What au is winged Gordon from?

That would be "Operation: Help Bubby and Gordon Escape Black Mesa"

It works with a wing au concept I actually have used for au in other fandoms before? But the whole concept is centered around the idea that people used to frequently be born with wings until those without them grew jealous and basically chased them off until it was rare to see anyone with wings anymore?

And those who do have then have the ability to hide them using a special kind of magic. On top of this they also tend to have one other magic ability they're able to use.

Anyway as a way to harness the power the winged had and also bring them back from "near extinction" Black Mesa starts this program in "Creating" them using various dna from both winged and alien alike.

Gordon is one winged subject made by Black mesa who managed to escape as a child after the scientist taking care of him went rogue. He gets re-caught by them later on when working there (unknown to them that hes the missing subject) and having to escape a dire situation. His wings are that of a Red-Winged Black Bird! He can use and read the sweetvoice.

And then Bubby is a wing subject super rushed in the process of making who didn't quite get as much time as Gordon to stabilize so hes kinda not nearly as perfect as Gordon is. Didn't get a childhood. Has uncontrollable Pyrokinesis, and can read the sweetvoice. His wings are that of a African Gray Parrot.

I also have just a standard Half Life version of the au that kinda follows the same idea, and I'll probably use that one a lot more in the long run, but the hlvrai idea is a fun concept too!

Crow you can't just say 'Forzen's a black mesa security guard' and then not explain please I need to know more

JFFJJDJDDJ Im sorry!

In "Operation: Help Bubby and Gordon Escape Black Mesa" (The Wing AU) Forzen was decided to be made a BM Security Guard. Both for plot reasons and also because I feel a little bad for frequently forgetting about Forzen in other AUs.

- He was born a winged. He has a charm that hides his wings. His wings resemble that of a Bornean Green Magpie.

- His special 'power' he gets with being winged is Invincibility "with a twist." Hes not always invincible. The way his Invincibility is very weird. I'd have to answer that in another ask bc its so weird to explain.

- Needed a stable job that payed okay and took up a security offer from Black Mesa despite it being dangerous due to him having the whole wing secret.

- Works as security primarily for the Wing Sector.

- He hardly speaks unless spoken to and tends to be kinda an ass when he is spoken to. But can you blame him? The BM Security job kinda sucks.

- Yes he still likes I Rate Gamer and Beyblades. You wouldn't really learn this unless you were a friend of his.

- Darnold and Tommy are both friends of his. Benrey is a security friend. They both constantly talk about how fucked up the wing sector is.

- He doesn't get along with Bubby for a good long while. Frankly, he doesn't really like Bubby specifically due to the fact that hes a result of Black Mesa's fucked up wing project. All that aside, he will often give Darnold and Coomer tips on how to properly care for Bubby's wings because hes obviously not doing it himself. Forzen will not tell them why he knows so much on wing care.

- If there ever came a point where he has to chose between doing what Black Mesa orders or protecting a group simply trying to escape, he'd side with that group. He is a winged after all. He would much rather protect the winged than let them continue to be harmed.

- Absolutely hates the security helmet. Doesn't like how it feels. Things frustrating to wear.

- Actually maybe I can explain the Invincibility thing a bit.

Forzen is invincible. He can not be hurt or harmed unless ofc you were to try and smother him. He just cant be physically hurt. Forzen however has the ability to pass on this Invincibility for specific amounts of time to others.

This means: If the group were in danger of being harme then Forzen has the option to 'pass on' his Invincibility to them while also having the downfall of making himself vulnerable for that same period of time.

This period of time can last from Ten Minutes to Five Minutes or less depending on how many people hes shared his power with.

Protecting others comes with the cost of putting his own life at risk.

So hes not impossible to hurt, hes only able to be hurt once hes protecting someone else from being damaged. This comes into play later on in the au.

Can you tell us more about the wing au?

Oh! Uh yeah sure.

The au itself is kinda funky. The fic I wrote for it was kind like set dead center of the au.

Gordon and Bubby are both science experiments made in black mesa ofc. Gordon would be considered perfect in every way, shape and form. Hes considered experiment 001. Because he was the first made. He escaped as a child with the scientist caring for him and came back years later to save any other subjects that may have been like him. Due to the winged's natural ability in using magic to hide their wings, no one thought of him of anything than just a simple scientist.

Gordons special ability in being winged is that hes an empath. Though hes more versed in projecting his own emotions than he is taking others in. Due to there also being alien dna in his winged dna he has the ability to use and read the sweetvoice. Because the sweetvoice ties so much into emotion it sorta cancels out his empathic abilities until his own emotions become too overwhelming in specific situations, such as what happened in the fic.

Bubby doesn't have an experiment number but he was made as a back up plan in case anything went wrong along with the other prototypes. He didn't get a childhood like Gordon had gotten and when Gordon's secret comes out he holds a lot against Gordon. Which...I mean its understandable, but its also not very fair. Bubby's not quite perfect. His got his sharp teeth, his weird claws, and to top it all off his wings are much too big for the rest of him. Totally disproportionate to his body due to the rushed process in being created.

Bubby's special ability in being winged is Pyrokinesis. Though again due to the rush in being created he can't properly control it. Sometimes when he feels a lil angry or frustrated anything from a desk next to him to his own feathers will catch flame without trying. Its very frustrating to work with and part of the reason his wings are a mess. He can also read but not use sweetvoice.

Tommy, Benrey, and Gman are all Alien. Tommy works on BM personally to be sure they get nowhere close to opening up a way to Xen. Benrey was once originally an alien held captive by Black Mesa and eventually escaped with the help of Tommy. He now works there disguised as a security guard to keep close eye on Tommy as a thanks to him saving him from the place. Benrey and Tommy can both shape shift as well as use and read the sweetvoice. Tommy is more familiar in being human than Benrey is. Benrey is closer to Gordon than Tommy is.

Darnold and Coomer are both scientists part of the project that creates the new winged like Gordon and Bubby for study. Coomer works mostly with Bubby and due to the situation these experiments are constantly put through, plus the countless prototypes and one injured Gordon as punishment, they both equally decide from a moral standpoint that they fucking hate this and work with Benrey and Tommy in finding a way to escape with Bubby and Gordon safely.

The ResCascade doesn't happen? Due to the building starting to fall apart they cut it short and Gordon has to save himself via flying away from the danger which is how his cover is blone. The ResCascade was initially planned by Tommy and Gman in attempts to destroy Black Mesa once and for all so it couldn't cause any further trouble or harm but,,,that failed so,,,

Its a weird au. Idk Im having fun with it.

How does Gordon's sweetvoice work in the wing au?

Thats a good question! Very similarly to Benrey's except his doesn't effect other people if they inhale/eat it. Because hes an empath, it sorta cancels out that ability of the sweet-voice much like the sweet-voice canceling out most of his empathic abilities.

Gordon's sweet-voice readings also aren't subjected to only rhyming as well. If he were to use it, it could come out a specific flower color and have that flowers meaning instead. In one of the doodles I did there was dandelion and a scribble of him saying he had it hard for a couple o' aliens. Dandelions when gifted to someone could mean happiness and complete faithfulness, which is a lot for this particular Gordon considering what he goes through.

Gordon's sweet-voice again, because hes an empath, can also come out with how others are feeling and not at all what hes feeling. I use that at one point in my writing actually!

He doesn't have full control of the sweet-voice either. Sometimes he can just use it when he wants to and other times if his emotions are overwhelming enough the sweet-voice just happens on its own. That, again, is used in one of the fics!

Long story short Wing!AU Gordon, for the HLVRAI AU, is a total disaster ball of emotion who cant control when his weird inherited alien abilities take over and its been a lot of fun exploring the idea of how the sweet-voice n empathic abilities would work with and against each other.

i think one of the best small details in the winged au is just Gman frequently asking Tommy "So can we start the Resonance Cascade now?" anytime Black Mesa does anything slightly wrong.
