I watched the first episode of Bucchigiri?! I picked it up because it's an original anime by Utsumi and I want to see what she's cooking this time, even if I never got past the first episode of SK8. I'm glad I did, because this first episode has been my favourite of the season!
The characters are lovable and intriguing. There's a good amount of them, but they have distinctive designs (another plus, even if my personal tastes are a bit different), so I don't think it'll be hard to keep track of any. The world is lively and vibrant, we get that good MAPPA animation, and it feels like we've only scratched the surface of what the show has to offer with this first episode and the curious mix of old school delinquents and arabian nights. I think it'll be very fun and easy to watch!
I'm also taking note of the similarities to Sarazanmai, of which there were a few (it's gay)

honestly i really gotta respect gotouge for not really going into romance. like yeah we know the main guys have love interests but its not really that big a deal because the focus is on the friendships and the whole siblings thing . which honestly??? respect. its actually quite refreshing. hell yeah best friends and siblings

I’m compelled to remind the fandom that Spirit canonically has an outie bellybutton. That is all.

I didn't have an Anime Drawings phase as a kid, so I get to start at Middle School Level as a 27 year old 😭 at least I can only go up from here!
Please recommend a blorbo or two of yours for me to draw. I need to practice!!!!! I have so many years of practice to catch up on before I find a style I can do easily/consistently 😭

I've been watching a few episodes from P4 the animation (whenever i have time) and i had already started reading the manga.
The last episode i watched, i think it was the 6th, was where they mention the Golden Week break.
Dojima had made plans about spending a day with Nanako and Yu, but then he cancela them due to a coworker getting sick.
The thing is, in the anime this is a bit fast (to me because i had already seen what the manga does) and, although Yu knows Nanako is sad and feels sorry for her, it feels like there isn't more than that.
But in the manga there are these little panels that show how Dojima's absence affects Souji (using the manga name cause i feel like it gives a different interpretation to the character, so far) on a personal level because he was also used to be alone, his parents were absent all the time (and, besides that, he also had to change schools a lot of time, which also affected the way he bonded with people).
Tumblr media
And i love this little touch the manga gives, story wise. I don't know if the anime will address this subject with Yu or not (even in the game is not like this happens anyways, but we can infer from the fact that Yu was sent to Inaba and his parents are busy all the time), but i like this small bits of small Souji in the manga. They add a lot to the character in my opinion (and make me enjoy Souji more than Yu, but i still have to finish both adaptations. And watch Golden too).

“When I was in high school, a senior asked me out one time. When I was a sophomore.”
“That must have been very exciting for you.”
“I was the stage manager for a play he was in.”
“Were the two of you close?”
“It was about halfway through the year, so we'd been working together for a while, and we were kind of friends, the way that underclassmen think they're friends with seniors because they'll talk to you for more than like ten seconds at a time.”
“How long were you and he together?”
“I was so surprised when he asked me out that I just said I'd think about it, like I was really taking him seriously.”
“Weren't you?”
“Then one of my friends told me he just did it because he was having a fight with his girlfriend. I didn't even know he had a girlfriend. She was in the play, she was a freshman.”
“Isn't that a kick in the teeth.”
“But fit still felt really important for me to let him down gently, like I had to do the whole 'It's not you it's me,' or 'I'm just not ready for this kind of thing' or whatever.”
“He was worth all that trouble?”
“I was really nervous about it. You know, was I really ready to maybe lose him as a friend, would he accept it when I told him no, would he be mad at me, would I...say it right. But then when I finally did it, he just said, 'Oh, that's okay,' you know, no big deal.”
“You must have been terribly embarrassed.”
“He'd already made up with his girlfriend by then, so.”
“You were a bit useless to him, I suppose.”
“I don't know what happened to him after high school.”
“If he's anything like the rest of us, he's probably suffering a bit.”
“I hope so.”
“Goodness, aren't you?”

its literally sso weird seeing like the majority of posts in a fandom just being people thirsting over characters, like, thats actually what that many people take away from watching television? and although they do it a bit over female characters, its mostly male characters, which i reckon must say a lot about demographics? and like, sometimes you can tell when theyll go weird over it from how the characters portrayed like 'conventionally good looking' and with body language and framing and stuff that you can tell its intentional, although in some cases (or maybe thats just my interpretation) but i always saw it as more the showing offs like the audience is meant to relate to them instead? like its actually from their pov and the audience is just meant to think theyre cool. although maybe thats just me. but then also sometimes the chaaracter is so much like one youre meant to thinks cool or from their pov or whatever and they havent portrayed the conventional attractiveness as clearly, or like thats not how their characters portrayed so its always so weird to me when people on here start going on about how attractive they are
#jujutsu kaisen#also other ones#i mean i havent watched hollywood films for ages and havent watched that many#but it makes me think of those like 80s-2000s especially hollywood films#there the audience is clearly meant to find both the male and female leads attractive which is so obvvious from how theyre portrayed#and like it takes up a lot of the film compared to other tv shows and stuff ive watched?#but then the thing with the animes ive watched is that its a lot more surprising to me when people are like that#although not always there are often times when characters are clearly portrayed like that#and its also like the ones ive watched and stuff#but i dont know maybe its also about how theyre portrayed like the hollywood films are those american hypermasculine guys#and im not saying anime characters are more realistic or relatable or anything neither are meant to be realistic#but i guess anime characters are like more similar to the protagonists of the books i read as a kid which really shaped how i view fiction#so those are the sort of characters that my mind goes to as the ones youre meant to like relate to#and like in general none of the characters might be similar to me in real life thats not what i mean by relate#i mean more empathise or something i guess like see from their pov or project on them? i dont know#but anyway the hollywood guys like theyre never very povable or whatever the word is?#and like those books i read it was often the sort of 'underdog' character or others that were meant to be relatable#whereas both hollywood and anime arent really that so much but anime characters still lends themselves to seing from pov perspective#anyway before ths went into pov it was about how the main way i tell if people will think characters are attractive is narrative positionin

Watching the new Trigun (I’m neutral on the actual anime itself, I’ll wait for more episodes to form a full opinion) and I already don’t like this dude they replaced Milly with lmao. I just wrote a whole rant and deleted it because getting this fired up abt anime is kind of embarrassing but I will leave it at this: the new character even existing AND the way he interacts with Meryl + the two’s dynamic overall feels like. So so sexist to me!! They also changed just Meryl on her own in a way that is kind of weird to me

WOW can't believe I finished Fire Force manga in like 4 hours,,, like sat down and binged an entire manga!! A first for me lmao but again, to my defense, most of the pages were filled with fight sequence which is a quick skip-skip-skip-*gotta wait for the anime to understand these*-skip-skip for me in general
well, in spite of the slightly wonky-shaky lore and slightly repetitive fights towards the end, I enjoyed the story a lot more than I expected. I more or less speed-read through this because I wanted to know where all this madness came to a head rather than trying to piece together the story by myself.
aannnd well, that sure was a ride.
totally recommend the manga for a one-time binge-read—it has easy to follow lore, arcs which smoothly flow into the next, very lovable characters and fantasy abilities and super creative ‘physics’ all based on fire—I think treating it as a standalone (and not as a prequel to Soul Eater) endeared the characters more to me
