I have heard. With Midnight Train I thought does he kill her or is he stalking her, the listener can decide.”
Lobster & Chips “I was invited by a dear friend for dinner at a well-known casino in London. Watching the tables being played I wondered how many lives would be affected by good or bad luck. The house always wins was what resonated, and that it’s the hope that kills more than the despair.”
Crushed by Seven Winds “Rage and hate. Rage of a man who snaps because the life he has built was found to be meaningless, and the hate of men who kill for no other reason than the colour of your skin. Rage is punished on death row, hate never punished, so I speak Emmett’s name as a reminder of injustice.”
Hollywood Stars “You have true love in your hand, yet you let it slip because you didn’t know what you had until you lost it.”
Greatest Ever Smile “The last days at the bedside of my sister as she lost her fight.”
With the autumn launch of his new album and second single, Ian can be taking The Willing on tour with him within the coming months to carry out the brand new songs, with dates to be introduced quickly.
Ian Wills mentioned: “There is always some part of me in the songs, the good and bad come out in equal measures, I seem to never forget my failings only my victories as a poet and lyricist. That helps keep me searching and I do write most days, always looking for an answer to a question yet to be asked.”
Ian added “We all find ways to let light into others if we see that the dark is greater than the light.”

Album Review: Caprice Enchanté by The St Pierre Snake Invasion
Album Review: Caprice Enchanté by The St Pierre Snake Invasion
After a wait of nearly 4 years, The St Pierre Snake Invasion release their second album Caprice Enchanté on 21st June. The band’s name comes from the fact St Pierre is a town where everything that could go wrong did, and with this album that sentiment was certainly present throughout.
Recorded at Rockfield studios in January 2017 by Sean Genockey (Reuben/Shame/The Who/Jamie Lenman), the creation…

Albums Being Released in June 2018
Tumblr media
June is almost here! That means that summer is right around the corner, bringing with it longer days and warmer weather. It also means the start of summer album release season, with a whole host of new albums coming out to get excited for.
From rock to hip-hop and everything in between, there are a lot of big albums being released in June. Kanye West is putting out his controversial new album. Christina Aguilera makes her return with a fearless new sound. There are highly-anticipated new albums from rock bands like Florence + the Machine, Nine Inch Nails, Panic! at the Disco, Dave Matthews Band and Gorillaz, as well as Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda. We will also be seeing some new music from legends like Roger Daltrey, Buddy Guy and The English Beat.
Vinyl Bay 777, Long Island’s music outlet, loves new music. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of new albums coming out in the month of June. Here are 12 we can’t wait to get our hands on.
1.       Kanye West, ‘Love Everyone’: Kanye West has been everywhere lately. Aside from the controversial statements he’s been making, much of it is also due to the impending release of his eighth studio album, ‘Love Everyone.’ So far, West has released two singles from the album, “Lift Yourself” and “Ye Vs. the People,” which both received praise from critics and earned spots on the Billboard Hot 100. If the album can draw as much hype as his words, then this could be one of the most anticipated albums of the summer. (6/1)
2.       Roger Daltrey, ‘As Long as I Have You’: Roger Daltrey releases his first solo album in four years this June. ‘As Long as I Have You’ will feature originals as well as covers of songs The Who frontman found transformative in his life. Special guests include Mick Talbot, Sean Genockey and Pete Townshend, who plays guitar on more than half the album, making this the first time the Who bandmates have made new music together since 2006. (6/1)
3.       Sheppard, ‘Watching the Sky’: Following the success of their 2014 debut full-length, Australian family band Sheppard is hoping to keep up the momentum with their second album, ‘Watching the Sky,’ this June. The band has already released five high-energy indie-pop singles from the album, all of which have charted in the top 10 in Australia with “Coming Home” already reaching platinum status. (6/8)
4.       Dave Matthews Band, ‘Come Tomorrow’: It has been six years since Dave Matthews Band released ‘Away From The World’ in 2012. That changes next month when the band releases their ninth album, ‘Come Tomorrow.’ This will be their first album without longtime violinist Boyd Tinsley, who was fired from the band earlier this year. From the singles released so far, this sounds like it might be a quieter album than some of their previous work. (6/8)
5.       Buddy Guy, ‘The Blues Is Alive And Well’: Still going strong at 81, Buddy Guy releases his 17th solo album, ‘The Blues Is Alive And Well,’ this June. The blues legend’s album features guest appearances from The Rolling Stones’ Mick Jaggar and Keith Richards, Jeff Beck and relative newcomer James Bay. (6/15)
6.       Christina Aguilera, ‘Liberation’: Christina Aguilera reinvents herself with every new album she releases and ‘Liberation’ is no exception. Going for a more personal vibe, Aguilera has said that the album is about freedom and letting herself be who she really is. While the album’s first single, “Acceleration,” is an okay track, second single “Fall in Line” is a bold, powerful tune that could easily help Aguilera get her music back into the spotlight. (6/15)
7.       Mike Shinoda, ‘Post Traumatic’: Since late last year, Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda has been releasing solo recordings and self-made music videos, many of which dealt with the pain of losing bandmate Chester Bennington. Over the last year though, the project has evolved into an entire album, ‘Post Traumatic,’ set to be released next month. In an interview with Variety, Shinoda says that while the album starts out dark and heavy, the rest of the album finds a way out of the darkness. (6/15)
8.       The English Beat Starring Dave Wakeling, ‘Here We Go Love’: Dave Wakeling is finally releasing an album with his line-up of The English Beat, 36 years after the last official English Beat album. The product of a successful PledgeMusic campaign, ‘Here We Go Love’ tries to find a balance between love songs and politics, as well as that perfect ska sound. Early reviews of the album have been positive. (6/15)
9.       Nine Inch Nails, ‘Bad Witch’: Though labeled as an album, Nine Inch Nails’ ‘Bad Witch,’ is the third and final installment of their recent EP trilogy. Being released nearly a year after their last EP, frontman Trent Reznor said that the band needed the time for the album to “reveal” itself to them. If lead single “God Break Down the Door” is any indication, the album will be filled with six artistic and well-planned out tracks. (6/22)
10.   Panic! At The Disco, ‘Pray For The Wicked’: Following the mainstream success of their 2016 album ‘Death of a Bachelor,’ Panic! At The Disco is back with a new album. Titled ‘Pray for the Wicked,’ the album, according to frontman Brendon Urie in NME, was written as a way to thank the fans for everything that has happened to him over the last two years. So far, the band has released two upbeat, sample-filled singles to promote the album that definitely give me “high, high hopes” for it. (6/22)
11.   Florence + The Machine, ‘High As Hope’: More than a year in the making, Florence + the Machine are gearing up to release their fourth studio album, ‘High As Hope,’ this June. Second single “Hunger” has been a massive hit on alternative radio already, which bodes well for the album. (6/29)
12.   Gorillaz, ‘The Now Now’: Gorillaz has announced that they will be releasing their sixth album next month. ‘The Now Now’ comes just one year after the release of ‘Humanz,’ the animated band’s first release in seven years. Though there aren’t many details yet, work on a new album was teased last year by animator / co-creator Jamie Hewlett who said that it will bring the band in a different direction. There was more teasing over the weekend, with posters appearing near London’s All Points East festival, as well as Instagram and Twitter posts from the Damon Albarn and Emma De Caunes. (6/29)
As June approaches, there are a lot of new albums coming out to get excited about. Check out some of our most anticipated releases above and let us know what albums you’re looking forward to in the coming month.

Orla Gartland makes good music but hasn’t considered the practical side of living in a lighthouse
Orla Garland’s a really charismatic, sort-of-new singer songwriter whose newest release is low-key rumbler I Go Crazy. It’s out this week — she made it with collaborators The Usual Suspects, the newly-formed production duo consisting of La Roux’s Ben Langmaid and Sean Genockey.
There’s a great line in the song about being on “the edge of 22” which you will be 0% surprised to hear was inspired by Stevie Nicks. “There’s an undeniable Edge Of Seventeen influence,” Orla tells Popjustice. “Although I’d like to think I avoided stealing the groove completely…” Orla adds that there’s a ‘What would Stevie do?’ poster in the studio, which partly inspired the line. “I mean the real answer to ‘what would Stevie Nicks do?’ is probably a fat line of cocaine, but that’s not as interesting as writing a song is it?”
Orla’s from Dublin (Grafton Street is now full of busking Ed Sheeran wannabes, she notes) but she’s been living in Ealing for two years, and if you’re not well-acquainted with London let’s just say Ealing isn’t exactly where popstars tend to live. “I knew I wasn’t cool enough for east London,” is Orla’s explanation. “And I’ll never be cool enough. I know that. I look at it like this: I can either be the least cool person in east London, or be within the top three cool people on one specific road in Ealing.”
Good attitude.
If you search Orla on Spotters you’ll find a couple of earlier EPs: the first is quite ‘real music’ so approach with caution but the second, 2016’s Shapeshifting, is a bit more electronic. Listen quickly, though, because Orla’s thinking of taking her old stuff down. “It’s the most pretentious thing to do and an entirely selfish move,” she smiles, although we’re on the phone so she might not be smiling, but she says it in a smiley way so let’s not think too hard about this whole thing. “But we all feel like we’re getting better at the things we do, don’t we? At the same time, though, if I like someone’s new song and see their older stuff online, and it’s not as good as the new stuff, sometimes I think: ‘Well, you’ve been working at this a long time, so fair play.'”
So she might take the old stuff down or she might not. She has not yet decided. In any case it’s the new stuff that’s important here. Orla’s at Waterloo Station when we speak; she’s waiting for a train to take her to the studio. We end up talking about spooky robot-gloved pop wizard Imogen Heap who, Orla declares, is really cool. “She has her own studio, she lives in a lighthouse and Taylor Swift wants to make music with her,” she adds, but that whole lighthouse thing just sums up Imogen Heap, doesn’t it? How would you even put shelves up?
“It’s architecturally difficult,” Orla concedes.
Realistically, the only way you could put a shelf on a curved wall would be to attach it vertically, and then everything would just fall off.
“You’re putting me off the lighthouse idea now,” Orla eventually says. “I hadn’t thought about that.”
Well think on, Orla Garland. Think on.
ALSO
Given three minutes to cook dinner Orla would prepare pesto pasta, which might be taking the concept of ‘al dente’ a little far, but that’s what she’d do. She might add some pepper or chicken.
She thinks Ariana’s new song might be her favourite at the moment. It’s all minor in the chorus and goes major in the verses, she says: “Not something people do in pop very often.”
Orla tends to prefer sans-serif fonts. Papyrus is her least favourite — it’s a joke font. She has no time at all for Papyrus. “The only time you should use it is if you’re doing a primary school project about Egypt and even then I’d say it’s too obvious a choice.”

Dave Eringa looks like a contemporary figure thanks to his Manic association. I mean, he gets called by the old rockers a lot thanks to his collaboration with Manic Street Preachers. I assume these rock figures wish to become sonically cool again, though a funny fact might be most of their efforts look back. For instance, Roger Daltrey took a break from one of the Who reunions to record As Long As I Have You, which fits his career at the current point. There is a sense of wistfulness present here and Mr. Eringa plays along. However, this shouldn't be seen as a nostalgia trip, where an old singer covers his favourites. He does put some of his originals here, yet the entire mood wavers between elegiac and affirmative.
