Battleship NEW JERSEY departing Camden, New Jersey for Philadelphia.
"What a historic day on the Delaware River! The tugs Beverly R. McAllister, McAllister Responder, Reid McAllister and Robert E. McAllister had the awesome responsibility of moving the battleship, USS New Jersey. It is the first time the New Jersey has moved in over 20 years. The famous floating museum is going to drydock to undergo maintenance and refurbishment.
The tugs, with over 14,000 hp combined, transited the ship from her longtime home in Camden, NJ south down the Delaware. On the route she passed under the renowned Walt Whitman Bridge before docking at Paulsboro terminal. Many American flags were seen flying along the route, saluting the most decorated battleship in US history as she sailed past.
Congratulations to McAllister Towing of Philadelphia, docking pilot Captain Joseph E. Benton III and the captains and crews of the tugboats in executing this momentous operation safely and securely. Bravo to you all!"

Hidden Gems of Philadelphia
Introduction
Philadelphia is a city of hidden gems. While it may seem like there's nothing to do in the city, there are actually many hidden gems that can be found all over the city that are simply not advertised. Whether you're looking for a place to go run or just want some peace and quiet, these hidden gems will give you exactly what you need!
Washington Square
Washington Square is a public park in the Center City area of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is an iconic symbol of Philadelphia, and has been called "the most celebrated urban square in America."
It was designed by William Penn's surveyor Arthur Humphreys. The square was later named after George Washington, who had been made president just before construction began on this and other squares.
The Barnes Collection
The Barnes Collection is a collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art. It was founded by Albert C. Barnes, an industrialist, art collector, and philanthropist who lived in Lower Merion Township, a suburb of Philadelphia. The collection has been housed in its current home since 1938 and features over 2,000 pieces by artists like Renoir, Matisse, and Picasso.
The museum also hosts rotating exhibitions from other institutions as well as educational programs for children (including an interactive gallery).
The Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center
The Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center is a museum located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and operated by the Philadelphia Water Department. The facility offers an interactive and educational experience that explores the history of water in the city.
The original Fairmount Water Works was built between 1812 and 1815 as part of a plan to provide clean drinking water to residents of Philadelphia. It consisted of three separate buildings: an engine house where steam engines pumped water into reservoirs; an ice house where ice cut from nearby lakes was stored; and another building that contained storage tanks for potable water (the "cold" reservoir). The site also featured extensive gardens with fountains fed by streams flowing down from hillsides above Mount Airy Forest (now known as Wissahickon Valley Park).
Eastern State Penitentiary
Eastern State Penitentiary is a former American prison in the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1829 and operated until 1971, housing prisoners for maximum security over a period of about 135 years.
The penitentiary refined the revolutionary system of separate incarceration first pioneered at the Walnut Street Jail which emphasized principles of reform rather than punishment. The site has been restored as a museum to reflect its revolutionary history and architecture, with guided tours led by costumed guides who may be actors portraying former inmates from its maximum-security period (the 1930s through 1970s).
Elfreth's Alley
Elfreth's Alley is the oldest residential street in America. It was founded in 1702 as a Quaker settlement and later became part of Philadelphia's first civic improvement project, which established it as an example of community planning. The alley has been recognized by numerous organizations for its historical significance and preservation efforts: it was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966, added to the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places in 1967, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.
Woodbury
Woodbury is a Borough in Gloucester County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 6,151.
Woodbury was incorporated as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 4, 1887, from portions of Deptford Township and Washington Township (now Laurel Springs).
Paulsboro
Paulsboro is a borough in Gloucester County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 5,146, reflecting an increase of 124 (+2.7%) from the 4,922 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 1 (+0%) from the 4,921 counted in the 1990 Census.
Conclusion
I hope you've enjoyed this little tour of Philadelphia's hidden gems. I know that when I travel, I love to find places that are off the beaten path and really unique. The city has so much history to offer its visitors--you just have to know where to look!
