See, I’m not native in English, and due to some less than stellar experiences in the past. Writing fanfictions is very intimidating for me, I don’t think I have what it takes to write them. As such, roleplaying is the closest thing I have to doing fanfictions. I like the fact I can do that with someone else, it makes writing in English way less stressful to me.

What is the muse that you write for the longest?

// Technically speaking, that would be my Richter Belmont. I got to write him a bit, when I made this blog. Since this was supposed to be a single-muse blog, I had hopes of rebooting him and getting back into the Castlevania rpc. But that seems to be very dead around here. So, unfortunately Richter has been collecting dust more than anything.

Because of that, Gym leader Morty is now my oldest muse. I first picked him up all the way back in 2017. I wrote him for 3 years straight, then took a break from Pokemon in 2020. And kinda of got back into it in 2022! So he has been with me for about 3-4 years.

Do you still write your first muse?

// Not at all. I’m not even associated with the first RPC I first got into either. I’ve abandoned that muse in 2017, when I picked up Richter as a muse for the very first time. That was my getaway, from that RPC.

// That was an OC! I actually used to be an exclusively OC rper, until I moved into Tumblr. The OC was a fan-made child, for a ship I was really into back in 2016, from League of Legends. I thought that would be a good choice to start and kick things off in the tumblr RPC, but I quickly learned that wasn’t the case.Despite that, I was quick to adjust and learn my way around. And the OC stuck with me for an year within that RPC until I left it for good!

The Beauty of Alucard's Arsenal

Alucard, the son of Castlevania's canonical Satan and the second half of the face of the metroidvania genre. A cult gaming icon. Symphony of the Night is a roleplaying game but the weapons in the game aren't just numbers. There are various weapon types, each suited for a specific playstyle. The beauty of Symphony of the Nights weapons is that it's not about how hard they hit but how comfortable they are to you the player.

First we have the classic one handed sword. These can be short swords or just a little longer. This is Alucard's preferred weapon type and mine's as well. They only take up one hand slot so you can have a potion, food, or shield in the other hand. They boast fast attack speed and great overal damage per second but lack range. Unless the sword has some added flair effect that extends the hitbox, a generic short sword won't go far.

Next we have the dagger weapons. Lots of these are found in the JP version of SOTN but they boast very fast attack speed. They have more range than your fist but lack any decent damage (which the attack speed makes up for) and suffer range.

Then there are the longswords. They take up two hand slots. They have high damage, high range and their attack speed is okay at the cost of some poor endlag. Lots use this heavy handed style of play and a lot of the swords in this subclass are very unique swords like the Muramasa, the bloodthirsty sword.

Then there are the clubs. A mixture of flails, hammers and rods; these are very unique weapons in that they do something special with a command input. They are essentially short swords but they could shoot a lazer out of the tip for example. The shield rod in particular is perhaps the strongest weapon in the game when paired with the Alucard shield. They also contain attributes like holy which adds more damage against enemies that are weak to holy.

Fist weapons are very niche and it takes a great player to utilize them during the early stages of the game. They attack very fast and do good DPS but you will constantly be in the enemies face so one wrong move and you're taking damage.

Throwable Swords. Some swords in the game you will actually throw out as a projectile. One of my favorite and rarest swords in the game, the heaven sword, is a throwable projectile. The best part about these swords is that endlag practically doesn't exist. You can move freely and throw them out.

Projectiles like chakrams, stars, boomerangs and bombs are available to equip. They are usually limited but do very high damage. A stick of dynamite will do great damage or clear a room but you may only have one in your inventory.

Summons are an underrated and underutilized tool in SOTN. You can find monster vials which count as off hand, limited use items. They summon whichever monster is contained in that vial and they will fight for you.

Shields are shields. They're an off hand that you can equip. They block certain projectiles and give you a better overall defense. Each shield when used with a shield rod will do something entirely different so experiment.

Then there are the limited use screen wipes. The bombs of the game that act as something similar to a Star Fox bomb, a Classicvania Crucifix or a Devil May Cry holy water. Their intention is to clear tye screen but their locations and presence in the game are very limited. You can run out of ever finding some of these again if you've used all of them the game provided. They are equipable off hand.

I won't go over things like the various armor in the game, potions/buffs or the spells. I feel I can save those for other posts. The freedom of expression in weapon choices give SOTN this variety of gameplay. It's not just a number game. If i'm not used to the endlag of a longsword after using short swords for an hour, there's going to be some hurdles to jump over.

Last but not least, the subweapons. The fact that the subweapon system still exist in a game like this is very interesting. The subweapon system, for the Belmonts, are given to them to help compliment the whip and cover it's weak areas (Ex. the Belmonts can't usually whip directly up so you use an axe). It's a very very simple concept but has intricacies of strategy. Giving this system to Alucard, who's arsenal covers almost every option on the game for him, won't utilize it as much as a belmont. Though there are still some very useful subweapons. At the start of the game, the axe will be amazing since your lack of attacking anything above you will hurt you. The bible can be a nice subweapon. For Alucard it acts as a moving barrier around him (think strider's ouroboros from MvC). The dagger has it's very specific niches for the early game and the new subweapons like rebound stone and agunea are great for just throwing out and added damage. The Cross in SOTN is an itemcrash only subweapon, which means when Alucard uses it, he won't get that classic boomerang cross but instead, the screen wiping grand cross of Richter. As for my favorite, of course it would have to be the stopwatch. It will freeze weak enemies in place and slow down stronger ones to a near halt. It will even freeze some early bosses like doppelganger. Stopwatch and cross will consume the mist hearts to use. The only subweapons that are if no use to Alucard is the sacred ash and holy water. Holy water's damage is redeemable but the area of effect of the water is so small that it makes it useless in many scenarios. As for sacred ash, it is probably the worst subweapon in the entirety of the series since all it does is leave small little projectiles on the floor that do very little damage. Both are grounded subweapons with no real merit. Alucard can attack down so you won't need them.

I incline all players to really delve deep into Alucard's weapon here so that you can appreciate Soma's intricacies as well later down the line.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐖𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐘-𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓 𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐘.     as alucard has lived a long, long life, he has gathered many experiences up to this point. looking at his life in the modern era (anywhere from 2000~2021+ in this headcanon), its pretty important for me to outline where exactly he is and what he is doing. as i am divergent, and don’t ENTIRELY follow the game series going from post-sotn, i have some of my own ideas for who alucard is.   

huge disclaimer: to any cv blogs following that are from ecclesia onward, the story of the more recent games is neat and all, but to be honest, i don’t vibe with it 100% of the way. a lot of it has to do with the debatable canonicity, but also the fact that i don’t want to write aos and dos stuff all the time. which, to be honest, takes place in the future so i don’t have to! in my opinion, i don’t actually super like bloodlines because... well, i’m a dracula nerd, and it kind of takes dracula lore in a really weird way. therefore, in my canon, for roleplay purposes, the whole aos and dos storylines are kind of warped except for the idea that alucard would absolute be buddies with the entire belmont family tree past richter. but that’s framing up to be a whole different topic to talk about at this point.

𝟏.   𝐃𝐇𝐀𝐌𝐏𝐈𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐌     :     in the modern era, vampirism and the occult is often times more depicted as an ancient superstition, and even so is still considered monstrous and an idea of horror, so, outside his connections to the belmont lineage, the idea of him being a dhampir is largely under disguise. starting from around the edwardian era, alucard has largely been disguising himself in the image of his father, adopting less “flashy” form in order to keep himself out of the public eye. however, being insanely tall and beautiful, that doesn’t keep eyes off of him. there are a few he has met in his years who he has shared his existence with, but for the most part, he does not disclose this at all, and goes to efforts to keep it a secret. in the twenty-first century, alucard’s dhampirism is almost indetectable, unless sourced by those who can sense such things. his teeth are straight, not pointed, hair is to his shoulders, and a dark, black color, and his eyes are also black, not yellow. he does not utilize his powers the same way he had in the past, and makes an effort to not display any of his true strength or speed. even in the comfort of knowing company, he is quiet, calm, and does not “relax” this effort of disguising himself. it’s become natural, and he feels nearly human.

𝟐.   𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐀𝐒     :     in almost a nod to his parentage, alucard’s aliases range in many ways. his most-used name, the one known by the belmont family and often used in introducing himself to others, he is called  alucard cronqvist,  using his father’s family name. he never uses adrian, and, to this day, the only people awarded the right to even use it remain to be his mother, his father, and trevor belmont. adrian is not his “true name,” but a person he no longer is. he is alucard, and that is his “true” name. other aliases he is known to use are often variants of the first names  alucard, mathias/matyas, or auguste   and the surnames   cronqvist, kardos, and belmont.     for now, he does frequently use the moniker  a. cronqvist  in his daily dealings.

𝟑.     𝐎𝐂𝐂𝐔𝐏𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍     :     other than the fact that he helps slay beasts that mean to do humankind harm? his occupational income sees more charity than it does his own wallet, to be honest, but he does has a “job.” i say job, but lets be real, alucard does not have a job. even if the idea of him working at mcdonalds is really funny. the belmonts are fairly self-sufficient in terms of money, and being their eternal patron, alucard has never asked for much for them. he has his own income, and he has been building it since the 1800s, mostly by... establishing himself then as a land-owner, and still, to this day, does manage this land acting as the descendant owner. the land is fairly old, and well-kept, and alucard does not disclose where each lot is, but it is well-maintained. several of his locations are used as wedding or tourist destinations, while some are still lived-on today, and he has both sold and acquired much property in his life. not using the money for many of his means has allowed this to accrue greatly, and, given that he lives fairly humbly, with some exceptions, he really has become a quiet, unbothered king.

𝟒.     𝐇𝐎𝐁𝐁𝐈𝐄𝐒     :     there are times when alucard is too busy to do much else, but when he does have any free time, it is usually spent continuing a passion of his father and his own from the old, old days: the pursuit of knowledge. alucard’s patronage of the arts is unending, and as for material knowledge, he does frequently find new things to study, if not dive deeper into the things he already has interest in. he is a professional in no field, but possesses knowledge in small amounts for many, many fields: however, places where he is best suited are usually in the realms of science and associated humanities. in the latest decade, alucard has continued his passion for science, and can often be found somewhere, somehow associated with latest advancements in medicine.

𝟓.     𝐅𝐀𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐎𝐍     :     while seeing alucard dressed to the nines in his traditional wear would be wonderful, he, sadly, does not dress the same way he did centuries ago. it’s a pity. in the modern era, alucard tends to keep himself immaculately dressed, having a weak spot for finery, which means that jewelry, brocade, and leather are all still very much high on his list of vices. on the average day, he can be found wearing fine suits, a few rings, a necklace, a bracelet, and a watch, all impossibly expensive. when not working, or making any public appearances, even in the comfort of his own home, he tends to spoil himself in rich fabrics, long silken robes, articles of clothing purchased right off the latest designs that suit his fancy. it is pretty shallow of him... but shiny things just really draw his eye, and feel so nice on his skin.

14. What is your opinion on formatting, editing and icons within the community? How do you style your own, do they differ from muse to muse?

// I feel like the RPC focuses way too much on the formatting and appearance, at times. The mentality that formatting and having fancy graphics, means that the person is a “quality” RPer is downright stupid and silly. And from my experience, they are often used to try and cover the fact that the mun’s focus isn’t, really on the writing aspect of RPing. It should be reiterated, I’ve got nothing against them. But I sure as hell don’t wish to assosciate myself with them.

With that said, I’ve also got my own fair share of “fancy” graphics and I try to come up with things that moreor less reflect the character it will be used for. The most common thing I use for my PSDs is to, highlight a prominent color on the character. My icon style also changes depending on the fandom, I’m in!

With the exception of Noah’s PSD, I’ve made all of my PSDs by myself!

My pokemon muses PSDs made back in 2020! Since I’m rarely there, I didn’t feel the need to change them.

With the exception of my Richter Belmont, I decided to save some time and used whatever I came across. The credits can be found on his about doc.

18. What draws you to roleplaying as a hobby? What do you find fun?

// Since very early on my time in the internet, I’ve always wanted to get into fandoms. But I never had any luck while doing so! All my attempts back in deviantart were in vain, I wanted to find others to ramble about the series I was into but... I never had any luck of being noticed.

Then many years later, I joined tumblr and found out about the RPC side of it. And for the VERY first time, I felt like I had a place that I could interact with others under the same premise! I get to talk about and share my ideas, then get feedback on them!

I feel like I’ve finally been noticed, somehow.

Out of all my muses, he is my most well-developed one atm. I just wished I had the time and the energy to sit down and actually finish his about page, but he definetely is the most complete out of all the muses I am currently playing.

Pryce quickly grew even more on me, thanks to the whole plot of dysfunctional League that I have going on with Morty. Pryce is here to show a side of Morty, that I can’t while in this blog. In the end they compliment each other a lot + I needed a wholesome story, It is really fun to explore and think on Pryce’s family which is briefly mentioned in the games.

And things quickly escalated with the release of the 1st season from the animated serie on netflix........And with that, it brought a large amount of toxic people, who 9/10 didn’t even know about the real source material. RIP CV fandom.

Richter Belmont (2017): I picked him up when I fled from the League of L.gends RPC. He was a MUCH NEEDED break from all the shit, I was going through in the previous community I was in. I joined in a time when the Netflix serie, had yet to be announced. So the number of active blogs there was like... even less than 10. I have many fond memories of the community, everyone there was great and it was the place I met @systemstored​ / @fossilfused​ ! Who I’m friends with, to this DAY! I still have my old AF icons holy shit. Sometimes I think of picking him up again, just because I love Richter sm. But it just isn’t my style to pick up a character, then leave them without any real use. If I ever pick him up again, it will be because I want to get involved in the rpc and dedicate time for him.

Gym leader Morty (2017): So fun fact: I had no clue who Morty was, Retto had to introduce him to me through Sacr.edshipping (Eusine/Morty). And he is my oldest and most consistent muse, from the pokerpc. I just fell in love with this man, and bOI I’ve done so many things for him. There is no doubt in my mind, he must be the one muse I got to work on the most.

Seto Kaiba (2020): My most recent addition to my muses roster, and even though I’ve been writing him for about 2 months. I’ve got to develop/talk/etc do a ton of things, that I don’t think I got to experience in any of the previous RPCs I was in! I’m having a LOT OF FUN with him. He is definetely helping me, from feeling burned out.

☀ ━ how long have you been roleplaying? how did you get into it?

// So I believe I first joined the RPC back in 2015, I distinctively remember wanting to get out of Deviant.art. I was sick and tired of that place, the people I was hanging out with, etc.

I guess I always wanted to RP, but I never got to have anything serious or even heard that there was a community for it. Around this time I was into League of Le.gends, and someone I was talking to at the time introduced me to it.

I was quickly roped into it, at first I was writing as OCs then I quickly abandoned those for canon muses. I stayed in that RPC for about 2 years, I lost interest in the franchise and was tired of that RPC’s toxicity so I abandoned it.

1.What made you decide to roleplay this muse?

TBH it was @soulchased / @timecapscle who convinced me to pick him up, so we could go forth with these two. While they may no longer be as active, and we may have gone out of touch with each other. I can’t thank them enough for dragging me into the pokerpc, for helping me flesh Morty’s character out, and drag me into one heck of a shipping hell that I love to this day and cherish a lot!

I hope they are doing fine and are safe! I miss having them around! And Morty sure misses his main buddy/bf around.

2.Do you roleplay other muses?

3.Are there other characters you’re interested in rping or wish to? 

// Okay I admit. I do sometimes miss the CV rp fandom, meaning I sometimes feel like bringing my Richter Belmont muse back to life- especially with Smash being around the corner.

But then I look at everyone else, and my 9 muses. I immediately go:

// There are obviously my rping partners who we are always writing with each other!

But you know...Not with Morty. But I would love to see more elderly muses blogs around the block, so I can toss my elderly muses at them all!
