King and Joker
The bats were confused when Joker announced he gained a companion. His partner (or sidekick) is strong and has too many powers but looks sad. They tried to ask him if something was wrong but he remained silent. Joker liked to call him "The King", but he insisted that he was only "Phantom". The clown didn't care and continue with the nickname.
"King Phantom" tends to ignore when civilians are evacuated, feign ignorance when someone tries to escape, and has offered the bats bandages and medicine a couple of times. But when The Joker is present he becomes completely desperate and aggressive, as if he is fighting for something.
On the other hand, Joker got a completely new weapon, it was a green sphere that produced lightning but Phantom winced every time he saw him use it. On one occasion Tim swore he heard him whisper "Ellie".
Danny was scared, Ellie was unstable and anything he did could be fatal. When he arrived in Gotham looking for her missing core he didn't expect to find it in the hands of a clown. The clown realized that he had something to bribe him (although he didn't know how important it was) and began to order him around.
Danny hated it, he held back most of the time because he was fighting humans, not revealing many of his powers. And he would have killed the clown a thousand times if it weren't dangerous for Ellie. Joker would never break away from the core by saying it was "good luck", and would lock it in a ghost-proof cell, which is probably where he found it originally. The halfa just wanted his the girl back.

I'm curious, what is False's skill set? Do they throw cards? Spin dash? Does Shadow have a gun on him at all times? Can Shadow phase through walls? Does Sonic utilize his speed? Does he even have his record breaking speeds here? On another note, what's the difference between Sonic and Shadow's theft styles as False? You said KID's approach during the Legendary Cue heist was similar to Sonic's. Can you please go more in depth about that? And what about Shadow? He doesn't seem like the type to put on a show. Do Sonic and Shadow have joint heists sometimes where they help each other get the prize? If there's more than one treasure they need, do they split up? Would someone realize that False either has an assistant or is actually two people? Does the public/police recognize the difference in suits between Sonic and Shadow, if they even know that False has a black suit version? Do they think that the way False dresses dictates his mood? Like, white means he's got a show while black means that he's got no time for nonsense? (Not so subtly abuses the removal of the word cap on desktop)
ookay quite the thick ask there
Sonic specializes in Lockpicking, Sleight of Hand, and Misdirection! While his speed isn't as fast as canon's is, he's quick with his fingers and can still run pretty fast
Meanwhile, Shadow specializes in Espionage, Infiltration, and Disguise due to his convenient shadow powers. While he can't phase through walls per se, he can slip into any crack so long as there's a shade cast over it. He can't bring any items or people into the shdows with him though so once he's obtained the target he's still gotta figure out how to get out. No chaos control unfortunately. Plus, he's the one with those magic disguises so many phantom thieves use
Both of them can spin dash 👍
Sonic in my eyes is the type to treat heists like a magic show, capturing the audiences attention while hiding things he doesn't want seen. He's very good at lying, telling half-truths, and playing the fool to get the other person to react how he wants
he acts like a fool when he needs to, similar to how in the Legendary Cue Kid acted like a clown to get the audience to let their guards down
Shadow, on the other hand, prefers to get in and get out with no nonsense attached, although he will play as Sonic's 'stagehand assistant' when need be
Most of the time, their heists are joint heists, with both of them working together at the same time to steal the item. This mostly consists of them splitting up, then joining back together again when needed
If they're after multiple items of course they're gonna take advantage of the fact that False can appear in two places at once! And while at first most people don't have a clue, Investigator Amy and later Detective Knuckles figure it out bc they're so smart and observant
annnd for the most part I'm going by SA2 rules and stating that despite wearing completely different colored outfits the public and detectives can't see a difference! Eventually the handful of people who actively interact with False realize he acts differently depending on his mood (Knuckles, Amy, Rouge, etc.)
Sonic comes up with the excuse that the reason for the shift in behavior is because Sonic is "just a show personality" and behind the scenes he acts like how Shadow normally does
ty for being interested in my au! hopefully this clears some things up. and if you guys have any more au questions i'd love to answer them!!!!
