Rewriting Bolton History | Part 5 | Strengthening The Core
Bolton Wanderers pushed Chelsea all the way in Trebor Mahtal’s third season at the club, only missing out on their maiden English title on goal difference. And Mahtal was convinced that, with the right signings and a little more attacking intent, he could push beyond England’s big boys. The club was also heading in the right direction off the pitch with plans for a new stadium and £215m in the…

WIP Wishlist Round Eighteen
WIP Wishlists
Themed set this month: Only one chapter, still obsessed.
Of Tarth by SandwichesYumYum (8,763 words, first posted 24 Dec 2014)
Summary: Jaime Lannister/Brienne of Tarth. A dark fic. Please read the notes and consider all trigger warnings in play. Thank you kindly.
Things I Love: The world building, Jaime leading men (of the west, of Tarth, free folk) to rescue Brienne, all the questions the first chapter raises, Pod and Brienne’s reunion, how this premise haunts me.
Or die in the attempt by Zeta_Mei @zetaaa (1,209 words, first posted 12 May 2021)
Summary: Brienne realizes that Lord Bolton is planning to betray King Robb.
Things I Love: Brienne’s intelligence and competence as she works out Bolton’s betrayal, Jaime trying to take care of her while maintaining his sharp edges, his worry over her when she disappears, the potential of this premise, Brienne possibly having the chance to rescue Lady Catelyn.
she can’t be convicted, she’s earned her degree by aeemmmoor @kishibashiing (5,165 words, first posted 20 Nov 2022)
Summary: Cersei has always been the ambitious one. She followed doggedly in their father’s footsteps where Jaime meandered, did entrepreneurship workshops while he skipped classes. So when Tywin Lannister gives Jaime a prestigious position at the family company and consigns Cersei to a small women's liberal arts college, she comes up with a plot to turn the tables. Disguised as Jaime, she will take the job, proving to their father that she can manage the business, while Jaime, disguised as Cersei, will attend the college in her stead, dodging his father’s expectations.
Nothing bad could possibly happen as a result of this.
Things I Love: Jaime and Cersei swapping places, Cersei’s ambition, Cersei’s gender issues, how intrigued Jaime is by the plan but how strange it feels too, Cersei’s height, Tyrion’s response to everything, the obsessive love that does not lead to incest.
Rewriting History by Bellatrix_Wannabe_89 @lariskapargitay (1,748 words, first posted 22 April 2021)
Summary: When they told him his name was Jaime Lannister after he woke up from the accident with no memory, that felt right. When they told him he was a knight of the Kingsguard, that also felt right. But when the green eyed queen told him he was her lover, and that the tall blonde woman in her dungeon was a danger to the realm and had tried her best to destroy the unconditional eternal love he and Cersei shared… That didn’t feel right. That didn’t feel right at all.
Things I Love: Jaime’s dream with echoes of book canon, Cersei twisting his history with Brienne, Cersei’s vicious love familiar to him if not right, his growing fear of her cunning and cold danger.
Dead Romantic by winterstale24 (2,520 words, first posted 19 July 2022)
Summary: “Keep me true, Lady” he whispered into the chill air. “Help me be worthy.”
And he would be. But it was over 700 summers until he got the chance.
Things I Love: Jaime praying to the Maiden in the stars, Brienne the archaeologist, competent and smart even as she’s shy and slow to speak, Jaime recognising Brienne and treating her as his wench to her utter confusion, Jaime’s dialogue, the humour.

What happens when you deviate from the source material or reasons why GOT finale was bound to suck!
This season has been bad, the finale awful but keep in mind that this is the culmination for the series that went haphazard since season 5 really when they first deviated majorly from the books, the season from which GRRM stopped writing his mandatory one episode per season and also probably stopped consulting them or they stopped consulting with him. Either of the two.
With Sansa replacing Jeyne Poole, a minor character who impersonated Arya and was married to Ramsay in the books. This had major repercussions as the Great Northern conspiracy went out the window, even with the real deal on the show! The north isn’t sitting lazily cowering as the Boltons usurp the Starks and the Freys murder their men… especially when they learn the only remaining child of their beloved liege lord was forced into marriage for her claim and abused. They’re risking everything to protect Arya, for the love they have for Ned and the respect that the Starks have commanded for a thousand years.
There was no conspiracy against the Boltons and Freys and so it all fell to Arya to destroy the Freys in one fell swoop and even the way the Boltons were taken out was not even worth watching. We are supposed to believe that despite literally being Ned Stark’s actual children, as even Jon’s perceived to be at that point, Sansa and Jon are reduced to begging for support from the northern houses. And Ramsay, was able to outwit and almost crush Jon, a seasoned commander of the watch, a castle educated man who received the same education as Robb, Ned’s heir. This when Ramsay hadn’t been anything more than sadistic and cruel!!
Things went downhill from there because of reasons best known to D&D.
All that happened in season 8 is a culmination of lazy writing and shoddy scripting from the previous seasons. The ending isn’t satisfying because the characters aren’t true to their arcs. We are told Bran is worthy of being a king because he has all the stories to tell… because yes that’s what exactly you look for in a king, his ability to tell stories and because his story is one worth telling as well but we don’t just understand his story! Not the show version of it at least and this happens because a man who is known to have committed treason against his queen and killed his lord father says so, granted the father was an asshole and the queen went crazy but seriously is that the man you wanna be listening?! Think about it.
The show isn’t awful because it couldn’t deliver in its last season, it’s awful because it’s been failing since many seasons now and there’s no saving it. What people fail to perceive is that rewriting season 8 will do no good because the groundwork for it was laid in all the previous seasons we had.
Dany torching Kings Landing isn’t the problem, well it is, but more specifically how it happened over the why it did. We finally saw what is being built up in the books step by step in one major dump.
Northern independence is not the solution for the future but a step for more problems. Yara isn’t someone who can be cowered in the books into kneeling or submission and with Dorne’s history of what happened to their princess owing to a Stark they’d never submit to be ruled by one so easily either. This isn’t a peaceful resolution for anyone, if anything with two Starks holding the continent it’s a recipe for disaster despite it appearing seemingly pitch perfect.
Nothing can fix this season or this show because it went off the rails years ago and no matter how many people sign petitions or even if they succeed the ending would still make everyone dissatisfied because the foundations of the same were laid long back and it’s too late to shake off them now.

Mike Pompeo takes his own arrows over the Afghanistan collapse
Mike Pompeo takes his own arrows over the Afghanistan collapse
“Trying to extricate yourself from this withdrawal is I think difficult if not impossible to do, especially to rewrite history about what actually happened,” said former Trump national security adviser John Bolton, a prominent critic of his former boss’ Afghanistan policy. “I think that’s a prescription for Democratic attack ads that would be fatal to someone’s credibility.” Pompeo has been coy…

A historic season at Reebok Stadium saw Bolton Wanderers tie their all-time record league finish and reach a first European Final. Trump’s former national security advisor John Bolton says it’s ‘impossible’ for Mike Pompeo to ‘rewrite history’ on his negotiations with the Taliban
