For Charity: Have you and your parents met Launchpad's family? Are you and Loopey like best friends?
(Also will the Mcquack family make an appearance in the fanfic soon?)
This answer had a long wait, but I'm finally getting to it. Here's Launchpad's family as is my headcannon/in my fanfic arc TSoF:
Tumblr media
Top left: Ripcord McQuack, Age 61. He owns a stunt plane entertainment show (which he started with his buddies) and also a flight school. However, due to his age and some vision problems due to cataracts, he is being forced to retire from both. This has made him extremely grumpy lately, especially since all his kids are out of the nest and his wife works regularly, so he is stuck at home.
Top right: Birdie McQuack, Age 58. She met Ripcord when she was nineteen (he was 22) when she was flying pond-skippers in Alaska with her father. She had some unique skills as a flyer, and joined Ripcord's budding stunt plane show. Soon after, they got married and she became pregnant. After having four boys, she started studying up to be a commercial pilot. Launchpad came six years later as a surprise, but she was determined not to let that stop her. She flew short commercial flights with small planes (night shift only) out of Duckburg until Launchpad was old enough to go to school before she signed up with a larger commercial airline.
Middle left: Contrail McQuack, age 37. As the oldest, he took on the family business happily, and loves being a stunt pilot and a teacher at the McQuack flight school. He is married with two daughters of his own. He is ten years older than Launchpad and had the least amount of interaction with his youngest brother. Contrail is the impatient sort and has struggled in his role as a teacher in the flight school. His first student was Launchpad, and he often yelled a lot during their lessons. And while Launchpad tried his hardest to learn and not crash, eventually Contrail refused to teach his little brother any more. However, since then and becoming a father himself, he has learned more patience and how to be a good teacher. He has reconciled with Launchpad although he still refuses to give him another lesson or to fly with him.
Middle right: Mach McQuack, age 36. Mach is a natural flier, which made his parents very proud. However, instead of going into the stunt plane business, he joined the air force right out of high school and fought over seas for several tours. He was a bright and energetic child, but after coming back from serving, he became serious and contemplative. And while he has been released from duty serving, he is still employed by the airforce to test experimental jets. Out of all his brothers, Launchpad has the best relationship with Mach. Mach looked out for LP, spent time with him, went camping with him, etc. They were both Jr. Woodchucks, and did a lot of things together despite the age difference. He is also married and has three children, two boys and a girl.
Bottom Left: Turbulence "Lance" McQuack age 33. Lance is the black sheep of the family in the fact that he gets airsick. Ripcord tried to "fly it out of the boy" by constantly taking him up in a two-seater, but it never worked. In fact, it caused a rift between Lance and his father. They constantly butt heads and argue. Because of the tension, Lance graduated early from high school and went to medical school. At the moment, he is a general surgine on the other side of the country and rarely visits since it involves flying. He and Launchpad are very different, but that didn't stop Lance from being a good brother. He was the one who helped Launchpad with his homework and encouraged him to be something other than what his parents wanted. And while Launchpad understood he didn't have to be a pilot because his parents were one, that didn't stop him from wanting to be one. But he does understand what Lance was trying to do for him. Even though Lance doesn't have a good relationship with the rest of his family via phone and social media. He is currently engaged.
Bottom Right: Crosswind McQuack, age 33. Crosswind was the McQuack wildchild, the one that Ripcord and Birdie worried about the most. He was into everything and constantly coming back with bruises and scrapes. He had gotten used to be the youngest until Launchpad came around when he had turned six. And for a lot of his life, Crosswind resented Launchpad, especially when Birdie went back to work and he was expected to be the baby-sitter. He was constantly getting Launchpad in trouble, telling him scary stories, teasing him and getting his youngest brother to perform dangerous stunts. Around the age of 14, he started running with a bad crowd, got into trouble with the law, drank and used some drugs and did a lot of dangerous stuff. He crashed several cars and planes without permission, got some peircings and tattoos and was doing poorly in school. Not knowing what else to do about him, Ripcord and Birdie sent him to reform school hoping that it would shape him up. Surprisingly, it did, one of the school's success stories. He graduated from High School a year late, but he had something to work for. He wanted to fly, but not airplanes. He became obsessed with becoming an astronaught and wanting to fly spaceships. He worked hard, went to a decent college and eventually got himself in the space program. Although he has yet to fly a spaceship, he is scheduled to do so soon. He still has a rough appearance with his long air, a pierced beak and tattooes, but he's cleaned up his act a lot. It's because of him that Launchpad knows how to crash with limited damage. He also taught Launchpad how to drive...at the age of twelve.
That's the McQuack family. I'm sure many of you are asking, "Where is Loopy?" I understand that she is cannon McQuack family from the old show, but I had this idea of Launchpad growing up in a boys only household and being the youngest. It's why he treats Charity like a younger sister because he always wanted to be a big brother.
But for you Loopy fans, don't worry, she's going to show up eventually. I have plans to bring Loopy in.
As for Charity's relationship with the McQuack family, since she and Launchpad were best friends since 6th grad (7th for Launchpad) to present day (Charity is 25 and Launchpad is 27), she has been to his house frequently and knows all his family. Launchpad's parents were rarely home, busy with their jobs, so hanging out at Launchpad's house was their usual during their teen years.
By the time Charity came into the picture, Contrail was a grown-up and working for Ripcord, but he still lived at home since he worked for Ripcord. For the most part, he ignored both Charity and Launchpad but as all of them grew older and matured, he talked more to them. Mach was already in the airforce when Charity met Launchpad, but the times he came home, Launchpad was excited for Charity to meet his favorite brother, and the two got along well enough. Lance tutored Launchpad a lot, but was leaving for college when Charity came into the scene, and Charity stepped in to fill that role in helping Launchpad. She rarely got to see Lance, but she liked him right away despite him being a bit stand-offish. As for Crosswind, he was around the longest with Charity, and often was a jerk when she hung out with Launchpad. Later on, whenCharity was more grown up and getting out of her awkward years, he hit on her frequently. It was the first time Launchpad stood up to his big brother and even gave him a black eye. Soon after that, he cleaned up his act.
For the most part, Charity didn't have much interaction with the McQuack family, but she heard a lot about them from Launchpad.
Thanks for the request. That was a fun one.
