the second of the riverswift sisters: herringpaw!!

Personality: herringpaw is a little bit of a snob! she was coddled by her mother when she was a kit, and tends to think of herself as more mature than the other apprentices. she sees the antics that salmonpaw gets into and turns her nose up at them, believing herself to be above such things. she definitely doesn't have that same competitive spirit as her sister, and in fact she actually have some insecurities when it comes to actual training. why does everyone have to go so fast? why can't they just slow down? why can't her sister just let her win at battle training for once?! its really discouraging for her!! she tends to hang around her cousin, maplepaw, who isn't as driven in her warrior training, and gossip about things going around in camp.

Backstory: herringpaw was born alongside salmonpaw to her mother riverthroat and her father swiftstar. in contrast with her excitable sister, herringkit was much more likely to stay in the nursery and cuddle up to her mother, who tended to prefer her calm demeanor over salmonkit's rambunctiousness. she looked down at her sister a little bit, believing herself to be the better daughter because she's so obedient and "mature" (though that doesn't stop her from slinging some playground insults when salmon bugs her a little too much, which riverthroat does scold her for). though... because she was by her mother so much she missed out on a lot of the fun salmon got up too, and she felt a flicker of something sour in her chest whenever a warrior brought back her sister from playing outside of the nursery, more often than not purring at her antics.

she was even reluctant to leave the nursery once she was of age to become an apprentice, sticking by her mother's side until the very last second when her name was called. and she was apprenticed to mean ol' rootsnarl! this is the worst ever! salmonpaw got the deputy as her mentor, why can't she get an important cat like that? the seeds of jealousy that were planted when she saw how salmonpaw got along with the other cats were beginning to sprout in her chest.

there’s no real easy way to say this, but herringpaw… does not like training. she’s not good at it and it’s too hard! plus, rootsnarl is such a bad mentor! he keeps pushing her and pushing her and then gets upset with her when she doesn’t perform well! plus, her sister is always beating her at brawling training, and it’s just not fair!! she hates apprentice training and she’d rather be at camp, like, fortifying walls or whatever… until she gets a thorn in her paw, at least.

but, it wasn’t all bad. she had her cousin, maplepaw, to talk with during patrols and she even started to develop a little crush on the boisterous olivepaw… and, she’s planning on asking salmonpaw to switch mentors soon. rootsnarl is too tough on her, and she’s already better than her at everything! it’s unfair that she gets the good mentor, and it’ll only be fair if she switches with her. and, riverthroat agrees that rootsnarl is too tough on her, so her sister should switch with her because mom said so!

all in all, currently, herringpaw isn’t having… a very good time…

salmonpaw!! ive been thinking about making a little allegiances page for my fanclans :3. she's first because she's the protagonist!

Personality: salmonpaw is a little spitfire of an apprentice! she's incredibly passionate about her warrior training, to the point that it's a little obnoxious. or a lot obnoxious, according to her sister. she often tries to show off in front of her clanmates, and often gets in over her head. that's not to say she isnt good at her training, though! she practices very hard every day, and the results show for themselves. she's a great runner and hunter, though her mouth runs before she has a chance to think, so she's not great on patrols. her rivalry with olivepaw, another apprentice in thunderclan, just fuels her competitive tendencies.

Backstory: salmonkit was born to riverthroat and swiftstar along with her sister herringkit in thunderclan! from the moment she opened her eyes, salmonkit was energetic. she always wanted to play games, all the time, much to the chagrin of her more laid-back sister and her exhausted mother. she constantly wants to leave the nursery and go explore camp, and when she gets dissatisfied with that, she wants to sneak out of camp entirely! she did manage, once, but was attacked by a fox that tore her ear off. thankfully a warrior was nearby to hear her screeches and save her, and while the experience humbled her for a time, by the time her wound scarred over she was all energy, all the time again.

by the time she was apprenticed, everyone was eager to get her out of the nursery. she excitedly touched noses with the deputy, frostfury, nearly bruising them with her eagerness. she took pride in the fact that her father apprenticed her to the deputy, feeling like she ought to prove herself and impress him as soon as she started training! he wasn't in the nursery much, so she felt like this is a chance to get closer with him!

sadly, he died to a greencough outbreak that swept through camp a few moons later, and salmonpaw was devastated. though, not exactly for the reason that other cats think. she was sad for her father, of course, but she never really knew him, and she also felt guilty that she didnt feel as bad as she thought she ought to feel. in an effort to push it out of her mind, she threw herself into her warrior training harder than ever in an effort to appease his spirit in the absence of her grief.

she never lost her energetic attitude, however! she's still the same confident, happy, and slightly too intense cat she's always been, for better or for worse. she's made a lot of friends, but she's also drawn the ire of some of her own clanmates. in present day, she's just trying her hardest to hit her training goals and complete her warrior assessment, but something dark is lingers at the edges of camp and the hearts of her clanmates...
