Watch: Heavy rains in Valsad, Ahmedabad as Cyclone Ockhi heads to Gujarat

Mumbai received 22 mm of rainfall till 8:30 am today as Cyclone Ockhi moved towards south Gujarat.

Weather forecasters have said rains will reduce by tomorrow in India's financial capital with the cyclone set to move to Gujarat.

Strong surface winds will prevail over the region with wind speed ranging between 40-50 kmph, skymetweather said.

Meanwhile, Gujarat received heavy rainfall with Valsad receiving 25 mm rain along with Ahmedabad which received 9 mm of rain since Tuesday.

Several other areas in Gujarat including Surat, Junagad, Rajkot and Bhavnagar received moderate to heavy rainfall along with high-velocity winds with the speed of 40-60 kmph.

However, Cyclone Ockhi has been "rapidly weakening ever since it has been inching closer to the Gujarat coast", weather forecaster skymetweather said.

The weather system is set to weaken further and cross the Indian coast between south Gujarat and adjoining north Maharashtra near Surat by Tuesday night.

Weathermen expect "light to moderate rains" to continue over south and central Gujarat with the intensity subsiding from Wednesday.
