[fanfic] Random Encounter

Miyako slumped down in the somewhat uncomfortable chair, glancing up just enough to be sure that she had time to rest before getting on the plane.

Another hour. She tapped Poromon where he rested in his carrying bag. “Let me know when it’s time, all right?”

“Of course!!” Poromon got himself settled so he could see the clock as well, then cast a brief glance back at her. “You close your eyes for a while. You’ve been running on fumes.”

Oh, how well she knew that. She knew what she really needed was to get something to eat and have a proper rest, but that wasn’t going to happen until she was in Spain. And not even immediately after the plane landed. She’d still have to get to her hotel room and let everyone else know that she’d arrived safely.

Traveling around the world satisfied an itch she’d never known was even there until she’d satisfied it by being outside of Japan on a regular basis. That trip she and Sora-san had taken to Russia all those years before planted the seed - now she was seeing it blooming.

There were probably Chosen around in Spain. She’d have to check on social media once she got the chance and see if she could arrange a meeting. She’d always loved meeting new Chosen and their partners.

Her eyes slowly began to slide together and she had no idea of how long she just sat there, breathing in and out, before someone else flopped down into one of the seats near her and a startled voice spoke out.

“Is that a Poromon? I’ve never seen one up close before!”

Miyako jerked her head up and glanced over. Sitting next to her now was a person of about her own age, with long bright blonde hair and equally bright green eyes, with a bag set by her feet and a brilliant smile across her lips as she regarded Miyako’s partner.

“Yes, I’m Poromon,” he introduced himself with a tiny nod. “And you are?”

“Orimoto Izumi,” the stranger declared, turning towards Miyako as she did. “I met Digimon when I was younger - don’t have a partner myself, though.”

“Inoue Miyako,” Miyako replied. “That’s too bad. Maybe you’ll get one one of these days?” After all, a lot more people were getting them, so it wasn’t that out there of an idea.

Orimoto chuckled a little. “I don’t know. I did have a - very special Digimon friend. Or friends. But I probably won’t be able to see them again.”

Miyako snorted. “You can always see your friends again. It might take some time, but it can happen.” She waved one hand. “I’ve been traveling for a while and I always end up back with my friends. Sometimes I have to call them or we do a video chat or something but we find a way to talk to each other.”

The blonde, who spoke Japanese with the tiniest trace of an accent, as of years spent somewhere else, nodded briefly. “You might be right. We’ve wanted to meet up again but it’s not always easy.”

“Doesn’t mean you stop trying.” If Miyako had stopped trying when things got difficult, then there was a whole lot that wouldn’t have happened that she was glad had happened.

“So where are you going? I’m heading back home to Japan.” Orimoto pulled out a brush and started to work it through her hair. Miyako liked the look of her hair; so long and bright and pretty. But blonde wouldn’t be a good look on her.

“I’m just leaving there. Heading for Spain.” Miyako resettled herself. The brief doze she’d had had done a lot to perk her mind up, as did talking to someone. “There are people I haven’t met there yet, and I just like traveling. It’s - it’s like flying.” And she didn’t mean in a plane.

Orimoto glanced over at her, and Miyako spied a glimpse of something in her eyes - understanding. Knowing.

“There’s nothing quite like flying,” she agreed, her voice a little wistful. “I wish - I wish we didn’t need planes to do it.”

Miyako couldn’t argue that point, even if she’d wanted to. She loved to fly with Hawkmon’s varied forms, feeling the wind blow against her and through her hair, his warm feathers under her hands. But that look in Orimoto’s eyes spoke of something slightly different, something she couldn’t pin down as well as she would have liked.

She wanted to ask about something else, when Poromon wriggled. “We need to go,” he told her. “It’s almost time.” A glance at the clock reaffirmed his words and she jumped up.

“Have fun on your trip!” Miyako told Orimoto. “And I hope you get to see your friends again sometime soon!”

“So do I,” the other agreed. “Enjoy Spain!” She waved as Miyako gathered her luggage and hurried off, making a mental note to look up the name Orimoto Izumi when she got the chance and see if she could find out anything else about her.

But that would be once she could sit down. For now, she just had to run.

Samples are ready !

I haven't received them yet, and these are photos from the manufacturer but I'm actually super happy with how they're turning out !

On the inside, I had the respective Digivice owners name written in the kana-based Digicode, and the back says "SPIRIT" in English Digicode like the base of the spirits from the show.

I'm actually going for the "universal" phone case design, based on some of my fave phone cases I've bought from Japan, so hopefully those who are interested will be okay with them. They'll come in 2 sizes, and you can slide the phone up to reveal the camera.

I was actually talking with my sister, and we were thinking of opening up for pre-orders once I confirm the samples so we can get orders going. We're still thinking about it though, so we might just go straight for a live sale instead since we're so new to this haha.
