21. "Oh, love. What have you done to yourself?"

            Mumbo squeezed his eyes shut tight as Scar’s hands ghosted over his body. A wave of nausea came with the magic glittering over his skin. A noise he couldn’t place passed between his lips and he groaned and tried to roll away from Scar.

            "Oh, love. What have you done to yourself?" Scar asked, taking a deep breath as a he leaned in close to the vampire’s face. Mumbo’s eyes were dilated, his skin clammy, and Scar shook his head, leaning back onto his knees. He rolled up his sleeve and pressed his wrist into Mumbo’s mouth, much to the vampire’s dismay. With a shove, he tried and failed to get Scar away.

            “You need fresh blood if you’re going to clear this out of your system,” he mutter softly into Mumbo’s ear, other hand stroking through his hair. “It’s alright.”

            “Not the wrist-“ Mumbo rasped, shaking his head. “It’s too-“

            “Not right now, it isn’t,” Scar said, leaning to look directly down at Mumbo. He took a deep breath. “Drink.”

aah!! happy valentines day @stitchthesewords !!! oh goodness gracious i cant express how proud i am of this drawing by no means is it perfect but,, i read through the rift Au and when i tell you i loved it let me tell you i loved it so much mWAh among my top two fics!! anywho i couldnt help but draw these three because who can resist a little mumscarian on valentines day!! i absolutely love the idea of grian being the african gray parrot and !!! i had so much fun drawing elf scar hes so <333 yeah!! i do have,, i did wind up doing some sketches for like,, at least four of the other hermits if they were in the rift au, gonna post those when i finish all of them + i'll b sure to tag you!! i cant express how much i loved drawin these little fellas n remembering to include bits from the fic <333 theyre just so lovely n you wrote them so detailed!!! have a lovely valentines day <33 (just now realized i didnt sign these >:( silly me) (oh and i have no clue how to do cuts but at this rate it'll prob be below the cut, i'm gonna add in the background bc i did nOT listen to the oh hellos on repeat for four hours for that background to go unnoticed (not that i'm complaining i love the oh hellos but anyway))

a little doodle comic of my rift au that i lost steam for after the last panel LOL

miyabino uses the rift to go back in time to meet his commander when he was his age!  kidou is obviously confused and doesnt believe miyabino at first when he tells him he’s from 10 years in the future, but once he sees photos of himself as an adult he starts to realize miyabino’s telling the truth :] and they hang out and talk for a while

Alright im rambling about rift au now because ive finally started it and i dont want to send an ungodly ammount of ask to @stitchthesewords

Second part 1st chapter

ok so im back with another au and its very self indulgent. so i love time travel shit right. well i made this oc who is a time traveler specifically for ina11 for the purpose of the go kids interacting with the og kids. like thats the whole purpose of the oc and the au

its different from chrono stone in that the time traveler--named blink--has a device that basically creates rifts in time that dont affect the main timeline at all and are simply pockets of time created just for that rift. can you tell ive played xenoverse 2 a lot

anyway so blink gives them the rift device as a gift and theyre able to enter time rifts at any point they choose--with supervision of course!  

so for MY purposes, the kids tend to go to the past to see the origins of their favorite coaches and players!  for example shindou, tenma, and tsurugi go to the very first soccer match between raimon and teikoku in order to see endou’s very first god hand and raimon’s very first point!  tsurugi is confused as to why gouenji isnt playing but then gets super hype when gouenji walks onto the field..theyre surprised to see how cruel kidou is under kageyama’s command, and theyre also surprised to see how truly awful kageyama himself is compared to the coach they experienced with inazuma japan (in galaxy)

so in summary, the rift au as i like to call it takes place after inago galaxy and has the sole purpose of allowing me to indulge in the go kids meeting the og kids lmfao. thats it. thats the whole premise. have fun with me

The visions of other timelines invading their dreams and sticking there, haunting them with what could have been.

Soft laughter ripples across the world.

There's a book open in his hands. The words are simple, and he points to each one as he reads. A tiny hand mimicks him, almost too young to start understanding what it means.

There's a weight in his lap. Soft black hair tickles his neck as the little figure leans back against him. There's a little girl in his lap. He's teaching her how to read. No... he's reading her a bedtime story, the teaching is just a side effect.

She yawns.

The little hand stops following along and his voice gets softer... and softer as she curls up.

He finally looks down at her as he ends the story, and her little brown eyes blink sleepily up at him.

A little girl. His little girl...

His leg suddenly jolts.

He's staring at the ceiling. The lazy spin of the ceiling fan is far from being the little glowing plastic stars on a toddler's bedroom.

He sits up. He's in the same place as always. The shitty half empty apartment he shared with Mizho.

There is no little girl. Or there was... just not here. In that other timeline.

So many of these visions have come and gone since the opening of the rift... He doesn't know why that's the one that breaks him. It was just... such a perfect little happily ever after...

He cries. He doesn't know why. Or rather... he does... but it makes no sense. It was never his to have, it belonged to that other him... but it felt like it had been ripped away.

He'd never meet that little girl.

And it hurts so goddamn much.

I'm back! Kinda! Did you miss me I hope you did - I come bearing gifts of the Rift! Convex variety below the cut. No warnings, I don't think.

 The sun was a deep warmth on Scar’s back as he gently stroked his fingers through Cub’s hair. They were grey and sharp, betraying his own comfort of being around his soulmate. Vex elders be damned, he deserved this.

Cub’s soft snoring stopped some time ago, but Scar didn’t really take note of it. If he wanted to lay in bed pretending to be asleep for just a little bit longer, that was his prerogative. A vex wing stretched over Scar’s chest, draped loosely over bare skin. This felt right to Scar. Blatantly.

He should be allowed to have this always. He knew Cub would, eventually, decide they were too close. That they were being too risky. Flee in the night like the vex he was, disappear ever again. Scar wished he could convince Cub he could keep both of them safe. They had Mumbo, they had friends in high places, they had the whole town. What trouble Scar experienced over the years was miniscule at best.

Deep and piercing green eyes settled over Scar’s features and whatever he had been worried about melted from his mind. Cub was one of the most beautiful people Scar ever saw, and he’d seen many of them over his multitude of lifetimes. His vex said nothing but gave a little groan of awareness. Scar smiled.

“Hello there, my world,” he said. Fondness rumbled in his chest like thunder. He got another little groaned laugh as Cub moved closer.

“My end…” Cub muttered softly into the fabric of the bed, letting Scar move to follow. He found Scar’s hand and pressed a kiss to the back of it. “You know, I think it’s a little early to be staring at me.” Cub’s voice was soft, ladened heavy with sleep. Scar moved, wanting to breathe the same air as his counterpart.

Cub shifted now, reaching and brushing Scar’s hair from his eyes. By their centuries together, Scar could tell he was being studied. For what, it didn’t matter. There was no way to tell what Information Cub was after or what he wanted to use it for.

He rolled forward and pressed a kiss, soft but deep, into Cub’s mouth. The hand that was gently brushing hair away tightened its grip and Scar let out a soft sound.

Cub pulled back, smug and sure as he turned his attention away from Scar. “Tree’s growing in nice,” he said. His tone was casual, as though he was talking about the weather. The hand remained in place. Scar nodded against the slight tugging at his scalp.

“Yeah – yeah.” Scar couldn’t keep the affected tone from his voice, something turning sharp and possessive right at the end. “Should be a good home in a few years, with the right touch of fae magic. Mumbo is looking for his own place so, you know, could be nice and private-“

“Don’t you think that’s a little too obvious.”

Scar’s chest panged. The same breath that carried those words saw Cub’s hand drop from his hair. Cub’s face was more serious now, as he watched the town come to life outside the window. Whatever moment they were having was over.

“I think it would be good to grow roots! Set up something to protect ourselves. And with Mumbo’s help-“ Scar couldn’t keep the desperation out of his voice as his Body followed Cub, tensing and drooping all the same.

“I have to go.” Cub drew from the bed quickly, moving fast to leave no room for argument. Scar’s throat made an involuntary noise of protest, but he knew better than to argue the issue. Stronger.

Still, he followed Cub, leaving the warmth of the bed to press one last and desperate kiss to his partner. “Be safe,” he begged. He did not notice if Cub nodded before watching the vex creature take shape and disappear in a mere second.

The thing is, they can both probably exist in the seperate Parables the exact same way as they did before, but something felt off because that was not their companion. It wasn't the same person. So they will both go through so much pain and hardship to find each other. The only thing keeping them going is the hope that the other is out there, also searching

The scarf and the tie are reminders that there's someone out there, wanting to find them
