Our finale of this season ended (on a cliffhanger of course!)
We managed to get to the train using the underground, narrowly avoiding a ghoul creature that scared us so much we hid in a closet and waited for it to pass. It had a horrible teeth chattering noise that we all noped out of. We realised out of game afterwards this was an NPC we could have talked to but our GM freaked us out so much we just didn't lmao
We got to the train, with our best Urchin buying us tickets and causing a distraction using Ezra's police whistle to get all the police to go running which meant we got on without our identities being checked.
We left London, which for most of us is a strange thing. The wastes are dangerous and full of animates, thropes and worse. Every town or city has huge walls to protect them from the supernatural in the Wastes. But as we headed up to Yorkshire many of us for the first time so grass and trees, actual fauna and flora which just doesn't exist in London.
We arrived in Sandsend, a small coastal town. Managed to bribe an Undertaker to give us information about the estate and get her to go back to London. The town was eerily quiet and the people in it seemed to be almost sleep walking. We later learned it is because there are multiple spirits in each person and the strain it is causing makes them very zombielike.
We decided to try and extort information from the looser aligned members of the circle - our choices being the brother of the parapsychologist or the father of the dhampir. We went with the father and found he has been attacked by the circle and unable to help. He did give us some information and it seems to be the plan is being pushed by Mandolin. Much to Ezra's anger.
We then went for the brother finding out he is staying in the same Inn as we are. We just wanted to talk but found his room in disarray and a foul smell in the bathroom with sloughed off skin and chitin. Then the "brother" who is now a weird amalgam of thrope and insect fell from the ceiling and that is where we ended not knowing if we are going into a fight or if we can talk him into helping.

Puffing and Panting
Wednesday 10th May
It’s a good walk from Runswick Bay to Robin Hoods Bay, 16 miles in fact with a fair amount of up and down. Tony is very fit and I’m not so I spent quite a lot of the day puffing and panting on the frequent hill sections. We were moving at a cracking pace and did the 16 miles in 6 hours with just one lengthy stop in Whitby for coffee and cake.
The weather was kind with just one shower and we had some great views for almost the whole of the day. We walked briskly to Sandsend which seems to have enjoyed something of a renaissance and looked pretty smart. Then is was on past the golf course into Whitby itself were we stopped for coffee and cake. For once Whitby was quiet and as we left the cafe owner started to pack up for the day.
There were more people on the Abbey side of the harbour and we powered up the 199 steps to the abbey without a break ( cue more puffing and panting from me). It’s then a six/seven mile yomp to RHB. The cliffs were fairly quiet but we spoke to a couple of guys finishing the Coast2Coast. The American member of the pair was keen to chat and quick to tell us he was 69years old and if we’ed stayed longer to chat I think he would have given us his inside leg measurements and current salary!! Fair play to him though he was carrying his luggage in what was a chunky pack.
We got caught in a shower but it almost stopped by the time I’d got my waterproofs on. We rolled into RHB at around 3.45 and Tony hopped onto a bus to go get his car and drive home.
I’m in the Grosvenor Hotel which is ok though the bathroom is the smallest I’ve ever seen. I’ve had curry in the bar (hot) and chatted to two American ladies who are walking to Ravenscar tomorrow which should take about an hour and a half so they aren’t pushing themselves. They are, like me, a bit concerned about the rail strike as they are heading to York on Sunday.
It’s been an enjoyable day with Tony as we share similar interests and opinions. If only I could keep up!!
I’ve spoken to my Dad tonight and he was measured today for his prosthetic leg. He is so positive, determined and cheerful it is great to see and I have no doubt he will be walking again soon. Who knows he might be on the walk next year, he can’t be any slower than me uphill.
I’m still in reasonable shape with no injuries and I’m feeling good about the fairly tough leg to Scarborough tomorrow where I will meet up with Dave and Sally.
